        Heme oxygenase-1 induced by desoxo-narchinol-A attenuated the severity of acute pancreatitis via blockade of neutrophil infiltration

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) has an anti-inflammatory action in acute pancreatitis (AP). However, its mechanism of action and natural compounds/drugs to induce HO-1 in pancreas are not well understood. In this study, we investigated the regulatory mechanisms of HO-1 during AP using desoxo-narchinol-A (DN), the natural compound inducing HO-1 in the pancreas. Female C57/BL6 Mice were intraperitoneally injected with supramaximal concentrations of cerulein (50 μg/kg) hourly for 6 h to induce AP. DMSO or DN was administered intraperitoneally, then mice were sacrificed 6 h after the final cerulein injection. Administration of DN increased pancreatic HO-1 expression through activation of activating protein-1, mediated by mitogen-activated protein kinases. Furthermore, DN treatment reduced the pancreatic weight-to-body weight ratio as well as production of digestive enzymes and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Inhibition of HO-1 by tin protoporphyrin IX abolished the protective effects of DN on pancreatic damage. Additionally, DN treatment inhibited neutrophil infiltration into the pancreas via regulation of chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 2 (CXCL2) by HO-1.       • Induction of heme oxygenase-1 protects against podocyte apoptosis under diabetic conditions

        Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is an anti-oxidant enzyme normally upregulated in response to oxidant injury. Here we determined the role of HO-1 in podocyte apoptosis in glomeruli of streptozotocin-treated rats and in immortalized mouse podocytes cultured in media containing normal or high glucose. HO-1 expression, its activity, the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 protein, and active caspase-3 fragments were all significantly higher in isolated glomeruli of diabetic rats and in high glucose–treated podocytes. These increases were inhibited by zinc protoporphyrin treatment of the rats or by HO-1 siRNA treatment of the podocytes in culture. The number of apoptotic cells was also significantly increased in the glomeruli of diabetic rats and in high glucose–treated podocytes. Inhibition of HO-1 accentuated the increase in apoptotic cells both in vivo and in vitro. Our findings suggest that HO-1 expression protects against podocyte apoptosis under diabetic conditions.

        혈관질환 정보관리 시스템

        As medical technology progresses rapidly, there is a rise in the average age along with the Korean dietary lifestyle becoming more westernized, which leads to an increase in the number of vascular disease patients in Korea. Thus, we need to manage the medical information of a disease systematically in order to diagnose and treat constructively. However, since there has been no standardized method of man agement to date, a great deal of information could not be properly utilized nor studied. Therefore, the departments of Cardiology, Radiology and Neurology of Samsung Seoul Hospital recently got together to develop an information management system called the Vascular Data System. This program was developed to be run on win98 O/S, upper Pentium Ⅲ, and upper 128 MB Memory, and its source code is Dephi 4.0. It was configured for the user to set the configurations as well as do a variety of search and analysis. If this program were to be updated continuously, it may be used extensively as well as in various parts of clinical research activities.

      • 만성 견비통에 대한 동씨침 치료의 무작위 대조군의 임상 연구

        Objectives : To observe the effect of acupuncture treatment in chronic shoulder pain patients. Methods : 36 voluntary patients were randomly assigned to an acupuncture treatment group(E GrouP, n=18) and a control group(C GrouP, n=18). The E Group patients received acupuncture treatment on LI_(15), TE_(14), GB_(21) and Master Dong's acupuncture points, Shin-gwan and Gyun-joong, twice a week for four weeks. The C Group patients received no treatment. All patients in both groups were instructed to practise self exercise in their daily lives. Evaluations were made at baseline and after four weeks of study. The Constant Shoulder Assessment(CSA), Shoulder Pain and Disability Index(SPADI) and the patient's subjective pain was measured by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). The obtained data was analyzed. Results '. The E Group showed significant(p<0.05) improvement in CSA, SPADI and VAS after four weeks of treatment. The C Group showed significant(p<0.05) improvement in CSA, but the change of SPADI and VAS was insignificant(P>0.05). CSA and SPADI of E Group significantly(p<0.05) improved compared to the C GrouP, but the difference of VAS change in the two groups was insignificant(p>0.05). Conclusions : Four weeks of acupuncture treatment significantly improved CSA, SPADI and VAS. The improvement of CSA and SPADI was significant(p<0.05) compared to untreated patients.

        지역복지 정보네트워크의 구축에 관한 연구

        이 논문에서는 정보기술이 지역복지 전달체계의 개편에 기여할 수 있다는 인식을 바탕으로 지역복지 정보네트워크를 구축하기 위한 모델과 지역복지 정보네트워크를 위한 컨텐츠 구성 방안 등에 대하여 논의하고 있다. 정보의 공유와 상호협력 관계를 충실하게 구혈할 수 있는 정보네트워크 구축방식은 지역복지 전달과정에 관련된 공급자, 수혜자, 후원자, 그리고 정부를 포함한 모든 당사자들을 상호 연결하는 e-허브 모델이 바람직하다. 지역복지 네트워크 허브는 지역복지 전달과정에서 각 주체들이 정보네트워크에 올린 원시정보를 분류?축적?갱신함으로써 사회복지서비스의 수급을 연결시키는 역할을 담당하기 때문에 지방자치단체가 운영의 책임을 져야 한다. 지역복지 정보네트워크는 지역복지 전달과정에서 5C 활동-컨텐츠(Contents), 의사소통(Communication), 커뮤너티(Community), 협업(Collaboration), 기여(Contribution) -을 촉진할 것이다. 이중에서 특히 컨텐츠의 수준은 지역복지 정보네트워크가 효과적으로 운영되기 위한 관건이 된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 공급자, 수혜자, 후원자, 그리고 정부가 지역복지 정보네트워크의 운영을 위하여 제공해야 할 컨텐츠를 구체적으로 예시하고 있다. 지역복지 정보네트워크는 5C 활동을 통하여 지역복지 전달과정에서 관련 당사자들 간의 상호, 협력적 관계를 지속시킴으로써 지역복지 전달체계의 효율성, 적절성, 통합성, 전문성, 접근성을 제고하는 데 기여할 것이다.

Following conclusion was drawn through this study: 1.School principals are consider the education is an essential measure of the national and social development also recognize the elementary education plays a major part to socialize the children. 2.School principals consider the children as a leaders of the country and society in the future and intending to raise moral and independent human through education. 3.Consider teachers as a main body of education also the final determinant of education, and so desire an image of teacher as a human being rather than the professional teacher. 4.School principals have a view of the future society as a highly industrialized society, internationally competitive society, rapidly changing scientific and highly civilized society. 5.Recognize educational goal as the individually septended ability that contribute to the development of nation and people was the most important. 6.As a teaching-learning measure, the research activities of children and principally self-control were emphasized. 7.School principle consider the harmony among men to lead their affiliated personel is the most important matter. 8.The educational views of the consolidated school principals develop to tendency is essential principle, practical value principle, existentialism and so they have social education view, Confucian educational view and individual education view according to the realitic perception. On the basis of the aforementioned conclusion, the following programs have been suggested for the accomplishment of school principal's educational management and the improvement of elementary education: 1.Innovate the educational management views and strengthen the research study for the modern management techniques thereby arranging self and realistic teachers' views, then have to innovate the given condition of services which is able to induce spontaneous motives as well as displaying democratic leaderships. 2.Specifying the goals of school educational and promote actualism, emphasize participation of the entire personnel in order to established the school education programs. 3.For the management of education course, it is necessary to have diversity to establish human image to form through educational goal and education upon strengthening of the self-control and localized natures.

      • 질량분석법에 의한 항암제 BLM 금속착물의 정량제목

        BLM혼합물인 Bleocin으로부터 BLM-A2를 고순도로 대량 분리, 정제할 수 있는HPLC조건을 확립하였다. 질량분석법을 이용한 다양한 금속의 BLM 착물의 합성과정을 추적하는 연구기법을 개발할 수 있었고 BLM의 금속착물 형성에 의한 새로운 BLM 정량법을 개발하였다. 이러한 방법을 이용하여 CoBLM-A2(성분 1, 2, 3), FeBLM-A2, CuBLM-A2, PtBLM-A2 (성분 1, 2),ZnBLM-A2, CoBLM-32(성분 1, 2)등의 착물을 합성하고 질량분석법을 이용한 다양한 착물합성에 정도를 확인할 수 있었다. The highly purified and large scaled BLM-A2 was obtained from the anticancer drug(Bleocin) containing BLM mixture by establishing HPLC condition. The complex formations with various metaI ions were monitored by Mass spectrometry. CoBLM-A2(component 1,2,3), FeBLM-A2, CuBLM-A2, PtBLM-A2(component 1,2), CoBLM-B2 [component 1,2] were synthesized and quantitatively characterized by Mass spectrometry.

        희생양극을 이용한 자동차 소음기의 음극방식에 관한 연구

        In order to apply a sacrificial anode cathodic protection system for automotive muffler materials, determination of reliable sacrificial anode and its protection ability were evaluated by laboratory tests in synthetic condensed water. Three kinds of sacrificial anodes were selected: aluminum (AI), zinc (Zn) and magnesium (Mg), and the muffler materials were Al-coated steel and uncoated steel. The corrosion behavior in synthetic condensed water for the muffler materials and sacrificial anodes was investigated by potentiodynamic tests. The cathodic protection ability was evaluated by galvanic corrosion test and weight-loss test. The results of the potentiodynamic test indicated that Al was less suitable for sacrificial anode because it became passive. Mg was also unqualified due to the high dissolution rate. However, Zn was adequate for sacrificial anode because of its low dissolution rate, high stability and suitable potential difference. Results of weight-loss test demonstrated that the corrosion rate of Al-coated steel was reduced from 0.028 to 0.018 mm/year, and that of uncoated steel was 0.08 to 0.002 mm/year by coupling with Zn anode. In addition, the proper area ratio of anode to cathode was 1 : 10. From these results, it can be concluded that Zn anode can protect both the Al-coating with passivation, and steel substrate with low dissolution rate. (Received January 8, 2004)
