        Carcinoid tumors have been reported in a wide range of organs but most commonly involve the lungs, bronchi and gastrointestinal tract. Within the gastrointestinal tract, appendix is the most common location for carcinoid, followed by the distal small intestine, the rectum, and the stomach. Among these, primary involvement of the ampulla of Vater is extremely rare. We report a case of carcinoid tumor of ampulla of Vater. A 62-year-old man presented with epigastric soreness. Gastroduodenal endoscopy showed hyperemic bulging mass on ampulla of Vater and diagnosed as carcinoid tumor by histologic finding, with immunohistochemical study. In ^(111)In-octreoscan, tumor had regional lymph node metastasis, but no evidence of distant metastasis. Pancreatoduodenectomy with lymph node dissection was performed.

        Radiofrequency ablation(RFA), as a form of minimally invasive therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma, has become an important treatment modality. Because of limitation of surgery, RFA has become standard therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in some situations. But there are some complications of RFA such as bleeding, infection, hematoma, adjacent organ thermal damage including intestinal perforation, needle track seeding, and so on. There are few reports in the literature that systematically evaluate the incidence of needle tract seeding and its associated risk factors. And only 2 cases of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA were reported in Korea. We report a case of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA.

      • 음식물 쓰레기 퇴비가 오이 발아와 유묘생장에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to find out toxicity of compost made of food waste to cucumber seed germination and seedlings growth when it was mixed with Mixlite for bed substrate. Mixlite was solely used as bed soil, or mixed with food waste compost ranging 1% to 100% (w/w). Germination percentage and seedling growth of cucumber were examined in 4 weeks after seedling. When cucumber seeds were sowed in Mixlite mixed with food waste compost at 100, 50, 30, 20, 10 or 1%, germination percentages were 30, 36, 38, 46, 74 and 84% compared to with control(100%), respectively. It showed that germination percentage percentage was adversely affected by the amount of food waste composed mixed in the bed substract. Plant height and hypocotyls diameter, root length and root fresh weight, hypocotyls fresh weight and cotyledon fresh weight of cucumber seedling were similarly adversely affected by the amount of food waste compost. Optimum content of the food waste compost for cucumber nursery substrate was found to be 1% of Mixlite.

        Background : The cun measurement System, an essential and convenient method in locating acupoints, has been widely used in the practice of acupuncture. However, traditional cun measurement has been criticized for its lack of reliability. Objectives : The purposes of this study are to determine if one cun measured by the directional methods have a consistency with that of proportional methods and to investigate which factors are related with these differences, especially in forearm. Methods : The distance between the elbow crease and the wrist crease of forearm was compared to a reference value of one cun obtained by the directional method. In this method, one cun is one third of the distance between index finger and Small finger of a subject, measured at proximal interphalangeal joint. In addition, to investigate the factors influencing the differences between these two methods, we measured the height and body weight and calculated body mass index (BMI). Finally we analyzed the factors correlated with these lengths by linear regression test. Results : The results showed that one cun obtained by the directional methods were significantly different from one cun by the proportional methods in forearm. It was demonstrated that the length acquired with the directional method was more correlated with body weight and body mass index, while the length obtained by the proportional method was more correlated with the height.

      • 저염도 음식물 쓰레기를 이용한 퇴비시여가 배추의 생육에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to investigate the changes of physico-chemical properties of soil applied with compost made by food wastes and its effect on the growth and yield of Chinese cabbage. Chinese cabbage was grown in the soil treated with food waste compst(FWC) of 0, 0.625, 1.25, 2.5, 5 and 10㎏/3.3㎡. As the amount of FWC increased, number of leaves, leaf area and fresh weight increased where application of 5㎏ and 10㎏/3.3㎡ showed vigorous plant growth in the late growing period. The pH of soil by application of FWC was not raised, which was similar to the soil before treatment. Organic matter increased in soil by increasing the amount of FWC. However, concentration of Cu and Pb in the soil reduced. The concentration of available phosphate(P) was lower in the soil treated with FWC than in the soil before treatment, which means that a large amount of P may be uptaken by plant. This study suggested that FWC should be an alternative to chemical fertilizer for vegetable production.

        NiTi scissors-bite corrector의 와이어 굵기에 따른 3차원적 치아 이동 양상

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the difference in three dimensional tooth movement using three different wire sizes (0.018 × 0.025-in, 0.016 × 0.022-in, 0.016-in) on a NiTi scissors-bite corrector. Methods: Computed tomography (CT) images of the experimental model before and after tooth movement were taken and reconstructed into three dimensional models for superimposition. The direction and the amount of tooth movement were measured and analyzed statistically. Results: The lingual and intrusive movements of the crown of the maxillary second molar were increased as the size of the NiTi wire increased. The roots of the maxillary second molars moved buccally except for the 0.016-in group. The intrusive movement of the roots of the maxillary second molars was increased as the size of the NiTi wire increased. Due to the use of orthodontic mini-implants, anchorage loss was under 0.2 mm on average. Conclusions: The 0.018 × 0.025-in NiTi wire was most effective in lingual and intrusive movement of the maxillary second molar which was in scissors-bite position. Indirect skeletal anchorage with a single orthodontic mini-implant was rigid enough to prevent anchorage loss. 본 연구에서는 NiTi scissors-bite corrector를 세 가지 서로 다른 굵기 0.018" × 0.025", 0.016" × 0.022", 0.016" 의 NiTi 와이어로 제작하였을 때 각각의 치아 이동 양상을 치아 이동 시뮬레이션 장치인 Calorific machine을 이용하여 3차원적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 가위교합에 이환된 상악 제2대구치 모형을 제작하고 제2소구치와 제1대구치 사이에 교정용 미니 임플랜트(orthodontic mini-implant)를 식립하여 제1대구치에 간접골성고정원을 설계하였다. 세 가지 굵기의 NiTi scissors-bite corrector를 부착하여 실험하였다. 치아의 이동 전후에 실험 모형은 computed tomography (CT)로 촬영하고 3차원 데이터로 변환하여 중첩하였다. 치아 이동 방향과 이동량을 계측하여, NiTi scissors-bite corrector 와이어 굵기에 따른 치아 이동 양상에 관한 통계적 유의성을 검정한 결과, 제2대구치 치관의 설측 이동량은 0.018" × 0.025"군(2.65 mm)이 가장 많았으며, 0.016"군(1.96 mm)과 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p < 0.05). 제2대구치 치관의 압하량은 0.018" × 0.025"군(2.35 mm), 0.016" × 0.022"군(1.18 mm), 0.016"군(1.00 mm)으로 0.018" × 0.025"군이 나머지 두 군과 유의한 차이를 보였고 (p < 0.05), 치근의 압하량은 0.018" × 0.025"군(4.19 mm), 0.016" × 0.022"군(3.29 mm), 0.016"군(2.24 mm)으로 세 군 간 모두 통계적 유의차를 보였다 (p < 0.05). 치아의 이동 양상을 관찰한 결과, 0.016"군에서는 제2대구치 치근의 협측 이동이 나타나지 않았다. 간접골성고정원으로 사용된 제1대구치의 고정원 소실은 0.2 mm 이하로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 0.018" × 0.025" NiTi 와이어로 제작한 NiTi scissors-bite corrector를 교정용 미니 임플랜트를 이용한 간접골성고정원과 함께 이용하였을때, 최소한의 고정원의 소실과 함께 가장 큰 상악 제2대구치의 설측 이동 및 압하가 일어났다고 할 수 있다.

        EFFECT OF EUGENOL AND CAPSAICIN ON THE VOLTAGE-DEPENDENT ION CHANNELS OF TRIGEMINAL AFFERENTS

        삼차신경절의 뉴런이 구강악안면영역에서의 촉각, 압각,온도각 및 통각 등 다양한 감각을 중추신경계로 전달하는 역할을 하는 것은 주지의 사실이다. 이러한 신경전달에 있어서 이온통로는 감각정보를 전달하는데 핵심적인 역할을 수행하며 특히 소디움 통로는 활동전위의 발생에 중요하다. 소디움 통로는 tetrodotoxin-sensitive(TTX-5) 및 tetrodotox-in-resistant(TTX-r) 통로로 나누어지는 데 이 중 TTX-r 통로에 발생되는 tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium cur-rent(TTX-r INa.)는 capsaicin에 민감한 일차구심신경세포에서 유해자극에 의해 통각신호를 발생시키고 전달하는데 중요하다. 또한 칼슘 통로는 시냅스 전토에 있어서 필수적인 역할을 수행하고 있다. 한편 치과영역에서 치수의 진정 목적으로 eugenol이 흔히 사용되고 있다. 그러나eugenol의 그 작용 기전에 대해서 현재까지 이온통로에 대한 상세한 결과가 없는 실정이며 최근의 보고에 의하면 eugenol이 capsaicin수용기를 통하여 감각신경에 대한 억제작용을 나타낸다고 한다. 따라서 본 실험은 eugenol과 capsaicin이 흰쥐의 삼차신경절의 TTX-r INa와 칼슘통로에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고 eugenol이 capsaicin 수용기를 통하여 작용하는지를 검증하고자 시행되었다 삼차신경절 뉴런은 100-150g의 흰쥐의 삼차신경절로부터 외과적으로 절제하여 통법의 화학적 및 기계적 처리를 통해 단일세포로 분리하였고 이를 Whole-cell patch clamp 방법을 이용하여 시행한 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1.1mM의 dugenol은 흰쥐 삼차신경절 뉴런의 TTX-r INa.와 HVA INa.를 억제하였다. 2.1㎛의 capsaicin은 흰쥐 삼차신경절 뉴런의 TTX-r INa 와 HVA INa 를 억제하였다 3.Capsazepine은 capsaicin의 HVA ICa 에 대한 억제작용을 차단하였다. 4.Capsazepine은 capsaicin의 HVA ICa .에 대한 억제작용을 차단하지 못하였다. 결론적 으로 eugenol과 capsaicin은 tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium current(TTX-r INa )와 high voltage-activated calcium current(HVA ICa )를 모두 억제하는 것으로 나타났으며 , 이러한 작용이 통각의 발생과 시냅스 전달과정을 차단하여 치수 진정 목적으로 많이 사용하는 eugenol의 작용기전으로 판단된다. 한편 capsaicin의 길항제인 capsazepine을 전처치하였을 때에도 eugenol의 HVA ICa 에 대한 억제효과는 변화가 없었다. 이와같은 결과로 보아 HVA ICa 에 관한한 eugenol은 capsaicin 수용기를 통하여 나타나지 않는 것으로 사료된다.

      • FEM에 의한 Al07075/CFRP 적층재의 탄성계수 해석

        As for the properties on both the aluminum and the CFRP which are used to make A17075/CERP multi-layered hybrid composites, CRALL(carbon reinforced aluminum laminate). For CRALL specimen, FEM analysis is compared with experimental results. It is shown that the rule of mixture is well agreed with experiment result in A/C 0001 layered 1 ply. However, differences are conceivable in A/C 0003 and A/C and A/C 0005 because of the effect of fiber volume fraction. In the A/C 0001 specimen case, the elastic modulus of the unnotched and circular notched CRALL specimen by FEM analysis are agreed with the experimental results, but that of A/C 0003 and A/C 0005 specimens had high CFRP volume fraction doesn't agree with experimental results.

        호르텐스극구흡충에서 Alkaline Phosphatase 및 Acid Phosphatase의 특성

        호르텐스극구흡충 성충 (adult worm)을 재료로 하여 acid phosphatase (Acp)와 alkaline phosphatase (Alp)의 조직 세포에 대한 분포 및 동위효소의 특성을 규명하기 위하여 Gomori lead nitrate 및 Gomori calcium 방법 그리고 전기영동법 등을 시행하였다. 조직 내의 Acp 및 Alp의 분포는 충체의 소장 (intestine)과 난황선 (vitellaria) 그리고 인두 (pharynx)에서 강한 반응을 나타냈다. 동위효소 유형은 Acp에서 179.5 및 209.4 kDa 두 개의 분획이 분리되었고, Alp은 145.9, 207.5 및 220.8 kDa의 세 개의 분획이 분리되었다. 열에 대한 안정도는 Alp가 90℃에서 12초 경과 후에 완전히 불활성화 되었으며, Alp의 최적 온도 및 pH는 40℃와 pH 9이었고 Acp의 최적 pH는 5였다. 그리고 Acp 및 Alp의 최대활성도 (unit)는 Acp가 71 범위였고, Alp는 189의 범위에 있었다. 이상에서와 같이 호르텐스극구흡충은 phosphatase가 소화관과 난황선에서 주로 분포하고 있었으며 숙주 체내에서 소화관을 중심으로 대사가 활발하게 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. This study was aimed to investigate the enzyme-histochemical localization and characteristics of alkaline and acid phosphatase extracted from adult of Echinostoma hortense. Using the Gomori calcium stain and the Gomori lead nitrate satin method, we found that the alkaline and acid phosphatases were localized mostly in the intestine, vitellaria and pharynx of Echinostoma hortense. The three isozymes of alkaline phosphatase and two isozymes of acid phosphatase were separated from Echinostoma hortense by electrophoresis. The isozymes of alkaline phosphatase were 145.9, 207.5, 220.8 kDa and the isozymes of acid phosphatase were 175.9 and 209.4 kDa. The activity of alkaline phosphatase was denatured completely after heating at 90℃ for 12 seconds. The optimum pH and temperature for activity of alkaline phosphatase were about pH 9 and 40℃, while the optimum pH for activity of acid phosphatase was about pH 5. The maximum activity of alkaline phosphatase was at 189 unit, but maximum activity of acid phosphatase was at 71 unit. As the result from above, we observed that alkaline and acid phosphatases funtion mainly in the alimentary tract and vitellaria. Echinostoma hortense performs the parasitism in the intestine of host by using proper isozyme of phosphatase.
