This study examined the distinctive character and level of preference of SsookGae-Dduck which was produced with making 2, 3, 4, 5% of difference, adding 30% mugwort. In the sensory evaluation for SsookGae-Dduck, the bitterness, hardness and flavor were highly evaluated as the amount of mugwort powder was increasing. The sweetness and color showed the highest number in the adding group of 2% mugwort powder. In the being moistness degree, the 30% adding group of mugwort was the highest one, and 3% adding group in the mugwort powder. And the chewiness was highly marked in the adding group of 30% mugwort, and 5% adding group was highly marked in the mugwort powder. In the mechanical evaluation of SsookGae-Dduck, the hardness and adhesiveness were highly marked in the adding group of 5% mugwort powder, the adding group of 4% showed the highest number in the springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess and chewiness. Through these all studies, the mugwort powder should be used in the multi way of our food life and it was really necessary to be studies and to be taken interest in this area constantly.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the physical health status and health behavior practice of in-home elderly in order to provide basic data for effective nursing intervention to promote health and quality of life. Method : The subjects for this study were 299 elderly persons in the D city. Data were collected by interview with questionnaires. Result : The ratio of chronic disease was higher for the elderly who live alone than the elderly who live with family. Arthritis was the most common chronic disease of the elderly in spite of the fact that either they live alone or live with family. The physical health status score of the elderly who live with family was statistically higher than the elderly who live alone. The health behavior score of the elderly who live with family was statistically higher than the elderly who live alone. Conclusion : To promote health behavior of the elderly, it is necessary to develop nursing intervention that considers sociocultural tradition and demographic character.

Recruitment of Sprouty1 to Immune Synapse Regulates T Cell Receptor Signaling.

<P>TCR stimulation not only initiates positive signals for T cell activation, but also induces negative signals that down-regulate T cells. We previously reported that Sprouty1, a negative regulator of Ras-MAPK pathway of receptor tyrosine kinases, was induced by TCR signal and inhibited TCR signaling in CD4(+) T cell clones. In this study, we addressed the mechanism underlying Sprouty1 inhibition of T cells. When overexpressed in Jurkat T cells, Sprouty1 inhibited TCR signal-induced IL-2 transcription, and also AP-1, NFAT, and NF-kappaB activation, which suggests that Sprouty1 acts at proximal TCR signalosome. Accordingly, we found that Sprouty1 translocated to immune synapse upon TCR engagement in both Jurkat cells and activated primary T cells and interacted with various signaling molecules in the TCR signalosome, such as linker for activation of T cells (LAT), phospholipase C-gamma1 (PLC-gamma1), c-Cbl/Cbl-b, and HPK1. Sprouty1 inhibited LAT phosphorylation, leading to decreased MAPK activation and IL-2 production. Deletion of C-terminal 54 amino acids in Sprouty1 abolished its inhibitory effect and this deletion mutant was unable to translocate to immune synapse and interact with LAT. Overall, our data suggest that Sprouty1 induced by TCR signal negatively regulates further TCR signaling by interacting with proximal signaling molecules in immune synapse, providing a novel regulatory mechanism of T cells.</P>
Depression, anxiety, and stress in South Korea general population during the COVID-19 pandemic

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of poor mental health in the general Korean population during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. METHODS: This cross-sectional, population-based, online survey-based study was conducted from November 5 to 20, 2020 and included adults aged 20-49 years in Chungnam Province, Korea. A total of 549 adults were included. RESULTS: In total, 18.8% of the participants had symptoms of depression, 10.6% had symptoms of anxiety, and 5.1% had a high level of perceived stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Higher levels of stress (odds ratio [OR], 3.13; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.13 to 8.67), anxiety (OR, 2.33; 95% CI, 1.09 to 4.49), and depression (OR, 3.00; 95% CI, 1.64 to 5.50) were found among never married, widowed, divorced, and separated people than among married/cohabiting/partnered participants. Participants who felt increased stress at home during the COVID-19 outbreak reported more depression (OR, 2.45; 95% CI, 1.49 to 4.05) and anxiety (OR, 2.42; 95% CI, 1.31 to 4.50). Women had higher risks of anxiety (OR, 1.97; 95% CI, 1.09 to 3.58) and stress (OR, 6.40; 95% CI, 2.30 to 17.85) than men. Participants with the highest household income were less likely to report symptoms of stress than those with the lowest household income (OR, 0.24; 95% CI, 0.06 to 0.96). CONCLUSIONS: The participants in this study exhibited poor mental health index scores, suggesting that some people are at risk for mental health problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being married was independently and significantly associated with a lower likelihood of depression, anxiety, and stress.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Lactobacillus acidophilus PIN7 paraprobiotics supplementation against dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)–induced colitis in mice. Animals were divided into 5 groups. Each group was administered with PBS [control and DSS group], live PIN7 [LIVE group], heat-killed PIN7[HEAT group] or lysozyme-treated PIN7 [LYSOZYME group] for 10 days followed by 2.5% DSS for 5 days except for the control group. Body weight loss was attenuated in HEAT and LYSOZYME group. The HEAT group showed lower colonic tissue damage score compared to the DSS group. HEAT and LYSOZYME group showed higher colonic expressions of TLR6 and intestinal junction compared to the DSS group. LYSOZYME group showed lower colonic expressions of Th2 cell-associated GATA3 and IL-4, and higher expression of NLRP6 and IL-18 compared to the DSS group. HEAT group showed lower colonic p-IκBα expression compared to the DSS group, while COX-2 expression was suppressed by both paraprobiotic supplementation. Altered composition of the intestinal microbiota suggests L. acidophilus PIN7 paraprobiotics ameliorate intestinal inflammation associated with dysregulated immune responses.

This study assessed the effectiveness of three intervention strategies to improve the participation rate of gastric cancer screening among people who had never undergone such screening, and those who had been screened for the disease, but not recently. It was conducted in the Ilsandong-gu District of Goyang City, Korea. The population for the current study was restricted to male residents, aged 40-65 years, who received an invitation letter to undergo gastric cancer screening from the National Health Insurance (NHI) Corporation at the beginning of 2010. The subjects were divided into two categories according to their screening history: never-screened, and ever-screened. A total of 2,065 men were eligible: 803 never-screened and 1,262 ever-screened. In each screening category they were randomly assigned to one of three intervention groups: 1) tailored telephone counseling; 2) tailored postcard reminder after tailored telephone counseling;and 3) tailored telephone counseling after tailored postcard reminder. At 3 months post-intervention, never-screened men with any intervention were more likely to undergo gastric cancer screening (OR=2.75, 95% CI: 1.22-6.18) compared to those in the reference group (no intervention). However, there was no statistically significant intervention effect in ever-screened men (OR=1.21, 95% CI: 0.65-2.27). Examination of the intervention effects by intervention group among never-screened men showed that those in the postcard reminder after telephone counseling group to be statistically significantly more likely to undergo gastric cancer screening (OR=4.49, 95% CI: 1.79-11.29) than the reference group (no intervention). Our results highlight that use of tailored postcard reminders after tailored telephone counseling is an effective method to increase participation in gastric cancer screening among men who had never been screened.
Chemically fluorinated graphene oxide for room temperature ammonia detection at ppb levels

<▼1><P>Detection of ppb level ammonia at room temperature is demonstrated using chemically fluorinated graphene oxide (CFGO). Fluorine adatom extremely enhances ammonia sensing capabilities through the changes of the charge distributions on adjacent functional groups, resulting in the variation in gas adsorption energies.</P></▼1><▼2><P>Chemoresistive gas sensors based on two-dimensional (2D) materials including graphene-based materials have attracted significant research interest owing to their potential use in next-generation technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT). The functionalization of 2D materials is considered as a key strategy to achieve superior gas sensing properties such as high selectivity, high sensitivity, and reversible response and recovery, because it can modulate the chemical and electrical properties of 2D materials for more efficient gas sensing. Herein, we present a facile solution process and the room temperature gas sensing properties of chemically fluorinated graphene oxide (CFGO). The CFGO sensors exhibit improved sensitivity, selectivity, and reversibility upon exposure to NH3 with a significantly low theoretical detection limit of ∼6 ppb at room temperature in comparison to NO2 sensing properties. The effect of fluorine doping on the sensing mechanism is examined by first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. The calculations reveal that the fluorine dopant changes the charge distribution on the oxygen containing functional groups in graphene oxide, resulting in the preferred selective adsorption and desorption of NH3 molecules. We believe that the remarkable NH3 sensing properties of CFGO and investigation by first-principles calculations would enlarge the possibility of functionalized 2D materials for practical gas sensing applications such as the IoT.</P></▼2>
