        인공판막 재대치험예에서의 판막실패의 양상

        In order to observe the aspects of prosthetic cardiac valve failure, we analyzed 26 cases of Redo operation among 1081 cases of valve replacemant performed from Jan. 1961. to July 1986. The results are as follows; 1) Crude Redo operation rate was 2.4%. 2) The most common cause or prosthetic cardiac valve failure was the primary tissue failure (73%) 8r the PVE was the 2nd (15.4%). 3) Mean valve implantation time was 47.7 months. Implantation time in the child group was shorter than in adult by 6.8 months, In the primary tissue failure group (19 cases) implantation time in the child was 42.8 months 8z in adult, 66.8 months. (P$lt;0.05) In conclusion, the durability of tissue valves was significantly decreased in the child age group because of increased propensity for calcification, so the preference of tissue valves especially in this age group should be reconsidered.

        CsI(Li) 단결정의 섬광특성

        CsI(Li) single crystals doped with 0.02, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mole% lithium as an activator were grown by Czochralski method. The lattice structure of grown CsI(Li) single crystal was bcc, its lattice constant was 4.568 Å. The absorption edge of CsI(Li) single crystal was 245 nm, and the spectral range of luminescence was 300 ∼ 600 nm, its maximum luminescence intensity appeared at 425 nm. The energy resolutions of CsI(Li) single crystal doped with 0.2 mole% lithium were 14.5 % for ^(137)Cs(662 keV), 11.4 % for ^(54)Mn(835 keV) and 17.7 o and 7.9 o for ^(22)Na(511 keV and 1275 keV), respectively. The relation formula of y -ray energy versus energy resolution was In ( FWHM% ) = -0.893 lnE + 8.456 and energy calibration formula was logE_r=1.455los(ch.)-1.277. The phosphorescence decay time of CsI(Li) crystal doped with 0.2 mole% lithium was 0.51 s at room temperature, and its time resolution measured by CFT(constant-fraction timing method) was 9.0 ns.

        신장의 이상회전과 T2Hemivertebra 를 동반한 선천성 일측폐 발육 부전증 1 예

        A case of congenital agenesis of left lung of a 19-years-old female is presented in detail with some review of literature. She had been suffered from mild dyspnea on exertion since early childhood but she was been comfatable unti16 months ago, when frequent upper respiratory infection and dyspnea developed. From 10 days earlier, mild fever was associated and dyspnea on exertion was aggravated. Her past history and family history were not contributary. Physical examination revealed asymmetrical development of both thoracic cage and showed limited respiratory movement of left thorax. There were increased percussion dullness and absent breathing sounds over entire left lung field except left upper lung field. The cardiac dullness was shifted to the left and heart sunds were heard over the 4th ICS X MCL. A roentgenogram of the chest revealed shifting to the left of trachea and mediastinum, homosgenou increased density of left lung, hyperlucency of right lung, and T, hemivertebra, Bronchoscopy showed total absence of left main bronchus. Bronchogram revealed above findings too, but right main bronchus was intact. CT scan revealed agenesis of left lung and herniation of right lung to left hemithorax. Intravenous pyelography showed malrotation of kidney. Pulmonary angioram and cardiac catheterization showed unremarkable findings except total absence of left pulmonary artery.

        승모판막 질환에서의 Doppler 심초음파도를 이용한 확장기 좌심방-좌심실 평균 압력차에 대한 연구

        Diastolic LA and LV pressure gradient was determined with doppler echocardiography in 35 patients with mitral valvular heart disease and was compared with that determined with cardiac catheterization. In 23 patients who underwent mitral valvular replacement, pre and postoperative pressure gradients were observed, Correlation between pressure gradient and pressure half time was investigated with Doppler echocardiography. The results were as follows; 1) 1n total 35 patients with MVHD, mean ΔP in Doppler and cath were 15.8±6.3 (mean±S.D.) mmHg and 17.0±6.7mmHg, respectively, and the correlation coefficient was 0.91. 2) In 15 patients with pure MS, mean ΔP in Doppler and cath, were 15.5±6.1mmHg and 16.1±5.6mmHg, respectively, and the correlation coefficient was 0.90. 3) In 23 patients who underwent MVR, preop ΔP and postop Δ4P were 17.0±6.2mmHg and 2.2±0.9mmHg, respectively, and the difference was significant. 4) In 13 patients with Ionescu Shiley valve, ΔP and T were 2.1mmHgSl.lmmHg, and 110±50msec respectively. In 9 patients with St. Jude valve, ΔP and T1/2 were 2.3±0.7mmHg and 65±22msec, respectively, 5) The correlation coefficient between ΔP and T1/2 was 0.48 in total 35 MVHD and 0.57 in 15 pure MS. The correlation coefficient between ΔP divided by cardiac index and T1/2 f, was 0.63 in 15 pure MS. Therefore, Doppler echocardiography is a useful noninvasive diagnostic tool for measurement of the pressure gradient between LA and LV in MVHD, and can be used to assess the severity of preop, MVHD and postop. result and to follow up patients after operation.

        A composite base metal oxide catalyst which consists of manganese dioxide and silver oxide was developed. Catalytic properties with thermal degradations and preparation methods were investigated using the oxidation reaction of carbon monoxide. It is shown that catalytic reactivity is dependent of oxidation state of each metal oxide and metal oxide catalyst has some advantage compare to the commercial platinum catalyst in the initial state.

        This paper proposes that the proper exegesis of the Three Angels’ Messages can be established only by careful analysis of Revelation 12 and 13 as the backdrop for the Messages. There are two sets of competing messages: The urges of the earth beast, and the countering warnings of the three angels. And the inhabitants of the world were threatened by the angels just as the saints were threatened by the coercion of the earth beast backed up by the sea beast and the dragon.

        Effect of different cooking methods on the content and bioaccessibility of iodine components in abalone (<i>Haliotis discus hannai</i>)

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The present study aimed to evaluate the changes in total iodine and iodine species (iodide, iodate, 3-iodo-<SMALL>L</SMALL>-tyrosine, and 3,5-diiodo-<SMALL>L</SMALL>-tyrosine) content in abalone after different treatments (raw, semi-drying, steaming, grilling, and boiling) and <I>in-vitro</I> digestion using high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (HPLC-ICP-MS). The highest reduction in iodine content was found in boiled abalone (64.95%), followed by steamed (32.40%) and grilled (32.11%) abalones. There is no significant difference between iodine content of raw and semi-dried abalone. Absorption efficiency was determined by an <I>in vitro</I> digestion procedure using simulated gastro/intestinal solutions. Unlike total iodine content after cooking, absorption efficiency increased after cooking. Absorption efficiency of semi-dried abalone is the highest (28.53%), followed by boiled (23.85%), grilled (22.62%), steamed (21.51%), and raw (12.20%) abalones. Iodide was the major form of iodine present in the abalone after cooking and <I>in vitro</I> digestion. No iodate was observed, and the organic iodine content was very low.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Iodine species in abalone (<I>Haliotis discus hannai</I>) was determined by HPLC-ICP-MS. </LI> <LI> The iodine content and composition in abalone depends on the cooking procedure. </LI> <LI> The largest amount of iodine in abalone was lost through the boiling procedure. </LI> <LI> Bioaccessibility of iodine in abalone increased after cooking. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Structures and Formation Energies of Li<sub>x</sub>C<sub>6</sub> (x=1-3) and its Homologues for Lithium Rechargeable Batteries

        Using first principles density functional theory the formation energies of various binary compounds of lithium graphite and its homologues were calculated. Lithium and graphite react to form $Li_1C_6$ (+141 mV) but not form $LiC_4$ (-143 mV), $LiC_3$ (-247 mV) and $LiC_2$ (-529 mV) because they are less stable than lithium metal itself. Properties of structure and reaction potentials of $C_5B$, $C_5N$ and $B_3N_3$ materials as iso-structural graphite were studied. Boron and nitrogen substituted graphite and boron-nitrogen material as a iso-electronic structured graphitic material have longer graphene layer spacing than that of graphite. The layer spacing of $Li_xC_6$, $Li_xC_5B$, $Li_xC_5N$ materials increased until to x=1, and then decreased until to x=2 and 3. Nevertheless $Li_xB_3N_3$ has opposite tendency of layer spacing variation. Among various lithium compositions of $Li_xC_5B$, $Li_xC_5N$ and $Li_xB_3N_3$, reaction potentials of $Li_xC_5B$ (x=1-3) and $Li_xC_5$ (x=1) from total energy analyses have positive values against lithium deposition.

      • 산업폐기물 발생원 관리에 관한 연구

        Industrial Wastes of about 51,000 tonnes were generated from all industrial fields in Korea in the last year, and have been increasing gradually in generation by about 15 % annual increasing rate. But the environmental pollution problem has been severe for last few years because of mis-management an illegal treatment compared with large amout of generation quantity of industrial waste. The minimization through the recycling of valuable materials was found to be the best solution of the industrial waste problems. In order to make success it, the materials and quantity of them generated from the generation source should be obtained collectly. The standard process and flow diagrams on the generation of industrial wastes were obtained through the investigation of more than two hundred factories in the SIC 04 and SIC 05, and also the standard generation quantity based on unit mass of product and raw material were given according to the manufacturing, product.
