A recent study on Neuroptera brought us an attention to a newly found group, Coniopterygidae, dustywings. As we reported for the first time this year, this family has not been taxonomically reported in South Korea while it has been reported in North Korea before. In fact, this is known to be found in Japan and China, which means this probably have been around us for a long time. However, we found there was one species of which the name was once mentioned in a paper in 1978. It was reported by Kim, H.S. et al. in 1978 in a study of citrus red mite and its natural enemies (Kim et al., 1978). Although the spelling of the species was wrong even as a synonym, the species was found to be a natural enemy of citrus red mite, Panonychus citri in Jeju-do. We here report this taxonomically undescribed species for the first time in South Korea. The species is superficially similar to white flies but, unlike white flies, it is on our side as a natural enemy.

With the help of KLTER/ME and KLPS in Woraksan, we have surveyed monthly diversity and seasonal prevalence of Macrolepidoptera in Wol-ak-san [Mt.], Jecheon for the period of five months from May to September since 2005. In 2007, to reduce variation, we chose two monitoring points from each of three representative vegetations in the area: Quercus mongolica-, Quercus variabilis- and Pinus densiflora-formations, abbreviated as QM, QV and PD, respectively, and collected exclusively larger moths with bucket-type of light traps for quantified survey. As a result, 1) QM and QV showed the much higher species diversity than PD; 2) in number of individuals collected, QM was the highest, almost twice that of QV, and nearly 8 times that of PD; 3) in Noctuidae and Geometridae collected, QM was the highest, while in Pyralidae and Arctiidae collected, QV was the highest; 4) June was the highest in species diversity, then July was a deep drop, probably due to a storm occurred in July; 5) the number of individuals collected may not be a good indicator as one species may be dominant too much in number of individuals: e.g., Idaea biselata collected in QM in June was over 200, changing the average number of individuals per species to 6.92, which more than twice that of all other sites per month.

Organic farming materials are used to preserve the environment and grow agricultural products organically. In Korea, organic synthetic pesticides must not be detected in organic farming materials for soil amendments and biopesticides. So, proper management of the organic farming materials must be preceded. It is necessary to establish an analytical method to accurately and reliably analyze residual pesticides in organic farming materials with various properties such as extracts, oil, and so on. In this study, a QuEChERS method for simultaneous determination of 259 pesticide residues organic farming materials was validated. Organic farming material samples were extracted with acetonitrile and QuEChERS EN buffer.. And then targeted pesticides were purified with the dispersive solid phase extraction(d-SPE, PSA) and detected by gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). To evaluate performance of the method, validation experiments were carried out on five types of organic farming material at three spiking levels (0.05, 0.25, 0.5 mg kg<sup>-1</sup>). The recoveries of the organic farming materials ranged between 70 and 120.0% with associated relative standard deviations (RSD) less than 22% for most pesticides. The limit of quantification (LOQ) of methods were below 0.05 mg/kg<sup>-1</sup>, and the coefficient of determination (R<sup>2</sup>) of matrix-matched standards were > 0.98. In order for the developed method to be certified as an analytical method determined by the head of NAQs, cross-validation of the three labs is in progress.
이부프로펜과 셀룰로오스아세테이트의 고체분산체 제조방법에 따른 물리화학적 성질 및 용출 특성

고체분산체는 난용성약물의 용해도를 향상시키는 기술로 용출특성은 고분자의 성질, 고분자의 함량 및 물리화학적 성질에 의하여 변화한다. 본 연구에서는 이부프로펜과 셀룰로오스 아세테이트를 사용하여 분무건조와 로터리 증발법을 사용하여 고체분산체를 제조하였다. 제조한 고체분산체의 표면성질을 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 사용하여 분석하였으며, X선 회절기(X-RD)와 시차주사열량계(DSC)를 사용하여 결정성 변화를 관찰하였다. 고체분산체의 화학적 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 적외선 분광기(FTIR) 분석을 하였으며, 수분 친화도를 측정하기 위하여 수분접촉각 측정을 하였다. 용출 특성은 인공장액(pH 6.8) 및 인공위액(pH 1.2)에서 관찰하였다. 실험결과 약물의 결정성은 고분자의 비율이 증가하면 결정성이 감소하였으며, 화학적 변화는 없었다. 수분 친화도는 고분자비율과 비례하였으며, 분무건조로 제조된 고체분산체의 경우가 조금 높은 수분 친화도를 가졌다. 용출실험 결과 인공위액에서는 고분자의 비율이 높아질수록 용출률이 증가하였으며, 인공장액에서의 용출속도는 고분자의 비율과 반비례하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. Solid dispersion is used to improve the solubility of water-insoluble drug. Release properties depend on the characteristics of polymer and the physicochemical properties of solid dispersion. In this study the solid dispersions of ibuprofen and cellulose acetate were prepared using spray-drying and rotary evaporation. The physicochemical properties of the solid dispersions were analyzed by SEM, XRD, DSC, and FTIR. The hydrophilicity of polymer was analyzed by measuring the contact angle of water. The results of DSC and XRD analysis demonstrated that the crystallinity of ibuprofen was changed by solid dispersion preparation. The results of contact angle showed that hydrophilicity was proportional to polymer content. Release profile showed that for solid dispersion, the release rate of ibuprofen decreased as polymer content increased in intestinal juice(pH 6.8). The dissolution rate of ibuprofen was improved with increasing polymer content in gastric juice(pH 1.2).
A Variable Step-Size Diffusion LMS Algorithm for Distributed Estimation

<P>We propose a new variable step-size diffusion least mean square algorithm for distributed estimation that adaptively adjusts the step-size in every iteration. For a network application, the proposed method determines a suboptimal step-size at each node to minimize the mean square deviation for the intermediate estimate. The algorithm thus adapts the different node environments and profiles across the networks, and requires relatively less user interaction than existing algorithms. In experiments, the algorithm achieves both fast convergence speed and low misadjustment by remarkable improvement in an adaptation stage. We analyze the mean square performance of the proposed algorithm. Also, the proposed algorithm works well even in non-stationary environments.</P>

<P>Oleosins are the most abundant proteins in the monolipid layer surrounding neutral storage lipids that form oil bodies in plants. Several lines of evidence indicate that they are physiologically important for the maintenance of oil body structure and for mobilization of the lipids stored inside. Rice has six oleosin genes in its genome, the expression of all of which was found to be responsive to abscisic acid (ABA) in our examination of mature embryo and aleurone tissues. The 5'-flanking region of OsOle5 was initially characterized for its responsiveness to ABA through a transient expression assay system using the protoplasts from suspension-cultured rice cells. A series of successive deletions and site-directed mutations identified five regions critical for the hormonal induction of its promoter activity. A search for cis-acting elements in these regions deposited in a public database revealed that they contain various promoter elements previously reported to be involved in the ABA response of various genes. A gain-of-function experiment indicated that multiple copies of all five regions were sufficient to provide the minimal promoter with a distinct ABA responsiveness. Comparative sequence analysis of the short, but still ABA-responsive, promoters of OsOle genes revealed no common modular architecture shared by them, indicating that various distinct promoter elements and independent trans-acting factors are involved in the ABA responsiveness of rice oleosin multigenes.</P>

Incisional metastases following surgery for cervical cancer are extremely rare. We report a case of a recurrence which occurred at a incisional site following radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy for squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. The recurrence was found at the incisional site just below umbilicus that was not included for post-operative adjuvant radiotherapy. We performed wide local excision and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy for 5 weeks. She has been under follow up until now, and there is no evidence of recurrence.
