Design Techniques For A PAL/NTSC Mixed-Signal Video Encoder With 66dB SNR & 0.4% Differential Gain
Cummins, Tim,Purcell, John 대한전자공학회 1996 APCCAS:Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits And Sys Vol.1 No.1
This paper describes the integration of ASIC and Mixed Signal design and simulation techniques in the design of s Mixed-Signal Digital Video Encoder chip which produces an analog output video signal. The result was fast time to market together with studio quality analog video output performance - 66dB typ SNR, 0.4% Differential Gain and 0.2 Differential Phase. A fully-automated design flow was used fur the entire logic functionality of the chip in order to meet time-to-market requirements. Low die cost (compatible with hand-craft techniques) was achieved by agressive use of CAD tools, process technology, and filter design techniques. Full functionality on first silicon was achieved by use of standard cell DACs, pads, Amplifier, and Band-Gap reference, and the use of a simulation test-bench which allowed frames of video to be simulated by the chip model, and the resultant simulation output to be captured and viewed on a video monitor. Some of the practical aspects of timing analysis and dynamic power estimation are also described.

Growth in demand for qualified salespeople has resulted in an increase in both university sales programs and the number of schools that want to transition their programs into sales centers and institutes. Despite this interest, few published articles provide direction on how to plan and launch a sales center. This research examines the views and experiences of existing and aspiring sales center directors to gain deeper insights into the tactics and techniques used for sales center creation and management. Leveraging an organizational learning theory approach, this work uses a mixedmethod design to compare aspiring centers’ concerns with the experience and advice of existing center directors.

ABSTRACT: Noradrenergic dysfunction may be associated with cognitive impairments in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including increased response time variability, which has been proposed as a leading endophenotype for ADHD. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between polymorphisms in the α-2A-adrenergic receptor (ADRA2A) and norepinephrine transporter (SLC6A2) genes and attentional performance in ADHD children before and after pharmacological treatment. One hundred one medication-naive ADHD children were included. All subjects were administered methylphenidate (MPH)–OROS for 12 weeks. The subjects underwent a computerized comprehensive attention test to measure the response time variability at baseline before MPH treatment and after 12 weeks. Additive regression analyses controlling for ADHD symptom severity, age, sex, IQ, and final dose of MPH examined the association between response time variability on the comprehensive attention test measures and allelic variations in single-nucleotide polymorphisms of the ADRA2A and SLC6A2 before and after MPH treatment.Increasing possession of an A allele at the G1287A polymorphism of SLC6A2 was significantly related to heightened response time variability at baseline in the sustained (P = 2.0 × 10) and auditory selective attention (P = 1.0 × 10) tasks. Response time variability at baseline increased additively with possession of the T allele at the DraI polymorphism of the ADRA2A gene in the auditory selective attention task (P = 2.0 × 10). After medication, increasing possession of a G allele at the MspI polymorphism of the ADRA2A gene was associated with increased MPH-related change in response time variability in the flanker task (P = 1.0 × 10).Our study suggested an association between norepinephrine gene variants and response time variability measured at baseline and after MPH treatment in children with ADHD. Our results add to a growing body of evidence, suggesting that response time variability is a viable endophenotype for ADHD and suggesting its utility as a surrogate end point for measuring stimulant response in pharmacogenetic studies.

Financial reimbursements after receiving the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine have been criticized in the literature. This strategy has been described as payment to receive the vaccines, undue inducement, and unethical. We are aware that healthcare workers who work in primary healthcare, prevention, and public health may encounter similar reasons from people who refuse vaccination against COVID-19. For this reason, we are compelled to clarify these claims and provide arguments for all healthcare workers who might be challenged by such reasoning. In this critical review, we discuss why the claims against financial incentives that have been presented in the literature are erroneous.

<P><B>Summary</B></P><P>Mammalian lipid homeostasis requires proteolytic activation of membrane-bound sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP) transcription factors through sequential action of the Golgi Site-1 and Site-2 proteases. Here we report that while SREBP function is conserved in fungi, fission yeast employs a different mechanism for SREBP cleavage. Using genetics and biochemistry, we identified four genes <I>d</I>efective for <I>S</I>REBP <I>c</I>leavage, <I>dsc1-4</I>, encoding components of a transmembrane Golgi E3 ligase complex with structural homology to the Hrd1 E3 ligase complex involved in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation. The Dsc complex binds SREBP and cleavage requires components of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway: the E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc4, the Dsc1 RING E3 ligase, and the proteasome. <I>dsc</I> mutants display conserved aggravating genetic interactions with components of the multivesicular body pathway in fission yeast and budding yeast, which lacks SREBP. Together, these data suggest that the Golgi Dsc E3 ligase complex functions in a post-ER pathway for protein degradation.</P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P><P><ce:figure id='dfig1'></ce:figure></P><P><B>Highlights</B></P><P>► Yeast SREBP is proteolytically activated by a different mechanism than mammalian SREBP ► Deletion collection screen identified four <I>dsc</I> genes required for fission yeast SREBP cleavage ► Dsc proteins form a Golgi E3 ligase complex that resembles Hrd1 E3 ligase in ERAD ► Yeast SREBP cleavage requires activities of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway</P>

Individual farmers subjectively perceive the attributes of green agricultural innovations andtheir subsequent benefits. Qualifying this knowledge is important, but past efforts havelargely been unsystematic. This systematic study assesses the structure of perceivedattributes of sustainable agricultural practices. Through a survey of Malaysian vegetablefarmers, the results of confirmatory factor analysis indicate that the most robust structureconsists of four attributes. The four important attributes are relative advantage, compatibility, complexity and trialability. Among them, measures are required to link noneconomicbenefits to profitability to the attribute of relative advantage. Our work representsa guide to assist change agents to evaluate farmer perceptions at different locationssystematically. This structured method will help effectively to design and promotesustainable agriculture and other green agricultural innovations.
