In this paper, a designing case of the Formula-style vehicle for KSAE student Formula competition is introduced. The 250cc engine vehicle is built for the competition and the designing process is composed of five modules. During the designing project, the fundamental performance of the modules was evaluated using FEM. For example, the frame design was focused on weight reduction and it was built by CATIA V5, and FEM method was used to analyze the designed frame on static and dynamic characteristics. In case of optimized the cowl shape, FLUENT was used to get the drag and lift coefficient from the cowl shape. In detail, to optimize the cowl shape, aerodynamic modeling was carried out and the final shape was determined. As a result, the 250cc engine vehicle for KSAE student Formula competition was built and the fundamental performance was investigated.

<P>A possible application of acupuncture in alleviating depression-like behavioral changes and regulating serotonin signaling in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of maternally-separated rat pups was investigated in this study. On postnatal day 15, rat pups were maternally-separated and received acupuncture stimulation at acupoint HT7 or ST36 once a day for 7 days. On postnatal day 21, the tail suspension test was performed and the PFC was harvested. Tissue levels of serotonin (5-HT) and 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid (5-HIAA) were then measured by high-performance liquid chromatography and expression of serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) were assessed by western blotting. Levels of 5-HT and 5-HIAA were not significantly changed, but the 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio was significantly increased by maternal separation. The immobility time of maternally-separated rat pups was increased, and increased 5-HTT expression and reduced BDNF level were observed in the PFC. But acupuncture stimulation at HT7 alleviated the behavioral change and regulated the changes of 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio, 5-HTT, and BDNF. In conclusion, acupuncture stimulation at HT7 can relieve maternal separation-induced changes, and we propose that regulation of the 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio and of 5-HTT expression by acupuncture stimulation are important acupuncture-induced benefits in this animal model of depression.</P>
Nitrous Oxide Reduction by an Obligate Aerobic Bacterium, <i>Gemmatimonas aurantiaca</i> Strain T-27

<P>IMPORTANCE Emission of N2O, a potent greenhouse gas and ozone depletion agent, from the soil environment is largely determined by microbial sources and sinks. N2O reduction by organisms with N2O reductases (NosZ) is the only known biological sink of N2O at environmentally relevant concentrations (up to similar to 1,000 parts per million by volume [ppmv]). Although a large fraction of nosZ genes recovered from soil is affiliated with nosZ found in the genomes of the obligate aerobic phylum Gemmatimonadetes, N2O reduction has not yet been confirmed in any of these organisms. This study demonstrates that N2O is reduced by an obligate aerobic bacterium, Gemmatimonas aurantiaca strain T-27, and suggests a novel regulation mechanism for N2O reduction in this organism, which may also be applicable to other obligate aerobic organisms possessing nosZ genes. We expect that these findings will significantly advance the understanding of N2O dynamics in environments with frequent transitions between oxic and anoxic conditions.</P>
The role of immunomodulatory metabolites in shaping the inflammatory response of macrophages

Macrophage activation has long been implicated in a myriad of human pathophysiology, particularly in the context of the dysregulated capacities of an unleashing intracellular or/and extracellular inflammatory response. A growing number of studies have functionally coupled the macrophages’ inflammatory capacities with dynamic metabolic reprogramming which occurs during activation, albeit the results have been mostly interpreted through classic metabolism point of view; macrophages take advantage of the rewired metabolism as a source of energy and for biosynthetic precursors. However, a specific subset of metabolic products, namely immune-modulatory metabolites, has recently emerged as significant regulatory signals which control inflammatory responses in macrophages and the relevant extracellular milieu. In this review, we introduce recently highlighted immuno-modulatory metabolites, with the aim of understanding their physiological and pathological relevance in the macrophage inflammatory response. Preparation and Characterization of Garlic Fermented by Lactic Acid Bacteria

This study aimed to investigate physicochemical characteristics and physiological activities of garlic fermented by lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Among the eight types of LAB strains isolated from fermented foods, four types of LAB (Lactobacillus plantarum KCTC3108, Lactobacillus plantarum B8, Lactobacillus plantarum BR4 and Leuconostoc mesenteroides SY3) with excellent fermentability (pH and total acidity) were selected. Physiological activity was measured during 4 days of fermentation. After fermentation, the S-allyl-L-cysteine contents of L. plantarum KCTC3108, L. plantarum B8, L. plantarum BR4 and Leu. mesenteroides SY3 increased by 2.34, 2.30, 1.96 and 2.62 times, respectively, and the total thiosulfinate content by 5.55, 6.06, 14.41, and 7.56 times, respectively, compared to those at the beginning of fermentation. The ferric reducing antioxidant power and total flavonoid content were the highest in L. plantarum BR4 at 23.64 mg/mL and 144.65 μg/mL, respectively. In the sensory evaluation, L. plantarum BR4 was the best in overall acceptability. From these results, we selected L. plantarum BR4 as the most suitable strain for fermentation of garlic.
검사 자동 구성을 위한 선형계획법과 가중편차법의 효율성 비교

본 연구는 검사 자동 구성(ATA)에 적용되고 있는 대표적인 알고리듬인 선형계획법(LP)과 가중편차법(WDM)의 알고리듬에 대한 이론적인 배경을 개관하고 상용 프로그램을 이용하여 두 알고리듬의 효율성을 비교하였다. 가상 및 실제 문제은행을 대상으로 8개 검사형을 자동 구성하였으며 목적함수를 설정하는데 있어서 b-모수 평균을 사용하는 방법과 능력수준별 검사정보를 사용하는 방법을 사용하였다. 분석 결과에 의하면, 전반적으로 LP가 WDM보다 우수한 성능을 보였고, LP로 ATA를 실시할 경우 어떤 목적함수를 사용하느냐에 따라 검사의 측정학적인 속성이 다르게 구성되는 것으로 나타났다. 검사의 측정학적인 동형성이 자동 구성의 주된 목적이라면 동형성과 관련된 가용한 측정학적 정보를 최대한 반영하여 목적함수를 설정해야 한다는 사실도 확인되었다. 자동 구성에 소요되는 시간의 경우 두 알고리듬 간에 큰 차이는 없었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구에 대해 논의하였다. This study investigated the comparative efficiencies of Linear Programming (LP) and Weighted Deviation Method (WDM) algorithms applied to the Automated Test Assembly (ATA). By using commercial softwares, eight test forms were automatically constructed in simulated and real item bank conditions while applying two objective functions; the mean of b-parameters and the test informations at five ability levels. The results generally indicate that LP outperformed WDM. When LP was applied, it was confirmed that psychometric properties of multiple test forms differed depending on which objective function was used. It was also found that the objective function should, as much as possible, include the psychometric informations related to test parallelism, if the main purpose of the ATA is to create parallel test forms. Time consumptions for the ATA between LP and WDM were similar. Limitations of this study and future research topics were discussed, finally.
