Nodule Rich Protein 2 modulates nodule number in Medicago truncatula

Symbiotic nitrogen fxation is beneft to sustainable agriculture and global nitrogen cycle. Many small peptides were identifed as regulators involving in the interaction between rhizobia and legume. Here we reported Nodule Rich Protein 2 (MtNRP2) encoding a small peptide in Medicago truncatula, belonged to a group of nodule rich protein restricted in legume species. MtNRP2 expressed highly in root nodule and its promoter was active during the initiation and development of root nodule and lateral root. To investigate the function of MtNRP2 in nodulation, we generated MtNRP2-overexpression and MtNRP2- knockdown transgenic Medicago. MtNRP2-overexpression transgenic lines performed normal nodulation phenotype compared with vector control. However, in the MtNRP2-RNAi transgenic plants, the decrease of MtNRP2 expression lead to the increase of infection threads number (7 day post inoculation) and nodules number (3 week post inoculation); meanwhile, the expression of MtRGF3 and MtPUB1 was inhibited. These results suggested that MtNRP2 negatively regulated nodulation in Medicago truncatula.
Design and Current Balancing Optimization of A 1700V/1000A Multi-chip SiC Power Module

The rated current of a single SiC MOSFET is always less than 100A at a voltage rating higher than 1.2kV. Therefore, plenty of SiC MOSFET dies paralleled as multi-chip power modules to increase the current capacity. However, due to the asymmetric layout and the difference between chip parameters, there will be severe current imbalance in power modules, affecting the reliability. This paper presents a multi-chip 1700V/1000A SiC power module, consisting of 18 paralleled chips in each switch of the half-bridge topology. A serial of current balancing optimization method is proposed, including chip classification, the optimization of layout, power terminals and driver loop. Finally, the double pulse test (DPT) is conducted to verify the performance of the power module.
Enriched finite element method for three-dimensional viscoelastic interfacecrack problems

The enriched finite element method is developed for three-dimensional problems of an interface crack between elastic and viscoelastic (including dissimilar viscoelastic) materials. According to the displacement fields of elastic interface crack, the displacement fields of viscoelastic interface crack are derived through the correspondence principle. By incorporating the displacement expressions into the displacement model of regular element, the incremental formulations of enriched element are derived. The stress intensity factor, and strain energy release rates can be solved based on the enriched degree of freedoms. A 3-D through interface crack at the center of jointed dissimilar viscoelastic plate subjected to remote tension and a quarter-circular viscoelastic interface corner crack subjected to uniform thermal loading was investigated using the enriched finite element method. It is shown that the present solutions are consistent with the analytical solutions, which indicates the present method is correct and efficient.

A series of conjugated metalloporphyrin polymers (MPP-AMnPs) were synthesized by using inexpensive, environmentally friendly and high-efficiency CuI/N,N-dimethyl glycine as catalytic system, and 5,10,15,20-mesotetra(4-aminophenyl) porphyrin manganese and p-dibromobenzene as building blocks. Scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and scanning electron microscopy indicated that the polymers had large surface areas and homogeneous microporous structures. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the polymers had remarkable thermostability. The catalytic performance of MPP-AMnP was tested by oxidizing cyclic ketones with dioxygen as oxidant. The conversion was high in a mild environment in l,2-dichloroethane solvent at 60 °C. Moreover, MPPAMnP remained stable in the reaction process and highly catalytically active after ten successive recycles.

Background/Aims: Binge drinking leads to many disorders, including alcoholic hepatosteatosis, which is characterized by intrahepatic neutrophil infiltration and increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Molecular mechanisms may involve the migration of bacterial metabolites from the gut to the liver and the activation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Methods: Serum samples from both binge drinking and alcohol-avoiding patients were analyzed. Mouse models of chronic plus binge alcohol-induced hepatosteatosis and HCC models were used. Results: A marker of NETs formation, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), was significantly higher in alcoholic hepatosteatosis and HCC patients and mice than in controls. Intrahepatic inflammation markers and HCC-related cytokines were decreased in mice with reduced NET formation due to neutrophil elastase (NE) deletion, and liver-related symptoms of alcohol were also alleviated in NE knockout mice. Removal of intestinal bacteria with antibiotics led to decreases in markers of NETs formation and inflammatory cytokines upon chronic alcohol consumption, and development of alcoholic hepatosteatosis and HCC was also attenuated. These functions were restored upon supplementation with the bacterial product LPS. When mice lacking toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) received chronic alcohol feeding, intrahepatic markers of NETs formation decreased, and hepatosteatosis and HCC were alleviated. Conclusions: Formation of NETs following LPS stimulation of TLR4 upon chronic alcohol use leads to increased alcoholic steatosis and subsequent HCC.

Mosquitoes bite human beings and transmit many diseases, such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus. Vector control of mosquitoes is an effective strategy for reducing the spread of disease. However, extensive use of in secticides (e.g. pyrethroids and organophosphorus) has caused resistance in mosquitoes, which weakens the effectiveness of mosquito control. Phytochemicals have been considered an alternative approach to mosquito control. Essential oil (EO) was obtained from the leaves and flowers of Origanum vulgare, and its synergistic activity with piperonyl butoxide (PBO) was tested against Aedes albopictus and Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus larvae. Thirty-seven compounds were identified, among which carvacrol and thymol were two major constitu ents (30.73 % and 18.81 %, respectively). O. vulgare EO had a significant toxic effect against fourth-stage larvae of Cx. p. quinquefasciatus and Ae. albopictus, with LC 50 values of 17.51 and 75.90 mg/L. Carvacrol and thymol also each appeared to be more effective against Cx. p. quinquefasciatus (LC 50 = 19.30 and 11.56 mg/L, respectively) than Ae. albopictus (LC 50 = 26.62 and 26.66 mg/L, respectively). PBO interacted synergistically with O. vulgare EO, carvacrol and thymol with 2.60–6.26 times as much of the active compound needed without PBO as against Cx. p. quinquefasciatus and Ae. albopictus larvae. Overall, our results contribute to the development of new natural mosquito insecticides.
Prevalence of new psychoactive substances in Northeast Asia from 2007 to 2015

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The proliferation of new psychoactive substances (NPS) has been a global trend in drug abuse and its regulation has been a worldwide concern. There is no doubt that it is necessary to share information related to these emerging substances between countries and continents for the effective regulation of NPS. With efforts for the efficient regulation of NPS, many studies and information have been published for the prevalence of NPS in the United States and other countries in Europe and Oceania. However, there is lack of information available for the prevalence of NPS in Asian and African countries. Therefore, this research was focused on the investigation of legal status of certain NPS in Northeast Asian countries, including China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, in order to provide information on the prevalence and trend of emerging NPS in these countries. The results showed that a total of 940 NPS was reported in 4 Northeast Asian countries from 2007 to 2015. Among 940 NPS, 882 NPS are legally restricted in at least one country (94%) and 96 substances were not currently under control (6%) in these countries. The number of controlled NPS that are currently controlled in all 4 countries was only 25 (or 28%) out of 882 NPS. Each substance was categorized in 9 groups according to the classification proposed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). In Northeast Asia, the most commonly controlled NPS were synthetic cannabinoids, synthetic cathinones, and phenethylamines. It was found that Japan is the most proactive country in terms of the NPS regulation with 41% of the total number of controlled NPS in Northeast Asia, followed by South Korea (21%), China (28%), Taiwan (10%). Comparing the number of NPS newly regulated in each country every year, NPS has been broadly scheduled in 2011 and the number of scheduled NPS has dramatically increased from 2013 to 2015. It was shown that Northeast Asia is also in danger of these emerging NPS and the effective regulation across countries is important for the prevention of NPS. Also, this study will bring attention to local law enforcement in the construction of local drug crime prevention network sharing information for these controlled substances.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The trend and legal status of NPS in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan was studied. </LI> <LI> Among total of 940 NPS reported, only 25 are currently controlled in 4 countries. </LI> <LI> Japan is the most proactive country regarding the NPS regulation followed by Korea. </LI> <LI> The information on emerging NPS in four countries was conducted for the first time. </LI> </UL> </P>

Subject in the process of image acquisition and the relative games between the camera or camera image fuzzy, it seriously affected the further image feature extraction, target recognition and image analysis. In order to meet the needs of reality, get high quality image, we must be used image restoration techniques for fuzzy image restoration. Based on the detailed study on the basis of the theory of wavelet transform, we confirmed by experiments in motion blurred image of wavelet and decomposition level .The method to identify the fuzzy parameters, under the condition of without noise and with noise on the four classic image restoration algorithm, the simulation experiment using the peak signal-to-noise ratio, mean square error, average gray level gradient method and Laplace operator method of four kinds of image quality evaluation index to evaluate the healing effect and recovery result diagram and its quality evaluation. Through the scene shooting motion blurred image point spread function of parameter identification and image restoration, it demonstrates that the proposed point spread function’s parameters identification method is sound and effective.

The sense and antisense digoxigenin-labeled RNA probes of four genes, Cdc25A, Cdc25B, Sox2 and Mnb, were produced by using SP6 and T7 RNA polymerases, respectively, and in vitro transcription. Expression patterns of the four genes were detected by in situ hybridization in HH (Hamburger and Hamilton) stage 10 chick embryos. In general, expression patterns of the four genes were similar. mRNA of the four genes was mostly restricted to the entire CNS (central nervous system). All were confined to an identical region, neural tube, neural groove and caudal neural plate, corresponding to the notochord or spinal cord, but there was some distinction in specific region or in concentration, for example in somites. The overlap in expression at the same developmental stage in the CNS suggests that the four genes may be functional similar or related in CNS development. Expression patterns of the four genes support specific roles of these regulators in the developing CNS.

Dynamic characteristics of power modules are significantly influenced by the parasitic parameters, especially parasitic inductance. Accordingly, more attention has been paid to measuring parasitic inductance extensively. However, the existing methods also have corresponding limitations, such as inadequate accuracy, complex measurement, and poor repeatability. Thus, a parasitic inductance extraction method for the arbitrary power flow path based on the parallel resonance principle is proposed in this paper. Compared with the methods proposed previously, the parasitic inductance can be extracted by only measuring the voltage of the parallel capacitor, which is a low-voltage and low-frequency damped oscillation attenuation signal. Finally, experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in measuring the parasitic inductance of the terminals of the silicon carbide power module.
