This paper brings up to date a study of suicide attempters coming to a major emergency room in Hang Gang Sacred Heart Hospital during a year from Oct. of 1978 to Sept. of 1979. Results of the study and the review of the 10-year-ago literature indicate that the age of the attempters becomes older in its tendency although the incidence of suicide attempts continues to be a public health problem primarily among young women. Organic phosphorous and Sodium fluoroacetates are significantly common methods used in comparison with other territory in Seoul.
간 섬유과 실험 동물에서 procollagen type Ⅲ peptide와 hydroxyproline 측정 방법으로 WK910의 fibrogenesis 억제 효과 검색

We investgated the antifibrotic effect of a natural preparation(WD 910) in fibrotic rats by bile duct obstruction. The animals separated at first normal and fibrotic group and secondary WK 910 treated group and untreated group. The WK 910 (3.75㎎/rat) was given daily peroral in 4 weeks after operation. Hydroxyproline (hyp) in liver tissue by colorimetry to determination of collagen deposition, procollagen type Ⅲ peptide in serum (PNIIIP: fibrogenesis-marker) by RIA and conventional clinical chemistry in serum, were measured. The ratio between body weight and liver weight (LW/BW) in WK 910 treated rats was 6.7% and 8.5% in untreated group. The level of PNIIIP in serum in WK 910 treated rats showed 83% lower than untreated group. Hyp(accumulation criteria of connective tissue protein) value in liver tissue of WK 910 TREATED RATS WAS 512㎎/g and 546㎎/g in untrated group. Histologically observed weak∼middle fibrosis(+∼++), limited bile duct proliferation in portal field in 4 weeks with WK 910 treated group. WK 910 showed inhibition of fibrogenesis. In conclusion that WK 910 showed the antifibrotic effect in experimental liver fibrosis rats. The determination of PNIIIP in serum is useful diagnostic parameter for monitoring to effect of antifibrotic agent.

A case of intraperitoneal hemorrhage of intraligamentary pregnancy is one of most unusual accidents in obstetrics and carries a high degree of maternal and fetal niorbity and mortality. The diagnosis of intraligamentary pregnancy is rarely ever made prior to lapardorny. We report a case of it with a brief review of literatures concerned.

Mature cystic teratoma of the ovary is the most common ovarian germ cell neoplasm representing 10-20% of all ovarian tumors. Malignant transformation rarely takes place, which is approximately 1-2% of all cases. The most common malignancy arising in mature cystic teratoma is squamous cell carcinoma. The prognosis of malignant transformation developing in mature cystic teratoma is poor and the management is not established due to the rarity of malignant degeneration. A case of stage la squamous cell carcinoma which developed in mature cystic teratoma of left ovary in a 43-year-old female is presented. The ovarian tumor was woman`s fist-sized with intact capsule. Left oophorocystectomy was done. Above case with a brief review of literature is given.
An Empirical Study of A Fluorescent Lamp Life

In lighting applications, fluorescent lamp systems are widely accepted due to its effi-c i ency i n terms of 1urninous-f1ux power ratio. However t he des i gn constraint of a ballast never has been defined clearly to guarantee long lamp 1ife while maintaining the same luminous flux-power ratio.<br/> This paper presents a behav-iora 1 study of a f 1 uorescent 1 amp after reaching at the normal operating condition. We present an analytic mode 1 of a f 1 uorescent 1 amp so that the use of the model could reduce the time and effort to find the estimated lamp life before installing the lamp. We show the mode 1 is efficient to be used in simulation environment.<br/> The study shows that (1) the ana1ytica1 approach prov i ded i n this paper can provide the way of screening an inefficient fluorescent lamp, and (2) using the analytic model, a ballast design becomes interactive through computer simulation to length the lamp life. Final ly we conclude that the convent i ona1 ba11ast design approach needs to be changed.
A Transient Modeling Of A Fluorescent Lamp At Startup Time

Fluorescent lamps are widely accepted to energy efficient commercial lighting applications. In designing a fluorescent lamp system, a ba11ast des ign heavi1y re1ies on the characterist ic of a fluorescent 1 amp under cons i derat i on. Espe-cially, at startup time, the transient characteristic of a fluorescent lamp puts much tighter specifications of a design.<br/> In this paper, based on the transient characteristic at the startup time, a transient behavioral model of a fluorescent lamp is presented wi th an equivalent circuit. The model is applicable to the wide range of f1uorescent 1 amps provided by different manufacturers.<br/> The experimental results are compared with the results provided by PSPICE simulation. The result shows the mode 1 i s effect ive i n practice. As a result, we could identify more accurate startup constraints to decide the design of either an electromechanical or an electronic ballast.
담도결찰에 의해 유도된 간섬유화모델에 대한 생물약제학적 연구

The model of liver fibrosis by bile duct ligation was investigated using the aminoterminal procollagen type Ⅲ peptide(PIIINP), total hydroxyproline in the liver and light microscopical histology. Four weeks after bile duct ligation there was an increase in total collagen content of the liver to 199% of initial values accompanied by an increase of serum-PIIINP(385%). Also to assess the potential for utilization related to the pharmacokinetic model of liver fibrosis, We examined the pharmacokinetics of theophylline in the rat of bile duct ligation induced fibrosis, as an indicator drug. An i.v. dose of 10㎎ of aminophylline per ㎏ of body weight was administered, and samples of serum were collected from 0 to 12 hours and were assayed by high performance liquid chromatography. The serum concentration and AUC of theophylline were increased significantly in fibrotic rats compared with those of control. The half-life of theophylline in fibrotic rats was prolonged, with a mean of 17.55±5.53 hours compared to 6.56±1.11 hours in normal rats. The total clearance of theophylline in fibrotic rats was low, averaging 11.19±1.72㎖/㎏/hr in the control rats and the normal rats, respectively. From the above results it was considered that bile duct ligation model was useful for screening method of antifibrotic agents and for pharmacokinetic model of liver fibrosis.
Pharmacokinetics of Theophylline : Effects of Hepatic Fibrosis in Rats Induced by Bile Duct Ligation

This experiment was performed to evaluate the usefulness of an experimental fibrosis model by bile duct ligation as a pharmacokinetic model of a disease state. First, experimental liver fibrosis was produced by bile duct ligation. At 4 weeks postoperation, a fibrotic condition was characterized by measurement of the aminoterminal procollagen type III peptide (PIIINP) level in serum, total collagen content in liver and light microscopic histology. Four weeks after bile duct ligation there was an increase in total collagen content of the liver to 430% of the initial values, accompanied by an increase of serum-PIIINP (385%). Secondly, we examined the pharmacokinetics of theophylline in the fibrotic rat induced by bile duct ligation. An I.v. dose of 8mg of theophylline per kg of body weight was administered, and the levels of theophylline in serum were assayed by high performance liquid chromatography. The area under the serum concentration-time curve of theophylline was increased significantly in fibrotic rats compared with that of the control, and the total clearance of drug in fibrotic rats was low, averaging 22.6mg/kg/h vs. 36.1 and 6O.9ml/kg/h in the control and the normal rat, respectively. However, the value of distribution during the β-phase was not significantly affected by experimental liver fibrosis.
