        '1998 한국인 우울증 선별의 날' 참가자들의 사회인구통계학적 특성과 우울증 선별검사 결과

        연구목적 : 1998년 정신건강의 날 기념 한국인 우울증 선별의 날 행사에 자발적으로 참여한 참가자들의 사회인구 통계학적 특성을 분석하고 우울증 선별검사 결과를 평가하기 위하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법 : 8개 병원에서 얻어진 619명의 자료를 사용하여 선별검사로 밝혀진 우울증의 유병율과 사회인구통계학적 특성 및 응답자의 정신과적 치료를 포함한 과거력 등을 조사하였다. 결 과 : 우울증 척도 점수는 응답자 전체 평균 57.5±13.8로 경도의 우울 증상이 있는 것에 해당되었다. 전체 응답자의 69.5%(430명)가 최소한 경도 이상의 우울 증상을, 43.1%(267명)가 중등도 이상의 우울 증상을, 18.4%(114명)가 고도의 우울 증상을 보였다. 고도의 우울 증상이 있는 응답자의 56.8%와 중등도의 우울 증상이 있는 응답자의 63.9%가 정신과 치료를 받은 적이 전혀 없었다. 나이가 29세 이하인 것과 전임근무 중인 직업상태는 각각 나이가 60세 이상인 것과 직업이 없는 것에 비교하여 우울증으로부터 보호하는 인자임을 시사하였다. 결 론 : '1998 한국인 우울증 선별의 날' 행사를 통하여 많은 우울증 환자들을 선별해낼 수 있었고, 이들의 우울 증상은 몇몇 사회인구통계학적 특성과 유의한 관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 우울증 선별의 날 행사를 통한 우울증에 대한 교육과 우울증 선별검사는 치료받지 못하고 있는 우울증 환자 및 기존의 치료 중인 환자 모두에게 유용한 프로그램임을 알 수 있었다. Objectives : This study was performed to analyze the sociodemographic characteristics of participants in '1998 Korean Depression Screening Day' and to evaluate the results of the screening test. Methods : By using the survey results of 619 volunteers from 8 hospitals, the authors examined the prevalence of depression detected at the screening test and sociodemographic characteristics and the psychiatric treatment history of respondents. The assessment measure was the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale. Results : The mean depression score of all participants was 57.5±13.8 and it came under mild depression. Of all participants, 69.5%(N=430) had at least mild depressive symptoms, 43.1%(N=267) had at least moderate symptoms, and 18.4%(N=114) had severe symptoms. Never have 56.8% of respondents in the severely depressed range and 63.9% of those in the moderately depressed range had psychiatric treatment. The results suggest that the age group of 29-year-old or younger(relative to 60-year-old or older group) and full-time employment status(relative to unemployment) are protective factors of depression. Conclusions : By '1998 Korean Depression Screening Day', many depressed patients were detected and their depressive symptoms had statistically significant relationships with some sociodemographic characteristics. The results suggest that the education and screening test programs for depressive illness facilitated by Depression Screening Day are useful to the patients regardless of being under current treatment or not.

        제조업 산업장의 유기용제 노출에 관한 연구

        Objective : For the purpose of preparing the fundamental data and health promotion and control program on organic solvents in air of manufacturing industry. Methods : The author surveyed number of organic solvent components which was used in working site and also determined the organic solvents concentration in air of 927 manufacturing industries and 1,267 working process with gas chromatography(NIOSH manual) for five years from 1995 to 1999. Results : Mean numbers of solvents components by type of industry, working process was number of 12. There were exceeded to TLV of 1,2-dichloroethane in textile manufacturing industry N,N-dimethyl furan in tanning and dressing of leather ; luggage, handbags, saddlery, harness and footwear manufacturing industry and chemical and chemical product manufacturing industry by type of industry. There were exceeded to TLV of 1,2-dichloroethane in handwriting and drawing process, cellosolove in adhesive spreading process, N,N-dimethly furan in production of solvent process and adhesion process by working process. Total exceeded rate to threshold limit values of organic solvents mixture were 12.9% for EI(Exposure index) and 10.0% for Em(Estimation of mixture) by type of industry, 11.3% for EI and 8.2% for Em by type of working process. The highest exceed rate was 36.7% for EI in tanning and dressing of leather ; luggage handbags, saddlery, harness and footwear manufacturing industry and 29.0% for Em in textile manufacturing industry. the highest exceeded rate was 23.1% for EI and 12.5% for Em in adhesive spreading process by working process. Mean values of total subjects by type of industry and type of working process were 0.7±1.8 for EI and 0.7±1.7 for Em respectively. Conclusions : As above results, the author suggest that it makes the environmental control program on 1.2-dichloro-ethane, N,N-dimethyl furan, cellosolve by kind of organic solvent and on textile manufacturing industry, tanning and dressing of leather ; luggage, handbags, saddlery harness and footwear manufacturing industry by type of industry, and on handwriting, drawing process and adhesive spreading process and adhesion process by type of working process.

        2014년 10월 2일부터 4일까지 강원도 양양군 하조대 일대를 한국거미연구회 회원(김주필, 예용택, 신정애, 예성훈, 성민규, 이정준, 채준호)들이 조사 연구한 결과 11과 18속 20종이 채집되었기에 이에 보고하는 바이다. The authors investigated the spiders of the Hajodae beach (Gangwon-Do, Yangyang-Gun). In the present paper 20 species of 18 genera belong to 11 families were identified. These specimens are deposited at the Joo-Pil Spider Museum, Namyangju-Si, Gyeonggi-Do.

        Effects of Baicalin on Oral Pharmacokinetics of Caffeine in Rats

        Scutellaria baicalensis is one of the most widely used herbal medicines in East Asia. Because baicalein and baicalin are major components of this herb, it is important to understand the effects of these compounds on drug metabolizing enzymes, such as cytochrome P450 (CYP), for evaluating herb-drug interaction. The effects of baicalin and baicalein on activities of ethoxyresoru- fin O-deethylase (EROD), methoxyresorufin O-demethylase (MROD), benzyloxyresorufin O-debenzylase (BROD), p-nitrophenol hydroxylase and erythromycin N-demethylase were assessed in rat liver microsomes in the present study. In addition, the pharmacokinetics of caffeine and its three metabolites (i.e., paraxanthine, theobromine and theophylline) in baicalin-treated rats were compared with untreated control. As results, EROD, MROD and BROD activities were inhibited by both baicalin and baicalein. However, there were no significant differences in the pharmacokinetic parameters of oral caffeine and its three metabolites between control and baicalin-treated rats. When the plasma concentration of baicalin was determined, the maximum concentration of baicalin was below the estimated IC50 values observed in vitro. In conclusion, baicalin had no effects on the pharmacokinetics of caffeine and its metabolites in vivo, following single oral administration in rats.

      • Dynamics of a Heparin-Binding Domain of VEGF<sub>165</sub> Complexed with Its Inhibitor Triamterene

        <P>Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which has neurotrophic and neuroprotective effects in addition to its major role in angiogenesis, interacts with Aβ and accumulates in the senile plaques of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients’ brains. It is known that Aβ binds to the heparin-binding domain (HBD) of the 165-amino acid VEGF variant, VEGF<SUB>165</SUB>. In this study, we showed that triamterene (Trm) inhibits VEGF–Aβ interaction without affecting other biological activities of VEGF or Aβ. We investigated the importance of structural and dynamic features of HBD for its molecular-recognition processes. The binding model of HBD and Trm was constructed based on measurements of chemical shift changes and docking study. The results showed that the loop region (S11–L17) and F18 at the beginning of the first β-sheet in the HBD constitute the inhibitor binding site. The N1 atom of pteridine ring of Trm forms hydrogen bonding with backbone amide proton of R13, and the phenyl ring took part in a hydrophobic interaction with the aromatic ring of F18. To investigate the functional importance of the inherent structural flexibility of the HBD in VEGF, the dynamic properties of free HBD and HBD–Trm complex were assessed by measuring spin relaxation rates, and the backbone dynamics were investigated by model-free analysis. The residues in the disordered loop region of the N-terminus exhibited conformational exchanges in free HBD, and flexibility of this loop region decreased dramatically upon binding to Trm, suggesting that Aβ as well as inhibitor may recognize these unique dynamic features of the HBD. Furthermore, C-terminal residues continued to exhibit slow conformational motions, even in the HBD–Trm complex, implying that these motions at the C-terminus of the HBD might be important for interactions with heparin molecules.         Aspergillus niger에서 단백질분해효소 결합 돌연변이주의 제조 및 특성규명

        A niger를 숙주로 사용하여 이종유전자를 발현할 때 A. niger로부터 분비되는 단백질분해효소에 의해 생산된 단백질이 분해되는 문제점이 있기 때문에 단백질분해효소 결함 돌연변이주의 개발이 필요하다. 본 실험에서는 A. niger의 conidiospore를 자외선으로 처리한 후 skim milk plate에서 투명환 형성 능력을 측정함으로써 A. niger의 단백질분해효소 결함 돌연변이주들을 선별하고, 이들의 유전적 특성을 조사하였다. 선별된 돌연변이주들은 모균주에 비해 3-85% 정도의 단백질분해효소 활성을 가지고 있었으며, 특히 산성 조건하에서 단백질분해효소의 활성이 모균주의 3%와 49%를 가지고 있는 ANPD-129와 ANPD-153은 알칼리 조건하에서도 모균주의 27%와 13% 만을 가지고 있었다. 대부분의 단백질분해효소 결함 돌연변이주들과는 달리 ANPD-129와 ANPD-153은 모균주와 비슷한 생장속도를 보였다. 이 두 돌연변이주들 간에 형성된 이배체는 단백질 분해효소를 모균주와 비슷하게 분비하였는데 이것을 통하여 두 돌연변이가 서로 다른 유전자 좌위에서 일어났다는 것을 알 수 있었다. ANPD-129와 ANPD-153을 대상으로 chromosome mapping을 수행한 결과 ANPD-129는 linkage group Ⅵ에 그리고 ANPD-153은 linkage group Ⅲ에 돌연변이가 일어난 것을 확인할 수 있었다. Several protease-deficient mutants of Aspergillus niger have been isolated by halo-screening on skim milk plate after UV irradiation of condiospores. The extracellular proteolytic activities of the mutant strains grown in an optimized medium varied from 3% to 85% of that of the parental strain. Especially, two mutant strains named as ANPD-129 and ANPD-153, which had 3% and 49% of acid protease activity of the parental strain, respectively, were further characterized both physiologically and genetically. The growth rates of the mutants, ANPD-129 and ANPD-153, were similar to that of the parental strain, unlike other protease-deficient mutants. The dipolid formed between the two mutants restored protease acitivity to a similar level of that of the parental strain. This result revealed that ANPD-129 and ANPD-153 had mutations at different loci. Using master strains with marked chromosomes these loci were assigned to linkage groups. The mutation locus (prt129) in ANPD-129 was assigned to linkage group Ⅵ and the locus (prt153) in ANPD-153 to linkage group Ⅲ.
