Objectives : This report intended to estimate effects of Jung-an acupuncture on the acquired torticollis caused by muscle contraction. Methods : The patients were treated by Jung-an acupuncture, herb medication and Physical treatment daily. The improvement of the patients was judged by Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale(TWSTRS), Tsui's score and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Results : After 7 days of treatment, the 2 patients' neck pain and cervical movement were improved. Also, TWSTRS score, Tsui's score and VAS were all reduced. Conclusions : As the Jung-an acupuncture's theological base is organized with meridian theory and myofacial release therapy, We considered the Jung-an acupuncture is effective not only for the skin disease but also for the muscle problem such as torticollis.

전치태반의 임상적 고찰

Objective : Our purpose was to make preparations of what for proper emergency care and delivery in order to improve maternal and fetal well-being. Methods : The study was undertaken for the clinical evaluation and statistical analysis on the patients with placenta previa who had been admitted and delivered at Soonchunhyang University Hospital from January, 1994 to May, 1998, retrospectively. Results : The incidence of placenta previa was 2.0%. Placenta previa has occurred more often in multigravida(92%) than primigravida(8%). Vaginal bleeding was most frequent(37.3%) presentation. The mean gestational age at the first bleeding episode was 31~35 weeks(46.4%). The type of placenta previa was totalis (31.3%), Partialis(18%), marginalis(32.7%), low lying(18%). Conclusion . This study indicates that the obstetrician and the pediatrician should be prepared for emergency care and delivery of the placenta previa patients, with the improvement of delivery room and neonatal intensive care unit.

절수에 의한 Mongolian Gerbil 장기중량변화에 관한 분석연구

In this study, authors measured the each organ weight of the long term water deprived Mongolian gerbil, after then we calculated the mean, standard deviation, variance coefficient of the real measured organ weight and induced the organ weight change quantity, rate of quantity, deviation between measured and theological organ weight, deviation rate, sum of deviation rate, organ weight change rate, rate of organ weight by the mathematical formula. The results obtained as follow 1. The weight of the brains, lung, and testis were abruptly decreased after water deprived until the 5th day, after then slowly decreased until the 20th day. 2. The weight of the heart was decreased gradually from the first day until the 20th day. 3. The weight of the liver was abruptly decreased until the 10th day, after then the more slowly decreased until the 20th day. 4. The weight of the thymus, spleen, kidney, and pancreas were abruptly decreased until the 15th day, after then increased slowly until 20th day but the weight of the kidney was abruptly increased from the 10th day. 5. The organ weight change rate and the rate of the each day organ weight were very diversified.

을릉도의 약용식물

This study was carried out in order to provide the basic information for the development of medicinal plants in Ulleung island, Korea. This area had very rich and diverse flora; 495 taxa with 105 familes, 231 genera, 418 species, 1 subspeies, 63 varieties and 13 forms. The 94 medicinal plants were distributed in Ulleung. They were composed of 10 endemic species, 22 rare species and 62 economic species respectively.

枸杞 Lycium chinense Miller의 果實이 實驗的 糖尿에 미치는 影響

The influence of fruit of Lycium chinense Miller on the blood sugar levels and serum transaminase (SGP-T, SGO-T) activities from alloxan-diabetic rabbits were observed. The Lycii Fructus were extracted with methanol, and the extracted sample was orally administrated to normal and alloxan diabetic rabbits. As for the blood sugar levels and serum transaminase activities of normal rabbits no significant variation were detected by administration of the extracted sample. The blood sugar levels and serum transaminase activity of normal rabbits were significantly increased by administration of the alloxan. The increased blood sugar levels of 'the alloxan-diabetic rabbits were gradually decreased by administration of the extracted samples, and were returned to the control levels after 12 day. The increased transaminase activities in serum of the alloxan-diabetic rabbits were significantly decreased after 96 hours. According to the above results, it would be concluded that the extract of Lycii Fructus influences for the recovery of the increased amount of blood sugar levels and serum transaminase activities by alloxan.

한국판 감정자각 수준 척도의 개발

Clozapine과 Haloperidol이 흰쥐의 미상피각과 측좌핵에서 Proenkephalin, Protachykinin 및 Proneurotensin의 유전자 표현에 미치는 영향

Clozapine의 약리장용기전을 보다 구체적으로 밝혀보기 위하여, in situ hybridization의 방법을 이용하여 clozapine과 전형적 항정신병약물인 haloperidol의 장기 투여(28일간)가 흰쥐 미상피각 및 측좌핵에서 pENK, pTAK, pNT의 유전자 표현에 미치는 영향을 비교 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. pENK 유전자 표현에 미치는 영향 대조군의 경우 미상피각 및 측좌핵에 많은 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포가 관찰되었다. Haloperidol 투여군의 경우 대조군에 비하여 미상피각에서 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포들이 유의한 숫적증가를 보였으며(P<0.05). 측좌핵에서는 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포의 유의한 숫적증가는 관찰되지 않았으나 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포상의 은입자수의 유의한 증가가 관찰되었다(P<0.05). Clozapine 투여군의 경우 대조군에 비하여 미상피각 및 측좌핵에서 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포의 수 혹은 pENK-mRNA 함유신경세포상의 은입자수의 변화는 관찰되지 않았다. 2. pTAK 유전자 표현에 미치는 영향 대조군의 경우 많은 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포가 미상피각 및 측좌핵에서 관찰되었으며 미상피각에서는 외측부에서 내측부보다 더 많은 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포를 함유하고 있었다. Haloperidol 투여군의 경우 대조군에 비하여 미상피각에서는 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포의 유의한 숫적감소(P<0.05) 및 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포상의 은입자수의 유의한 숫적감소가 관찰되었다 (P<0.05). 측좌핵에서도 대조군에 비하여pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포의 유의한 숫적감소(P<0.05) 및 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포상의 은입자수의 유의한 숫적감소가 관찰되었다(P<0.05). Clozapine 투여군의 경우 대조군에 비하여 미상피각 및 측좌핵에서 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포의 수 혹은 pTAK-mRNA 함유신경세포상의 은입자수의 변화는 관찰되지 않았다. 3. pNT 유전자 표현에 미치는 영향 대조군의 경우 pNT-mRNA 함유신경세포는 미상피각에서는 매우 드물게 관찰되었으며 측좌핵의 경우 대조군에 비하여 미상피각 및 측좌핵에서 pNT-mRNA 함유신경세포 및 이들 세포상의 은입자수의 변화는 관찰되지 않았고, clozapine 투여군의 경우도 대조군에 비하여 아무런 변화가 관찰되지 않았다. 이상과 같은 연구결과는 clozapine을 장기투여할 경우, ENK, TAK 및 NT의 합성에 아무런 영향을 미치지 않음으로써, clozapine은 dopamine계나 dopamine계와 관련이 많은 GABA계, acethylcholine계와는 무관한 기전으로 작용하며 따라서 extra-dopaminergic system과의 관련성이 보다 중요한 기전임을 시사하고 있다고 하겠다. The goal of this study was to clarify pharmacological action mechanisms of clozapine(atypical antipsychotics) compared with haloperidol(typical antipsychotics). The author observed the level of proenkephalin(pENK) mRNA, protachykinin(pTAK) mRNA and proneurotensin(pNT) mRNA in the caudate putamen(CP) and nucleus accumbens(NA) of the rat with in situ hybridization histochemistry after chronic treatment for 28 days with haloperido(1mg/kg) and clozapine(20mg/kg). The results were as follows: 1) Haloperidol induced the elevated level of pENK-mRNA in CP and NA, but clozapine made no significant changes in the level of pENK-mRNA in both areas. 2) Haloperidol decreased the level of pTAK-mRNA in CP and NA, but clozapine made no significant changes in the level of pTAK-mRNA in both areas 3) The level of mRNA was not changed in CP and NA after chronic administration of haloperidol or clozapine. The results suggest that the longterm phamacological action mechanisms of clozapine were not related with the dopaminergic system and might also be unrelated with GABA system and Ach system, which have close connections with the dopaminergic system. So, clozapine is suspected to have a more important effect on the extradopaminergic system.

감단자(시단자)의 관능적 및 텍스쳐 특성

The objective of this study was to seek the best recipe for making Gamdanja. Gamdanja is a kind of rice cake made from persimmon extract and waxy flour, with a little salt mixed into the waxy flour. The method involved boiling the persimmon extract and beating in the waxy rice powder until all the waxy flour had been added.The procedure was as follows: Gamdanja containing different ratios of ingredients, such as persimmon extract (23, 23.5 and 24 hrs) and waxy rice flour (160 and 180g). The most desirable recipe was determined after sensory examination and mechanical tests using texture, moisture content and colorimeter measurements. The results of the sensory evaluation showed that Gamdanja made using persimmon extracted for 23.5 hrs, with the additional of 160g of waxy flour gave the higher scores for QDA profile, chewiness, delicacy and after swallowing preference than the other ratios. The results of the acceptance test also showed that the Gamdanja made using the persimmon extracted for 23.5 hrs with 160g of waxy rice flour was the best mix in every respect, such as for color and overall acceptability. In the textural analysis of Gamdanja, the hardness, adhesiveness, gununiness and chewiness were increased by the additiong of furtherwaxy flour. The moisture content of Gamdanja with persimmon extracted for 23 Ins was higher than those extracted for 23.5 and 24 hrs. The L-, a- and b-values of Gamdanja were increased with decreasing waxy flour. The sensory and mechanical examinations showed the overall quality of Gamdanja had positive correlations with delicacy and color, but negative correlations with hardness, adhesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness. As a result of these tests, the most desirable recipe for the Gamdanja was persimmon extracted for 23.5 hrs with the additional of 160g of waxy rice flour, containing I% salt and a moisture content of 45.87%.
