        In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Ribavirin Against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Myung Jin LEE1, Kye-Hyung KIM1, Jongyoun YI2, SuJin CHOI1, Chung-Jong KIM1, Nak- Hyun KIM1, Kyoung-Ho SONG1, Pyoeng Gyun CHOI1, Ji-Hwan BANG1, Wan Beom PARK1, Eu Suk KIM1, Sang-Won PARK1, Hong Bin KIM1, Nam Joong KIM1, Myoung- Don OH1 Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea1, Pusan National University School of Medicine, Korea2 Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a novel Bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

        In this paper, we evaluate transmission channel characteristics of telephone cable to be used in general. First, we measured the impedances of open and short circuits in order to obtain the RLCG parameters per unit length of transmission line. And we obtained the frequency-dependent transfer function and propagation constant for transmission line using these values. The channel impulse response is derived from the inverse Fourier of transfer function. We design channel equalizer for ADSL(Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) using the measured impulse response of channel. The results shows that the transfer characteristics decrease sharply according to the length of transmission line. Finally, we verify efficacy of the proposed method by means of simulation.

        압좌시킨 이개 연골을 이용한 안저 골결손의 재건

        A numerous materials have been used for reestablishing continuity of the orbital floor in orbital floor fracture. Traditionally autogeneous bone has been utilized for reconstructing orbital floor defect but autogeneous bone has criticized for unpredictable resorption, donor site morbidity and difficulty in shaping and fixation. Alloplastic materials have gained some popularity because of their availability and ease of use but they disadvantages like infection. extrusion and implant displacement. There is an alternative to bone grafts and inorganic implants fir reconstruction of orbital floor defect; auricular conchal cartilage, however, has convolution so the authors have made the conchal cartilage flat and malleable by crusher. Crushed autogenuous conchal cartilage has proved to be a material that is easy to obtain and shape and can reliably support the orbit without evidence of resorption. Crushed autogeneous conchal cartilage offers an attractive alternative to inorganic implants and bone grafts in properly selected patient for orbital floor reconstruction.

        부적절한 예방화학요법 후 지연 발현된 Plasmodium vivax 말라리아 1 예

        Malaria is the world's most important parasitic infection. Although it has been erw5cated from temperate zones including Korea, increasing numbers of travellers visit tropical malarious countries and imported malaria becomes important medical problem in the developed countries. In Korea with increasing travellers to malaria-endemic area, the incidence of imported malaria shows rising tendency same as the developed countries. It becomes important to personal general personal protective measures and chemoprophylaxis to trevellers, when employed in appropriate manner, that can be highly effective in preventing malaria. We recently experienced a case of in Plasmodium vivax malaria with delayed manifestations due to inadequate chemoprophylaxis. A 53-year-old woman with history of trevel to East Africa 4 months ago and chief complaint of fever was diagnosed as tertian malaria. She had irregularly taken prophylatic antimalarial during travel and had not taken it after return but should have taken it at least 4 weeks after return.

      • 바둑 수 위치 표시 방법에 대한 연구 : 귀 기점 좌표 방식의 제안 Proposal for Corner as Starting Point in Coordinates Method

        In this paper, problems of the existing location marking system for the moves are pointed out and proposed a new system for structural reform (new formation) of the location mark and also discussed the necessity and characteristic of introducing this method. The newly introduced marking system in this article is corner coordinate method which takes four comers as the starting points. We carried out, to prove handiness of the new system, two experiments for comparing the existing system (19 × 19) with the review of a record of the game. In experiment 1, the speed of placing of the moves and accuracy between two systems, and we found that there was no difference. This shows that the new system is neither complicated nor difficult than the existing system. And in experiment 2, comparing the speed of the placing stones from reading a recorded game and the comer starting point system, the new system was faster in speed. This kind of result shows the convenience of the comer starting point system. Lastly, we have canvassed that utilization method of the comer starting point coordinate system and the need of international standardization of marking system.

        This study suggest viewpoint and standpoint of interpretative approach methods which reconceptualize inquiry of physical education curriculum. Therefore its concrete objects are to discuss the meaning of the problems which has not been argued or been missed since now in traditional paradigm of physical education curriculum. Interpretative approach of physical education which was based on symbolic interrelationship, phenomenological sociology and popular custom methodology focused on the problems of social situation and human consciousness. Interpretative approach in inquiry of physical education curriculum mean existential experience that human could has. Therefore it is not the way of plan and design the content of instruction, but it is a way to reflect of own experiences and investigate its meaning, so that it has educational prospect of present and future. Consequently it can establish true-self.

        4세 유아에 발생한 몰입성 하마종(plunging ranula); 증례보고

        Whereas oral ranula is relatively common and presents as a cyst in the mouth, the plunging ranula is rare and manifests itself as a mass in the neck with or without an associated oral lesion. When there is a soft anterior neck swelling without oral swelling, diagnosis is still difficult. In such a case, clinical suspicion may be low and the pathologist may be misled by the histologic appearance. Recognition of the diagnosis of plunging ranula is essential for the correct treatment of these lesions We report a case of a 4-year-old girl and review the literatures to discuss the differential diagnosis and treatment modalities.

      • 산화툴륨의 결함구조와 전기전도성에 대한 연구

        산화툴륨의 전기전도도를 400~1100℃의 온도영역과 10^-6~10^-1atm의 산소분압범위에서 측정하였다. 일정한 산소분압에서 전기전도도의 대수값을 절대온도의 역수에 대하여 도시한결과 직선관계를 얻었으며 inflection point가 나타났다. 활성화에너지는 고온영역에서 34.5kcal/mole, 저온영역에서 19.3kcal/mole이었다. 전기전도도의 산소분압의존성은 직선관계를 나타내었으며 600~1100℃의 온도영역에서 σ∝Po_2^1/5.3, 400~600℃의 온도영역에서σ∝Po_2^1/6.3이었다. 고온영역에서의 주결함은 V_??이며, 저온영역에서는 O_?? 임이 밝혀졌다. 전도도의 온도 및 산소분압의존성을 해석하였으며, 전도메카니즘을 제시하였다. The electrical conductivity of thulium sesquioxide has been measured from 400 to 1100℃ under oxygen partial pressure (Po_2) of 10^-6 to 10^-1 atm. Plots of log conductivity vs. 1/T at constant Po_2 are found to be linear with inflection point and the activation energies obtained from the slopes are 34.5kcal/mole in the higher temperature region and 19.3kcal/mole in the lower temperature region. The Po_2 dependences of the electrical conductivity are found to be linear and closely approximated by σ∝Po_2^1/5.3 in the temperature range of 600-1100℃ and σ∝Po_2^1/6.3 in the range of 400-600℃. The dominant defect is V_?? in the higher temperature region and O_?? in the lower temperature region. The interpretations of conductivity dependences on temperature and Po_2 are presented and conduction mechanisms are suggested to illustrate the data.
