        성인의 급성 심장사에서 정상 심장례의 분석

        The authors analysed 53 cases of sudden cardiac death(SCD) without prominent structural abnormalies of heart out of witnessed 300 cases. Thirty four cases were associated with sleep and 19 with activity or rest. Twenty one cases were classified as having normal hearts, and the rest as structurally mild abnormal ones. Male was predominant, and almost of the victims were suffered in their twenties or thirties. All cases collapsed instantaneously or in very short time with various and not specific terminal symptoms. Inducing or trigger factors are not clarified in almost of the cases. Mechanisms or causes of death could not be defined clearly. We concluded that careful heart examination with detailed clinical history under the appropriate postmortem investigation system is only effective approach for the true mechanism and cause of death.

        DBA/2J 생쥐에서 점안 안압하강제 투여 후 망막신경세포구성의 변화

        Purpose: The DBA/2J (D2) mouse is a transgenic mouse with pigmentary glaucoma. In a previous study, we found a reduction of inner retinal thickness in D2 mice. We attempted to discover the effect of eye drops on the retina of D2 mice. Methods: Ten-month-old D2 mouse eyes were treated with Timoptic XE?, Cosopt?, and Xalacom? eye drops for a 1-month period. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on the mouse eye sections for analysis. Results: In the control group, GABA and OPN immunoreactivity were markedly decreased and NOS immunoreactivity was increased. In all experimental group, GABA and OPN immunoreactivity were increased, and OPN immunoreactivity was markedly increased especially in the Cosopt?group. NOS immunoreactivity was decreased in all experimental groups. There was no difference in glycine immunoreactivity between the control and experimental groups. Conclusions: Combination anti-glaucoma eye-drops to the D2 mouse changed the retinal neuronal population and these drugs might play an important role in the mechanisms of retinal neuronal death; potential strategies for neuroprotection should therefore be evaluated.

        Characterization of a renewable extracellular polysaccharide from defatted microalgae Dunaliella tertiolecta

        Extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) was isolated from defatted micro-algae Dunaliela tertiolecta and defined as linear (1→4)-α-d-glucan based on monosaccharide composition, enzymatic and spectroscopic analyses. Optimization and characterization of acidic and enzymatic hydrolyses of EPS have been performed for its potential use as a renewable biorefinery material. The hydrolytic methods were improved to assess the effect of substrate specificity, reaction time, pH, ionic strength and temperature on efficiency of glucose production. EPS was effectively converted into glucose within one-step enzymatic or acidic hydrolysis under optimized conditions. Over 90% recovery of glucose was achieved for both hydrolytic approaches. High potential production of EPS and high yield conversion of this substrate to glucose may allow further exploration of microalga D. tertiolecta as a potential biomass producer for biotechnological and industrial exploitation of bioethanol.

      • Evaluating the Necessity of Routine Monitoring of Netilmicin Serum Concentrations in Korean Pediatric Patients with Normal Renal Fuction

        목적:정상 신기능을 가진 소아 환자에서의 아미노글리코사이드의 추천된 유지용량을 사용했을 때 정기적인 혈중농도의 검사 없이 신독성을 나타내지 않으면서 임상증상의 호전이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 국내 소아 환자에서도 아미노글리코사이드 사용으로 혈청 크레아티닌이 임상적으로 의미 있게 증가하는지 용량 조절 없이 약물 최고와 최하 농도에 도달하는지 감염에 대한 증상과 검사 결과의 호전이 있는지 알기 위해 netilmicin을 사용한 환자를 대상으로 본 연구를 하게 되었다. 방법:3개월에서 14세 사이 연령의 16명의 환자에서 2mg/kg/dose의 netilmicin을 8시간 간격으로 정맥주사 하여 치료시작 24∼32시간내에 약물 최고농도는 주사 30분 후에, 최저농도는 다음 주사 직전에 채취아였다. 혈청 크레아티닌은 치료 시작과 종료시 측정하였으며 약물 혈중농도의 측정은 TDX system으로 하였고 이 결과의 pharmacokinetic parameter는 Simkin PC Clinical Database System으로 계산하였다. 환자의 임상 호전의 결과를 보기 위하여 백혈구 수치와 체온은 치료 72시간 후에 구해졌다. 통계 분석은 paired t-test를 사용하여 시행되었다. 결과:16명의 환자에서 평균연령 3.5±3.2세, 평균체중 15.2±8.5 kg이며, 백혈구 수치는 초기 14.9±6.6×103/mm3, 치료 72시간 후 6.6±1.gx103/mm3, 펑균 체온은 37.7±1℃에서 36.3±0.4℃로 떨어졌다. 투약된 환자 평균약물용량은 2.06±0.4이며 펑균 치료 기간은 7.6±2.3일이고 약물의 최고 혈중 농도는 5.5±1.7 mg/mL, 최저농도는 0.5±0.3 mg/mL 펑균 혈청 크레아티닌은 치료 초기는 0.52±0.19 mg/dL, 치료 종료시 0.46±0.11 mg/dL (P=0.209)였다. 약물 최저농도는 2 mcg/mL 이상 없었으며 혈청 크레아티닌은 0.5 mg/dL (P=0.201)로 증가하지 않았다. 결론:본원 소아 환자에서 Netilmicin의 약물농도 검사결과, 백혈구 수치와 체온의 감소로 임상 증상의 호전을 볼 수 있었다. 혈청 크레아티닌의 변화가 없어 치료 시작에서 끝까지 약물 용량을 조절할 필요가 없었다. 이상의 결과로 정상적인 신기능을 가진 한국 소아 환자에서 아미노글리코사이드의 정기적인 약물 농도 검사가 필요하지 않음을 알 수 있다.         Purpose: Endoscopic surgery to treat thyroid neoplasm was developed to solve the aesthetic problems that resulted from conventional open surgery. Although endoscopic thyroidectomy was initially performed in patients with benign thyroid neoplasm, its use has recently been extended to patients with Graves's disease and early cases of thyroid cancer.The purpose of this study was to determine whether this surgical approach is feasible and safe for the treatment of thyroid cancer. Methods: Between December 1999 and April 2006, 132 thyroid cancer patients at our institution were treated by either conventional thyroidectomy or endoscopic thyroidectomy. Endoscopic thyroidectomy was conducted using a gasless anterior neck skin lifting method. The inclusion criteria for endoscopic thyroidectomy in thyroid cancer patients included a tumor size of less than 2cm, absence of extrathyroidal extension, absence of cervical lymph node metastasis, and well differentiated cancers. Results: We performed endoscopic thyroidectomy in 29 thyroid cancer patients. There were no significant differences in operative time, the amount of drainage and the number of retrieved lymph nodes between conventional thyroidectomy and endoscopic thyroidectomy. In addition, although endoscopic thyroidectomy was associated with more complications, it was also associated with a shorter hospital stay. Conclusion: The completeness of surgical resection conducted via an endoscopic thyroidectomy may be comparable to that of conventional surgery, however, a larger series and longer follow-up evaluation are necessary for definitive conclusions to be drawn about its oncologic validity.       • HIGH RESOLUTION OPTICAL AND NIR SPECTRA OF HBC 722

        <P>We present the results of high resolution (R >= 30,000) optical and near-IR spectroscopic monitoring observations of HBC 722, a recent FU Orionis object that underwent an accretion burst in 2010. We observed HBC 722 in the optical/near-IR with the Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph, Hobby-Eberly Telescope-HRS, and Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph, at various points in the outburst. We found atomic lines with strongly blueshifted absorption features or P Cygni profiles, both evidence of a wind driven by the accretion. Some lines show a broad double-peaked absorption feature, evidence of disk rotation. However, the wind-driven and disk-driven spectroscopic features are anti-correlated in time; the disk features became strong as the wind features disappeared. This anti-correlation might indicate that the rebuilding of the inner disk was interrupted by the wind pressure during the first 2 years. The half-width at half-depth of the double-peaked profiles decreases with wavelength, indicative of the Keplerian rotation; the optical spectra with the disk feature are fitted by a G5 template stellar spectrum convolved with a rotation velocity of 70 km s(-1) while the near-IR disk features are fitted by a K5 template stellar spectrum convolved with a rotation velocity of 50 km s(-1). Therefore, the optical and near-IR spectra seem to trace the disk at 39 and 76 R-circle dot, respectively. We fit a power-law temperature distribution in the disk, finding an index of 0.8, comparable to optically thick accretion disk models.</P>

        HIGH RESOLUTION OPTICAL SPECTRA OF HBC 722 AFTER OUTBURST

        We report the results of our high resolution optical spectroscopic monitoring campaign (${\lambda}$ = 3800 ~ 8800 ${\AA}$, R = 30000 - 45000) of the new FU Orionis-type object HBC 722. We observed HBC 722 with the BOES 1.8-m telescope between November 26 and December 29, 2010, and FU Orionis itself on January 26, 2011. We detect a number of previously unreported high-resolution K I and Ca II lines beyond 7500 ${\AA}$. We resolve the H${\alpha}$ and Ca II line profiles into three velocity components, which we attribute to both disk and outflow. The increased accretion during outburst can heat the disk to produce the relatively narrow absorption feature and launch outflows appearing as high velocity blue and red-shifted broad features.

        '금정굴' 유골에 대한 남녀 구분을 위한 형태학적 조사와 유전자 검사

        At "Keumjung-gul" site, bones of more than 153 persons are excavated in October 1995. They were interred in Autumn of 1950 during Koean War. Among them, 70 skulls were examined in morphological method and DNA test for sex determination. With PCR amplification of amelogenin, 60 skulls were proved male, 9; female, 1; not amplified. Result with Y27H39LR, SRY and alphoid repeats were not satisfactory. The morphologic determination for sex were made maily by (1) prominence of the supercilliary arch,(2) prominence of the external occipital protuberance and crest, (3) size and shape of the mastoid process. The concurrence rate between two examiner, and between two morphologic result and DNA result were low (〈70%), largely because of the subjectivity of morphologic trait and the paucity of experiences.

        Progress of physics studies in the Hanbit mirror device

        The Hanbit is a complex mirror device that has a slot and a double half-turn antennas in the central cell to launch high power ion cyclotron resonance frequency range waves for plasma production, heating, and stabilization. However, there is no other device, such as a neutral beam injector, to heat the plasma ions. Hanbit also has three low-power supplies to launch electron cyclotron resonance frequency range waves for heating electrons. Under these circumstances, the main physics study in the Hanbit device has been devoted to RF-wave and plasma interaction studies, including MHD stabilization by using only the RF waves. In this paper, we briefly report the main results of the RF-heating research, MHD stability studies and discharge analysis during the past few years, as well as the future plans.
