        The conception and measurement model of organizational effectiveness are very important in the organizational behabiors. But there are many incongruences among its theoretical or empirical researches. Thus, more verifiable definition and applicable structure that can be agreed and generalized by many scholars and manages are necessarily need. Organizational effectiveness can be conceptually defined as the degree to which an organization attains its short and long term goals, the selection of which reflects strategic constituencies, the self-interest of the evaluator, and the life stage of the organization. And up to now, on the organizational effectiveness mesurement model has been typically represented goal-attainment approach, systematic approach, strategic(or multiple) constituency approach, and competing values approach. Relativism model, power perspective model, social justice perspective model, and evolutionary perspective model are used to solve core problem-allocation of preference- of strategic constituency approach. Competing vaslues approach is classified human relations, open systems, rational goal and internal process model by basic development process. The dimentions of organizational effectiveness are categorized macro or micro, univariate or multivariate, static or dynamic, and limited or universal dimention. And also contingency model that considerated situational variates has been developed. The model emphasize fitness among various internal elements in the organization, and between organization and environment. More rational, generalizable dimention on the organizational effectiveness measurement is multivariate, contingency model. Therefore, in this thesis integrates various effectiveness measurement model adopting basic framework competing values approach that be evaluated as more recent perspective, and contingency model, and refers effectivenesses and limitations of the model.

      • 한글 情報源의 Markov Chain

        通信系統에서 情報傳送의 媒體 로서 한글을 使用할 境遇 한글 字素의 集合은 外國文字의 境遇와같이 하나의 情報源을 構成한다. 한글은 表音文字의 一種으로 그의 文字 構成이 規則的이고 現行 綴字法에 依해 子音과 母音의 字素의 數, 複合子音의 數가 制限되어 있어 한글은 情報傳送에서 外國文字와 比較해서 組織的이다. 本論文은 한글 情報源硏究의 一次的인 結果로 여기에는 情報源의 立場에서의 한글文字의 分析과 한글 情報源의 Markov chain의 形成이 包含되어 있다. Markev chain은 한글의 文字構造에 依해서 構成했을 뿐만 아니라 文字構造와 綴字法까지도 考慮해서 形成하였다. Markov chain 形成에서는 이를 또 非同期式과 同期式의 두通信方法으로 나누어서 老慮하였다. 그러므로 本論文에서 形成된 Markov chain은 現行 한글에 依한 情報傳送에서의 實際的 情報源이 될 것이다. 이것은 한글 情報源의 entropy와 基他의 parameter 算出의 基本이 될 것이다. In communication system, when Hangeul is used as an information transmission media, the set of Hanqeul alphabet element forms a information source as foreign characters. Hangeul is a kind of phonetic symbol, and since the character formation of Hangeul is regular, and numbers of consonant element, vowel element, compound consonant, and compound vowel are limited by current Hangeul spelling, transmission of information by Hangeul is systematized compared with foreign language. This thesis is the primary result of Hangeul information source research, and includes analysis of Hangeul characters as basis of information source and formations of Markov chains of Hangeul information source, The Markov chains are formed as considering not only of Hangeul character formation, but also of both charater formation and spelling, respectively, The Markov chains are also divided into two classes, asynchronous and synchronous system. The Markov chains formed in this thesis, therefore, should be the actual information source for current Hangeul information transmission. This result should be the basis of computing entropy of Hangeul information source and other parameters.

        In this study, small water power dam established for water-power generation in rivers, it alnalyze about effect that get in innudated damage by storm. If construction is established in rivers, the flood discharge will not pass rivers harmoniously. By this cause, storage happens and backwater effect is happened to upper stream. Draw basin characteristics index using GIS method, and do link with HEC-HMS and calculated the flood discharge 14,659CMS to 19:00 August 7 in Yeongchun gaging station (No.108), storage effect of small water power dam is calculated by 1,940CMS and effect on the backwater analyzed water lever rise of 0.27m to Yeongchun 2 bridge(No.89+70).

        The studied sewer system was located in densely populated urban catchments. Two sub-catchments consisting of a domestic areas and a commercial area are monitored during dry weather period and rain events for flow rate, rainfall intensity, BOD, SS, T-N and T-P. As a result of the flow rate monitoring, the I/I is related to the type of sources existing in the sub-basin. During a dry weather period, the I/I is observed to be 17~59% for the base flow. The SWMM can be used for runoff prediction for the dffective management of the CSO_(s) in urban area.

        <P>To confirm the beneficial effects of alpha (1,2)-fucosyltransferase (FUT1) M307 (A) on piglet survival on commercial farms, we performed PCR-RFLP analysis of FUT1 M307 in successfully marketed (n?=?245) and disease affected/deceased pigs during weaning (n?=?252) at a commercial farm. We also evaluated the FUT1 genotypes of 190 healthy pigs from three different genetic backgrounds. The distribution of genotypes differed between the successfully marketed and disease affected/deceased pig groups. The frequency of the A allele, associated with resistance to edema and post-weaning diarrhea, was higher in the post-weaning survival group (0.21) than in the non-survival group (0.16, P?<?0.05). The odds ratio for piglet survival between AA and GG genotypes was 1.98; thus, piglet survival for individuals with the AA genotype was almost two-fold greater than for GG individuals. The FUT1 gene polymorphism can be used as an effective marker for selection programs to improve post-weaning piglet survival.</P>

        Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor δ Regulates Extracellular Matrix and Apoptosis of Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells Through the Activation of Transforming Growth Factor-β1/Smad3

        <P>Homeostasis of the extracellular matrix and apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are key components in the regulation of the stability of atherosclerotic plaques. Here, we demonstrate that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)delta regulates extracellular matrix synthesis and degradation through transforming growth factor-beta1 and its effector, Smad3. Activation of PPARdelta strongly amplified the expression of types I and III collagen, fibronectin, elastin, and TIMP-3 (tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 3), but not of TIMP-1, matrix metalloproteinase-2 or -9. The effect of PPARdelta on the expression of type III collagen was dually regulated by the direct binding of PPARdelta and Smad3 to a direct repeat-1 site and a Smad-binding element, respectively, in the type III collagen gene promoter. The activation of PPARdelta attenuated apoptotic cell death in VSMCs induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein, and similar antiapoptotic effects were observed on treatment of cells with exogenous type I and/or III collagen. Administration of a PPARdelta ligand GW501516 to mice also suppressed elastase-induced cell death of aortic VSMCs. These results suggest that PPARdelta-induced upregulation of extracellular matrix proteins exerts an antiapoptotic effect, thereby maintaining the stability of atherosclerotic plaques. Specific ligands of PPARdelta may aid in the therapeutic intervention of atherosclerosis by improving plaque stability and patient prognosis.</P>

        Transforming Growth Factor-β1 Is a Molecular Target for the Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor δ

        <P>The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)delta has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherogenic disorders. However, its physiological roles and functions in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) remain relatively unclear. In the present study, we show that the gene encoding transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta1 is a PPARdelta target in VSMCs. The PPARdelta activator GW501516 upregulates TGF-beta1 expression in a dose- and time-dependent manner. This induction is attenuated significantly by the presence of small interfering RNA against PPARdelta or GW9662, an inhibitor of PPARdelta. Furthermore, activated PPARdelta induces TGF-beta1 promoter activity by binding to the direct repeat-1 response element TGF-beta1-direct repeat-1. Mutations in the 5' or 3' half-sites of the response element totally abrogate transcriptional activation and PPARdelta binding, which suggests that this site is a novel type of PPARdelta response element. In addition, ligand-activated PPARdelta attenuated the promoter activity and expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 induced by interleukin-1beta. These effects were significantly reduced in the presence of small interfering RNA against PPARdelta, anti-TGF-beta1 antibody, or a TGF-beta type I receptor inhibitor. Decreased monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression induced by PPARdelta was mediated by the effector of TGF-beta1, Smad3. Finally, administration of GW501516 to mice upregulated TGF-beta1, whereas the expression of proinflammatory genes including monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 was significantly attenuated in the thoracic aorta. Taken together, these results demonstrate the presence of a novel TGF-beta1-mediated pathway in the antiinflammatory activities of PPARdelta.</P>
