        Echinostoma hortense를 실험 감염시킨 흰쥐 장상피에서 림프구 (IEL) 증감에 관한 연구

        저자들은 호르텐스극구흡충을 실험적으로 흰쥐(Sprague Dawley)에 감염시켰을 때 장상피내 램프구 (intraepithelial lymphocytes: IEL)의 증감여부를 관찰하였다. 즉, 피낭유충을 경구 감염시킨 다음 1주일부터 8주일까지 격주별로 소장점막에서 IEL의 수치, 융모/선와의 비 (villus/crypt ratio)등을 현미경적으로 관찰하였다. 감염 흰쥐는 격주별로 희생시켰으며 소장의 십이장과 공장부위의 조직을 획득하여 조직절편을 제작하였고, Hematoxylin-eosin 및 Giemsa 염색을 실시한 후 IEL 수, 위치의 변동을 현미경적으로 관찰하였다. 융모 위축과 선와 증식, V/C ratio의 감소를 특징으로 하는 장병변은 감염 1주일 경과한 소장에서 가장 심하였으며 이 병변은 8주일까지 계속되고 있었다. IEL은 감염 1주일에 급속하게 감소하였다가 서서히 증가하다가 8주일 때에는 다소 감소하는 결과를 보였다. 대조군에서 IEL은 대부분 장상피층의 기저부에 위치하였으나, 감염 초기에는 많은 IEL이 장상피세포의 핵주변부와 상층부에 분포하는 것이 특이하였다. 이와 같이 호르텐스극구흡충 감염시 나타나는 IEL 수 및 위치의 변동은 장병변의 진행과정과 관련이 있음을 알 수 있었다. The relationship between the intestinal histopathology and number and position of intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) was observed chronologically in the small intestine of rats experimentally infected with Echinostoma hortense. Sprague-Dawley rats were orally infected with 200 metacercariae obtained from Misgurnus anguillicaudatus. The rats each were sacrificed on the week 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 post-infection (PI) and samples of the intestine in the part of duodenum and jejunum were taken. The samples were stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and Giemsa. The intestinal histopathology was the severest after the week 1 PI and characterized by villous atrophy, crypt hyperplasia and decrease of villus/crypt(v/c) ratio, which continued until the week 8 PI. The number of IEL dramatically decreased during the week 1 PI, but increased gradually thereafter with a slight decrease on the week 8 PI. In control rats, the great majority of the IEL were located at the basal region of the epithelium. During the early stage of infection, however, we found a considerable proportion of IEL to moved to the intermediate or apical regions of the epithelium. From the above results, it is sugested that the change of IEL number and position during the course of E. hortense infection should be closely related to the progression and recovery of the intestinal histopathology.

      • 수술실 오염도감소를 위한 수술실공조시스템에 대한 연구

        Background: The OR(operating room) should provide an optimum environment that is safe for the patient and the working personnel. The air ventilation system of OR has been studied to decrease the contamination of air. We investigated the flow and contamination of the air in OR at our hospital. Method: Cultures in OR were made and the number of bacteria and fungi were calculated. A two-dimensional model for the cross-section of an operation room is developed for the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis. The characteristics of air flow in the empty operation room and in the occupied operation room are calculated by using a CFD program. Results: The current air ventilation system of our hospital does not deliver the clean air to the operating site efficiently in occupied OR. Conclusions: We suggested a new location of air ventilation system which improves air venting with little increase of the cost of equipment.

      • 젊은 남자 성인의 칼슘과 철의 영양상태에 관한 연구

        A survey was performed to 174 male young men who were living alone(40 persons) and shared living with friends(4143 persons) in Chungnam province. Their average age was 22.6 years old, height 171.8 ㎝, and weight 65.6 ㎏. Their daily calcium intake level was averaged 271.9±169.1 ㎎, which was 38.8 %RDA. Comparing calcium intake of each mealtime, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks were composed of 18.6%, 30.0%, 34.0% and 17.4%, respectively. Their daily iron intake level was averaged 8.9±10.8 ㎎, which was 74.3 %RDA. Comparing iron intake of each mealtime, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks were composed of 15.4%, 33.6%, 36.3% and 14.7%, respectively. These results suggested that deficiency of the two minerals in young male adults were severe and the nutrient qualities were also poor, no matter of their living alone or with accompanies. The deficiency was more profound in calcium than iron. And we observed iron nutriture differed significantly according to their living status, such as iron intake and its %RDA were significantly worse in single living subjects than the others. However calcium did not show significant difference. We concluded that shared living environment in young male adults could possibly improve their dietary mineral intake levels.

      • 요하지통 환자에서 두 개의 캐눌라를 이용한 박동성 고주파 신경근 응고술의 임상 연구

        Dorsal root ganglion(DRG) block by the local anesthetics and steroids which has done classically in low back pain(LBP) patients with radiculopathy has high incidence of recurrence rate and side effects of steroids. Recently a new technique of pulsed radiofrequency thermocoagulation(P-RFTC) was introduced and substituted for it because of the benefits such as relatively low recurrence rate, low risk of nerve injury and comfort during the procedure. We experienced 15 patients who had LBP with radiculopathy and no or little response to epidural steroid injection. When we performed DR ganglionotomy by P- RFTC under the C-arm guide in these patients, we tried to approach the exact DR ganglion using tow cannulas - the one for obtaining patient's subjective symptoms and injection of contrast dye, the other for making a RF lesioning after identifying the impedance of sensory and motor stimulation. In conclusion, DR ganglionotomy by P- RFTC using two cannulas in LBP patients is an easy and safe procedure with satisfactory results.

      • RAPD 분석을 이용한 Fusarium 속(Genus)내 13종간의 분류학적 위치 규명

        Fusarium 13종의 분류학적 위치를 규명하기 위하여 arbitrary decamer primers를 사용하여 polymerase chain reaction-random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) 방법을 사용하여 유전적인 다양성을 조사하였고, 증폭된 DNA의 PCR band patterns를 기초로 하여 UPGMA 방법으로 dendrogram을 그려 각 종간의 유사도를 구하였다. 선별한 8개의 primer에서는 평균적으로 1-9개의 bands가 0.1-3.0kb의 범위에서 나타나는 양상을 보였다. 13종간의 계통 분류학적 유사도는 0.58-0.85 사이로 나타났고, 가장 높은 유사도는 0.85로 section Elegans에 속하는 F. oxysporum과 section Liseola에 속하는 F.subglutinans 간에서 관찰되었다. To clarify the taxonomical classification of the genus Fusarium 13 species, genetic variation among them was assessed by RAPD using 8 arbitrary decamer primers. Similarity values were calculated from PCR patterns and based on these values a dendrogram was constructed by UPGMA method. We confirmed that the use of the RAPD procedure make it possible to distinguish among different species. The range of genetic similarity value among selected 13 species is 0.58 - 0.85, and the highest clustered value was 0.85 between F. subglutinans and F. oxysporum, which were belonged to different section.

        증류수와 인공타액에서 충전용 글래스 아이오노머 시멘트의 불소유리량에 대한 평가

        The purpose of this study was to compare the amount and pattern of fluoride release from restorative cements into de-ionized water with that in artificial saliva . Three light-curing glass ionomers , a water-setting glass ionomer⁴, two conventional glass ionomers and a resin-based material were selected. Sixteen cylindrical samples(6.5mm×2.5mm)of each cement were prepared. Each was individually suspended in 5ml of either de-ionized water or artificial saliva(eight samples in each medium) and stored at 37℃. The media were changed and fluoride concentration was measured with fluoride electrode for 90 days. The data showed that: (1) Cumulative fluoride release from Ketac-Fil, Dyract and VariGlass VLC into the artificial saliva was significantly less than in de-ionized water(p<0.05) as tested by ANOVA. The cumulative amounts of fluoride into the saliva were 2.52, 0.10 and 0.65 ㎎F /㎤. And they accounts for 49%, 14% and 84% of the amounts into de-ionized water respectively; (2) Ketac-Fil released more fluoride than other materials in both media(p<0.001). Vitremer, Iono Gem, and Dyract released 37%, 38%, and 13% of the cumulative amount of fluoride from Ketac-Fil into deionized water, respectively, but they released 73%, 78%, and 4% of that into artificial saliva, respectively. It is concluded that the release of fluoride from some restorative glass ionomers is highly variable according to the medium in which glass ionomer is stored, and so artificial saliva should be used to test fluoride release of restorative glass ionomer cements.

        Genotoxicity Safety Evaluation on Gamma-Irradiated Milk and Icecream

        Gamma irradiation can be applied to the dairy products for eradicating microbial contamination and making hypo-allergenic foods. However irradiation technology has not been put practical use because of prejudice against safety of gamma-irradiation. To evaluate the safety of gamma-irradiated dairy product, genotoxicological test was performed. In vitro mutagenicity of gamma-irradiated milk and ice cream (5, 10 kGy) was evaluated by chromosome aberration test in the presence or absence of metabolizing activation (S-9 mix). And in vivo safety test was carried out by the micronucleus test in ICR mice. The gamma-irradiated milk and icecream did not increase chromosome aberration rate at any irradiation doses or concentration. In micronucleus test, gamma-irradiated milk and icecream did not induce any significant increase statistically in micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MNPCE) at any irradiation doses. These results of this study indicate that irradiation on milk and icecream may not induce genotoxicity and can be an additional safety tool for manufacturing dairy products.
