      • 폐장암에서 p53과 PCNA 표출에 관한 연구

        To observe the expression of p53 protein and PCNA in lung carcinomas and to evaluate the correlationship between the two results, the author has been carried out immunohistochemical staining with mononuclear antibodies against p53 and PCNA. 64 cases of lung carcinomas used consist of 32 cases of squamous cell carcinomas, 18 cases of adenocarcinomas and 14 cases of small cell carcinomas, respectively. 1. p53 protein expression was seen in 16 cases out of 32 (50%) in squamous cell carcinoma, 7 cases out of 18 (39%) in adenocarcinoma and 10 cases out of 14 (71%) in small cell carcinoma. The positive rate of p53 is highest in small cell carcinoma. 2. p53 staining degrees showed that 3+ in 75% of squamous cell carcinoma, 1+ in 58% of adenocarcinoma and 1+ in 50% in small cell carcinma. were observed. The tumor cell composing of squamous cell carcinoma showed most strong staining to p53 protien. 3. PCNA labelling index showed higher index in p53(+) cases than p53(-) cases. The PCNA index of squamous cell carcinoma was highest and adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma in order. Above findings suggested that the PCNA index was related to p53 protein in tumor cells, but the PCNA index appeared to be influenced by the p53 protein content in tumor cells than whether the p53 protien was or not. So the growth rate of squamous cell carcinoma appeared to be most rapid than adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma.

        레이저 스페클간섭법에 있어서 스페클크기와 측정 한계에 관한 연구

        The high coherence of laser beam has made it possible to observe interference effects even in the light scattered from rough surfaces. That's why, when object with a scattering surface is illuminated with laser light, we do see a speckled appearance due to random interference. This sort of unique property of laser speckle has brought into existence the new noncontacting techniques such as speckle metrology method of measuring deformation, displacement, and vibration etc of objects with high optical sensitivity. The measurable range of speckle metrology especially used to measure in-plane information, however, is limited by some factors, the so-called strain, rotation, tilt of surface and out of displacement perpendicular to the plane of analysis. This restrictions severly limits the measurable range of speckle metrology by causing the decorrelation of speckle patterns. It is the purpose of this paper to give a survey on the measurable limitation of speckle photography method that is one of speckle metrology. Namely we will discuss the mutual relationships and problems of each limitations adding the restriction of the largest and smallest displacement measurable with speckle methods.

        Screening of Korean Medicinal Herbs for Hormonal Activities using Recombinant Yeast Assay and MCF-7 Human Breast Cancer Cells

        약용식물내 에스트로겐성과 항-에스트로겐성을 조사하고 항암인자를 발견하기 위하여, 본연구는 에탄올추출로 제조된 9종류의 한국산 약용식물에 대하여 재조합효모와 MCF-7 사람유방암세포주를 이용하여 스크리닝하고 비교하였다. 재조합효모를 이용한 실험결과, 7종류의 약용식물에서 에스트로겐성이 나타났고, 4종류에서 안드로겐성이 나타났다. 또한 MCF-7 사람유방암세포주를 이용한 실험결과, 8종류의 추출물이 MCF-7 세포의 성장을 억제하는 것으로 확인되었으며 비스페놀 A와 동시 처치한 경우에도 유의적으로 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Clyeyrrhiza uralensis, Cassia tora, Syringa velutina, Zingiber officinale, Malva verticillata, Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer는 식물성 에스트로겐으로서 에스트로겐에 양성인 사람유방암세포의 증식을 유의적으로 억제시티는 흥미로운 결과가 제시되었다. 따라서 이번 연구는 한국산 약용식물이 식물성 에스트로겐과 항암인자로서 이용될 수 있으며, 에스트로겐의 활성을 조사하는데 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. To investigate whether there are estrogenic and anti-estrogenic activities in various medicinal herbs and discover prominent chemo-preventive agents, eye screened and compared the ethanol extracts of 9 plants through the recombinant yeast assay and MCF-7 human breast cancer cell assay. In recombinant yeast assay. seven medicinal herbs showed estrogenicity, and tour extracts showed androgenecity. In MCF-7 proliferation assay. the growth of MCF-7 cells was inhibited by eight extracts before and even alter co-treatment with bisphenol A. It is interesting that the extracts of Glyeyrrhiza uralensis, Cassia tora, Syringa velutina, Zingiber officinale, Malva verticillata, and Ponax ginseng C.A. Meyer exhibited inhibitory effects as phytoestrogens in estrogen-responsive human breast cancer cells. This study suggests that some Korean medicinal herbs might be considered as phytoestrooens and be useful to further analyze those plants which contain the estrogenic effect in order to identify the active principles.

        KAAACI Allergic Rhinitis Guidelines: Part 1. Update in Pharmacotherapy

        The prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR) and the socioeconomic burden associated with the medical cost and quality of life (QOL) of AR have progressively increased. Therefore, practical guidelines for the appropriate management of AR need to be developed based on scientific evidence while considering the real-world environment, values, and preferences of patients and physicians. The Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology revised clinical guidelines of AR to address key clinical questions of the management of AR. Part 1 of the revised guideline covers the pharmacological management of patients with AR in Korea. Through a meta-analysis and systematic review, we made 4 recommendations for AR pharmacotherapy, including intranasal corticosteroid (INCS)/intranasal antihistamine (INAH) combination therapy, oral antihistamine/INCS combination therapy, leukotriene receptor antagonist treatment in AR patients with asthma, and prophylactic treatment for patients with pollen-induced AR. However, all recommendations are conditional because of the low or very low evidence of certainty. Well-designed and strictly executed randomized controlled trials are needed to measure and report appropriate outcomes.

        Development of Battery Management System for Electric Vehicle Applications of Ni/MH Battery

        전기자동차의 성능은 축전지의 성능에 의해 크게 좌우된다. 그러므로 우수한 성능과 높은 신뢰성을 가진 전기자동차를 개발하기 위해서는 다양한 운영조건에서 축전지가 최대의 성능을 가질 수 있게 잘 관리되어야 한다. 축전지의 성능 향상은 축전지 관리 시스템(BMS)의 적용에 의해 달성될 수 있으며 BMS는 축전지의 상태 감시뿐만 아니라 축전지의 충전 및 방전을 최적화하는 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 이 연구에서는 전기자동차에 적용된 니켈 메탈하이드라이드 전지(Ni/MH battery) 이용을 최대화하기 위한 역할을 수행하는 BMS를 개발하였다 이 시스템은 축전지의 충전 및 방전 제어, 과충전 및 과방전 방지, 잔존용량 계산 및 표시, 안전관리 및 열관리 등의 기능을 가진다. 금번 개발된 BMS를 대우자동차와 고등기술원이 공동 개발한 DEV5-5전기자동차에 장착하여 시험을 수행하였다. 이 차량에는 파나소닉사의 12V-95Ah사양의 Ni/MH battery 18모듈이 적용되었다 시험결과 이 시스템은 $3\%$ 이내의 높은 정확성을 가지고 있으며 우수한 신뢰성을 나타내었다. 이 BMS는 전기자동차의 신뢰성과 안전도뿐만 아니라 Ni/MH battery pack의 성능과 수명을 향상시킬 것이다. Electric vehicle performance is very dependent on traction batteries. For developing the electric vehicles with high performance and good reliability, the traction batteries have to be managed to get maximum performance under various operating conditions. The enhancement of the battery performance can be accomplished by implementing battery management system (BMS) that plays important roles of optimizing the control mechanism of charge and discharge of the batteries as well as monitoring battery status. In this study the battery management system has been developed for maximizing the use of Ni/MH batteries in electric vehicle. This system provides several tasks: the control of charging and discharging, overcharge and over-discharge protection, the calculation and display of state of charge, safety and thermal management. The BMS was installed in and tested using the DEV5-5 electric vehicle developed by Daewoo Motor Co. and Institute for Advanced Engineering in Korea. The 18 modules of Panasonic Ni/MH battery, 12 V-95 Ah, were used in the DEV5-5. The high accuracy within the range of $3\%$ and the good reliability were shown in the test results. The BMS can also improve the performance and cycle life of Ni/MH battery pack as well as the reliability and safety of the electric vehicles (EV).

        Preparation and Properties of Waterborne Poly(urethane-urea) Ionomers -Effect of the Type of Neutralizing Agent-

        A series of waterbome poly(urethane-urea) anionomers were prepared from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polycaprolactone diol (PCL), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), ethylene diamine (EDA), and triethylamine (TEA), NaOH, or Cu($(COOCH_3)_2$) as neutralizing agent. This study was performed to decide the effect of neutralizing agent type on the particle size viscosity, hydrogen bonding index, adhesive strength, antistaticity, antibacterial and mechanical properties. The particle size of the dispersions decreased in the following order: TEA based samples (T-sample), NaOH based samples (N-sample), and Cu($(COOCH_3)_2$) based sample (C-sample). The viscosity of the dispersions increased in the order of C-sample, N-sample, and T-sample. Metal salt based film samples Of and C-sample) had much higher antistaticity than TEA based sample. By infrared spectroscopy, it was found that the hydrogen bonding index (or fraction) of samples decreased in the order of T-sam-pie, N-sample, and C-sample. The adhesive strength and tensile modulus/strength decreased in the order of T-sample, N-sam-pie, and C-sample. The C-sample had strong antibacterial halo, however, T- and N-samples did not

        New fabrication process of silicon quantum dots using external laser irradiation

        We present an ecient technique for the formation of silicon quantum dots (Si QDs) by exposing a Nd: YAG laser (wavelength = 355 nm) onto amorphous Si lm. Primary emphasis is placed on the simple and direct fabrication of the Si QDs without performing any micro or nano-patterning process. The scanned laser irradiation of low power causes localized segregation of as-deposited lm by the laser-induced heat, resulting in the fabrication of Si QDs. Observations in scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope system clearly conrm highly uniform and controllable nanoscale Si QDs in our case. The average size and density of the Si QDs were about 4 nm and 1.5 1012/cm2, respectively. In addition, optical and electrical properties of the Si QDs were investigated by photoluminescence and C-V measurements. The experimental results suggest that our new process can lead to very stable optical and electrical devices, with well controllable and reproducible Si QDs.

        Magnetic properties of randomly oriented cobalt nano dots prepared by an external laser irradiation process

        Magnetic properties of randomly oriented ferromagnetic cobalt nano dots were investigated as a function of dot diameter. Polycrystalline Co thin lm of 1 3 nm was at rst grown on Si substrate by a magnetron sputtering method and then followed by an ultraviolet laser exposure on as-grown Co thin lm in order to produce Co nano dots with dierent diameters. The Co dot size, density, and spacing (distance between dot and nearby dots) was intentionally controlled by initial deposition thickness under optimum laser conditions. Magnetic hysteresis and angle-dependent magnetization of Co nano dots were measured with superconducting quantum interference devices, a vibrating sample magnetometer and magnetic force microscopy. The observed results demonstrate that the coercivity, hysteresis loops, reversal mechanism and anisotropy properties were strongly in uenced by the exchange interaction with neighboring ferromagnetic nano dots.

        This paper is to present the performance data for improved direct setting method using tile bond for application of porcelain tile under 1 percent absorptance. For this purpose, improved direct setting method type 1 & 2(tile bond curing time 0, 24H) were compared with the conventional setting methods(including direct setting method and improved pressure setting method) in the sight of the adhesive stability of porcelain tile. It tested for tiles after 14, 28days under standard condition and severe conditions. The severe conditions were water immersion, heat ageing(70℃) and freeze-thaw cycle. On the basis of test results, the adhesive strength of direct setting method was lowest for the conventional setting methods. But improved direct setting method using tile bonds(A, B) came close to the result of improved pressure setting method using tile bonds.
