<P>This study was performed to make comparative analysis of the clinical findings between the two different types of the implant-assisted removable partial dentures: removable partial dentures using implant surveyed bridge as an abutment (ISBRPD) and overdenture type of removable partial denture using implant attachment (IARPD). Implant cumulative survival rate, marginal bone resorption, probing depth, peri-implant inflammation, bleeding, plaque, calculus, and complications were evaluated on 24 patients who were treated with implants in conjunction with removable partial denture and have used them for at least 1 year (ISCRPD: <I>n</I> = 12; IARPD: <I>n</I> = 12). There was no failed implant and all implants were functioning without clinical mobility. Marginal bone loss of ISCRPD (1.44 ± 0.57 mm) was significantly lower than that of IARPD (<I>p</I> < 0.05). There was no significant difference in probing depth, peri-implant inflammation, bleeding, and plaque between the two groups (<I>p</I> > 0.05), while the calculus was significantly more observed in ISCRPD group than in IARPD group (<I>p</I> < 0.05). The retention loss of IARPD was the most common complication. Within the limits of the present study, it was found that well-planned ISBRPD was clinically appropriate. Longitudinal and systematic clinical studies are necessary to confirm these results.</P>

PURPOSE. This study aims to clinically compare the fitness and trueness of zirconia crowns fabricated by different combinations of open CAD-CAM systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Total of 40 patients were enrolled in this study, and 9 different zirconia crowns were prepared per patient. Each crown was made through the cross-application of 3 different design software (EZIS VR, 3Shape Dental System, Exocad) with 3 different processing devices (Aegis HM, Trione Z, Motion 2). The marginal gap, absolute marginal discrepancy, internal gap(axial, line angle, occlusal) by a silicone replica technique were measured to compare the fit of the crown. The scanned inner and outer surfaces of the crowns were compared to CAD data using 3D metrology software to evaluate trueness. RESULTS. There were significant differences in the marginal gap, absolute marginal discrepancy, axial and line angle internal gap among the groups (P < .05) in the comparison of fit. There was no statistically significant difference among the groups in terms of occlusal internal gap. The trueness ranged from 36.19 to 43.78 μm but there was no statistically significant difference within the groups (P > .05). CONCLUSION. All 9 groups showed clinically acceptable level of marginal gaps ranging from 74.26 to 112.20 μm in terms of fit comparison. In the comparison of trueness, no significant difference within each group was spotted. Within the limitation of this study, open CAD-CAM systems used in this study can be assembled properly to fabricate zirconia crown.

<P>This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of 3D printed polycaprolactone (PCL)/<I>β</I>-tricalcium phosphate (<I>β</I>-TCP) scaffold containing bone demineralized and decellularized extracellular matrix (bdECM) and human recombinant bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) on bone regeneration. Scaffolds were divided into PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP, PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP/bdECM, and PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP/bdECM/BMP groups. In vitro release kinetics of rhBMP-2 were determined with respect to cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation. These three reconstructive materials were implanted into 8 mm diameter calvarial bone defect in male Sprague-Dawley rats. Animals were sacrificed four weeks after implantation for micro-CT, histologic, and histomorphometric analyses. The findings obtained were used to calculate new bone volumes (mm<SUP>3</SUP>) and new bone areas (%). Excellent cell bioactivity was observed in the PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP/bdECM and PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP/bdECM/BMP groups, and new bone volume and area were significantly higher in the PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP/bdECM/BMP group than in the other groups (<I>p</I> < .05). Within the limitations of this study, bdECM printed PCL/<I>β</I>-TCP scaffolds can reproduce microenvironment for cells and promote adhering and proliferating the cells onto scaffolds. Furthermore, in the rat calvarial defect model, the scaffold which printed rhBMP-2 loaded bdECM stably carries rhBMP-2 and enhances bone regeneration confirming the possibility of bdECM as rhBMP-2 carrier.</P>

The purpose of this study was to compare the changes of retentive force in different stud attachment systems for implant retained overdenture. Two commercially available attachments with different retentive forces were investigated: Kerator (pink, blue, red) and O-ring (orange, red). Two implant fixtures were vertically embedded in base mountings. Five pairs of each attachment were evaluated. A universal testing machine was used to evaluate the retentive force of two attachments during wear simulation. Surface characteristics of each attachment system were evaluated with scanning electron microscopy. Five pairs of each attachment were evaluated. Kerator pink showed the highest initial retention. After 2,500 cycles of wear-simulation, Kerator pink noted the largest decrease in retention. According to results of surface analysis, Worn surfaces were obtained in matrices and patrices. Heavy wears were observed in matrices. After 2 year-wear simulation, most attachments exhibited retention loss. Attachments using different kind of material exhibited dissimilar surface alterations.

This clinical study was conducted to evaluate the clinical effects of a concave neck of external connection type implant fixture designed for platform switching on the peri-implant tissue responses. Two types of implants with different neck designs were implanted in 20 patients. For the experimental group, the bioseal(BS) implant fixtures with ‘s’ shaped concave profile on the neck were used, and non-bioseal(NBS) implant fixtures with a straight profile on the neck were used as control(Total of 40 implants, NBS: n = 19, BS: n=21). During the one-year period after implant placement, implant survival rate, marginal bone resorption, bleeding, plaque, and complications were evaluated. The survival rate of NBS and BS group was 94.74% and 90.48%, respectively. There was no significant difference on marginal bone resorption, bleeding and plaque between the two groups (P>.05). Within the limits of the present study, implants with a concave neck design showed similar clinical results to implants with a straight neck design on the peri-implant tissue responses. Longitudinal clinical studies are necessary to confirm more effective clinical results.

In the case of failed fixed implant prosthesis accompanied by abutment screw fracture, fractured screw fragment must be removed to use the existing implant fixtures. A 61-year-old male patient, who had a failed maxillary fixed implant prosthesis accompanied by three abutment screw fracture, hoped to reconstruct the maxillary implant prosthesis, while maintaining the existing implant fixtures. To use the existing implant fixtures, fractured screw fragments were removed. A maxillary implant overdenture using available existing implants was planned. Bar-attachment with Locator was used for implant splinting, denture stability, and retention. Final impression was taken after treatment of peri-implantitis. Jaw relation registration was taken to evaluate available interarch space for bar-attachment. After fabricating bar-attachment, centric relation was taken. Implant overdenture using bar-attachment with Locator was delivered after wax-denture evaluation. This case report showed that a satisfactory clinical result was achieved by implant overdenture using existing implant fixtures in a maxillary edentulous patient.

Seaweed fulvescens (Capsosiphon fulvescens) is a High-Value-Added food that is highly likely to develop into various forms, such as drying and simple foods. However, the damage to fish farms caused by migratory birds that winter has increased, making it difficult to produce and supply stable. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, this study is to find the most effective sound source and distance to combat migratory birds by connecting sound reproducing device to stationary directional speaker and mobile directional speaker. The elimination effect of the difference in the output size of the two speakers in the same location is compared, analyzed, and a maritime experiment is conducted to suggest the most effective method for eradicating migratory birds.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to relapse within six months of cessation of smoking in out-of-school adolescents. Methods: The study included 45 adolescents who applied to the outreaching smoking cessation service provided by Daejeon Tobacco Control Center between July 2015 and March 2017 and maintained the abstinence for four weeks since registering for the service. The data on the participants were collected from the Integrated Information System for Smoking Cessation Services and analyzed using The Kaplan-Meier analysis and the Cox proportional hazard model. Results: Our results indicated that the rate of smoking relapse within six months was 75.6%. The variables related to this relapse were attempts to quit smoking in last one year and frequency of counseling. Adolescents who had previously tried to quit smoking were more likely to relapse than those who had never tried quitting (hazard ratio [HR]=4.24; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.38-13.02). Additionally, if the number of counseling sessions to quit smoking was nine or more, the likelihood of relapse was reduced as compared to when the sessions were five or less. (HR=0.19; 95% CI=0.06-0.60 for ≥9 vs. ≤5 sessions). Conclusion: Our results indicate that it is necessary to offer continued and consistent counseling, focusing on their confidence in quitting, for out-of-school adolescents to discourage a relapse of smoking.

This survey was designed to measure the environmental factors in the places of bussiness to be exposed in danger especially environmental condition for the printing office, the inspection section, the second cashier and the bullion section in a certain bank in Seoul. The results obtained were as followings. 1. The amount of dust in the pulverizing room was 51mg per cubic meter. This result was three times in comparison with the standard of safety, 15mg per cubic meter. 2. The intensity of noise in the pulverizing room and at the time when the melting material was driven, was "95 to 98 phon at the position of workers in each work-shop. 3. The amount of carbon monoxide when the melting material was driven, was 150 ppm. This amount was over the allowable concentration but it was not to be considered the danger of poison since the working time was limited within two hours. 4. The degrees of illumination in the room of money distribution and the whole printing work-shop were below the normal standard, and in the room of tipe-setting there was some fear of taking place short-sightness and eyes fatigue. 5. The amount of falling bacteria in the inspection section and the second cashier was 38 colonies excessing the half of the allowable concentration.
