Study on Rotating Compression Forming of Double-layer Clad Ring Considering Coulomb Friction

This study uses two FEM simulations based on deform 3D and superform commercial software assuming coulomb friction to explore the plastic behavior in rotating compression forming of double-layer bounded clad ring. The rotating compression forming can reduce the compressive force and make the deformation uniform. Effects of the frictional coefficient, shear yield stress ratio, rotating angular velocity, frictional coefficient ratio, clad ring height ratio etc on compression characteristics including the effective stress, the effective strain, the velocity field, the shear strain, the compressive force etc. are investigated effectively. Moreover, the realistic rotating compression experiments of clad ring have been carried out to verify the acceptance of both FEM simulation models.
Astrocyte lesions in cerebral cortex and cerebellum of dogs with congenital ortosystemic shunting

Background: Congenital portosystemic shunt (cPSS) is one of the most common congenital disorders diagnosed in dogs. Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a frequent complication in dogs with a cPSS and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Despite HE been a major cause of morbidity in dogs with a cPSS, little is known about the cellular changes that occur in the central nervous system of dogs with a cPSS. Objectives: The objective of this study was to characterise the histological changes in the cerebral cortex and cerebellum of dogs with cPSS with particular emphasis on astrocyte morphology. Methods: Eight dogs with a confirmed cPSS were included in the study. Results: Six dogs had substantial numbers of Alzheimer type II astrocytes and all cases had increased immunoreactivity for glial fibrillary acidic protein in the cerebral cortex, even if there were minimal other morphological changes. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that dogs with a cPSS have marked cellular changes in the cerebral cortex and cerebellum. The cellular changes that occur in the cerebral cortex and cerebellum of dogs with spontaneously arising HE are similar to changes which occur in humans with HE, further validating dogs with a cPSS as a good model for human HE.

Newcastle disease (ND), infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) and avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) can be similar making it critical to quickly differentiate them. Herein, we adapted pre-existing molecular-based diagnostic assays for NDV and ILTV, and developed new assays for aMPV A and B, for use under synchronized thermocycling conditions. All assays performed equivalently with linearity over a 5 log10 dynamic range, a reproducible (R2 > 0.99) limit of detection of ≥ 10 target copies, and amplification efficiencies between 86.8%–98.2%. Using biological specimens for NDV and ILTV showed 100% specificity. Identical amplification conditions will simplify procedures for detection in diagnostic laboratories.
Chinese Fans’ Engagement with Football: Transnationalism, Authenticity and Identity

Football in China is undergoing an unprecedented expansion, the result of targeted industrial policy, private sector investment, and the increased popularity of the world’s most popular game in the world’s most populous nation. Yet, as China’s own football infrastructure matures and foreign clubs seek to establish new fanbases there, little is known about Chinese football fans themselves, the ways in which they express their fandom, or the methods by which they consume football. This study aims to take a first step in identifying and exploring football fandom in the People’s Republic of China, with a view to critically understanding the context out of which it has emerged, and its likely trajectory of development in the short-to-medium term. Adopting an inductive approach to survey research to explore the attitudes, behaviours and activities of Chinese football fans, an online survey resulting in 710 usable responses was conducted on a Chinese online survey platform Wenjuanxing (问卷星) for three weeks in March 2018. Our research identifies similarities with fandom found elsewhere in the world, yet with key differences generally characteristic of Chinese football fans resulting from the geography, distance and league structures of China’s domestic football infrastructure. A tendency to support more than one club, often one domestic and one foreign club, is also noted, with distinct methods of consumption which eschew traditional forms such as match attendance.
FEM ANALYSIS AND EXPERIMENT VALIDATION ON MULTI-PASS FORGING OF TORX ROUND FLANGE BOLT

This study aims at exploring the multi-pass forging of Torx Round Flange Bolt (automotive fastener) to simulate each pass forging process using FEM simulation. The software is used to carry out the simulation analysis. Constant shear friction is always assumed at the interface between die and workpiece to explore the effective stress, the effective strain, the velocity filed, and the forging force for each pass. Through the pass schedule plan and design based on FEM analysis, the four-pass forging process is designed to form the Torx Round Flange Bolt compared the five-pass forging. It is noted that the total forging force is 1204kN, so the 200 tons machinery in the factory can be chosen to manufacture this automotive fastener. The die stress analysis for each pass has been explored to realize whether the dies are damaged or not. The forming feasibility of Torx Round Flange Bolt can be performed by FEM simulation. All dies designs and forming results can be proposed to the dies manufacture so as to perform the realistic experiments. Comparisons between FEM and experiment for final product dimensions can be carried out. The maximum dimension error is just around 3.32% to show a good agreement with the experiment. The research results can provide to the industries as the references of establishment of multi-pass forging technology.

The effects of the water extracts of Millettia reticulata Benth (WEMRB) and its active compound (protocatechuic acid [PCA]) on acute hepatic injury and inflammation in $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats were investigated. Sprague-Dawley rats were orally treated with WEMRB or PCA for 28 consecutive days, and then the rats were given an intraperitoneal injection with $CCl_4$. Pretreatment with WEMRB or PCA significantly lowered the $CCl_4$-induced serum levels of hepatic enzyme markers (aspartate and alanine aminotransferases). Liver histopathology showed that WEMRB reduced the incidence of cytoplasmic vacuolization and necrosis induced by $CCl_4$ in rats. Pretreatment with WEMRB also showed anti-inflammation on the expression of cyclooxygenase-2, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and myeloperoxidase, as well as nitrite and nitrate levels in the $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats. The results suggest that oral administration of WEMRB decreases the hepatotoxic effects by increasing glutathione-dependent antioxidant enzyme activity, thereby reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in $CCl_4$-induced Sprague-Dawley rats.
