      • Effects of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase on cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse dentate gyrus.

        <P>Oxidative stress is one of the most important factors in reducing adult hippocampal neurogenesis in the adult brain. In this study, we observed the effects of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD1) on lipid peroxidation, cell proliferation, and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse dentate gyrus using malondialdehyde (MDA), Ki67, and doublecortin (DCX), respectively. We constructed an expression vector, PEP-1, fused PEP-1 with SOD1, and generated PEP-1-SOD1 fusion protein. We administered PEP-1 and 100 or 500 관g PEP-1-SOD1 intraperitoneally once a day for 3 weeks and sacrificed at 30 min after the last administrations. PEP-1 administration did not change the MDA levels compared to those in the vehicle-treated group, while PEP-1-SOD1 treatment significantly reduced MDA levels compared to the vehicle-treated group. In the PEP-1-treated group, the number of Ki67-positive nuclei was similar to that in the vehicle-treated group. In the 100 관g PEP-1-SOD1-treated group, the number of Ki67-positive nuclei was slightly decreased; however, in the 500 관g PEP-1-SOD1-treated group, Ki67-positive nuclei were decreased to 78.5% of the vehicle-treated group. The number of DCX-positive neuroblasts in the PEP-1-treated group was similar to that in the vehicle-treated group. However, the arborization of DCX-positive neuroblasts was significantly decreased in both the 100 and 500 관g PEP-1-SOD1-treated groups compared to that in the vehicle-treated group. The number of DCX-positive neuroblasts with tertiary dendrites was markedly decreased in the 500 관g PEP-1-SOD1-treated group. These results suggest that a SOD1 supplement to healthy mice may not be necessary to modulate cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the dentate gyrus.</P>

        Systemic administration of low dosage of tetanus toxin decreases cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse hippocampal dentate gyrus

        In the present study, we investigated the effect of Tetaus toxin (TeT) on cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation using specific markers: 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) as an exogenous marker for cell proliferation, Ki-67 as an endogenous marker for cell proliferation and doublecortin (DCX) as a marker for neuroblasts in the mouse hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) after TeT treatment. Mice were intraperitoneally administered 2.5 and 10 ng/kg TeT and sacrificed 15 days after the treatment. In both the TeT-treated groups, no neuronal death occurred in any layers of the DG using neuronal nuclei (NeuN, a neuron nuclei maker) and Fluoro-Jade B (F-J B, a high-affinity fluorescent marker for the localization of neuronal degeneration). In addition, no significant change in glial activation in both the 2.5 and 10 ng/kg TeT-treated-groups was found by GFAP (a marker for astrocytes) and Iba-1 (a marker for microglia) immunohistochemistry. However, in the 2.5 ng/kg TeT-treated-group, the mean number of BrdU, Ki-67 and DCX immunoreactive cells, respectively, were apparently decreased compared to the control group, and the mean number of each in the 10 ng/kg TeT-treated-group was much more decreased. In addition, processes of DCX-immunoreactive cells, which projected into the molecular layer, were short compared to those in the control group. In brief, our present results show that low dosage (10 ng/kg) TeT treatment apparently decreased cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse hippocampal DG without distinct gliosis as well as any loss of adult neurons.

      • Effects of <i>Ginkgo biloba</i> Extract on Promotion of Neurogenesis in the Hippocampal Dentate Gyrus in C57BL/6 Mice

        <P><I>Ginkgo biloba </I>leaf extract (Gb) has been known to improve blood flow and preclude the tissue from free radical damage. Effects of Gb were examined by using Ki67, a specific proliferative marker for cellular proliferation, and doublecortin (DCX), a marker for immature neurons, indicating degree of neuroblast differentiation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) of adult C57BL/6 mice. The mice were fed with Gb at 40 and 100 mg/kg once daily for 28 days. The increase of Ki67- and DCX-immunoreactive cells in the DG was increased in a dose-dependent manner. Especially, the group having 100 mg/kg Gb showed a significant increase of DCX-immunoreactive neuroblasts with well-developed tertiary dendrites. Expression of DCX protein in the Gb groups was also significantly increased upon compared with the vehicle group. The results suggested that repeated intake of Gb would enhance cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation in the mouse DG.</P>

        The purpose of this study is as follows: (1) We develope a CAI(computer assisted instruction) program for misconception correction on electronic current. (2) To study leaning effects of CAI program, we apply it to relevant grades of junior high school students and investigate degree of the science achievement. The findings of this study are as follows : Many students had misconceptions about electric current such as current consumption idea, current distribution idea, current independent of resistance idea. CAI classes applied with individual learning were effective to correct the misconception. Especially, they brought about big difference in the achievement of correction for current distribution idea.

      • 大學의 學生生活과 學生運動의 健全化方案 : 問題要因과 解決策을 中心으로

        1. The Purpose of the study. This study was to find out the factors of problems facing student life and to solve the Problems how to adjust throughout the campus setting. 2. Contents of the study. The researchers aimed to investigate the following problems. in order to lead the students for proper directions. 1) Analyzing problems in view of personal stand point. 2) Reviewing the background of student movement and recent trends. 3) The essential function of university. 4) Role and focal point in the university life. 5) The relation of professors and students. 6) Value aventation of the students. 7) The degree of satisfaction to the major field of study. 8) Problems of career and scholastic achievement. 9) Understanding of student guidance center. 3. Methods and Procedures of the study. The stratified random sampling procedure was used to draw the problems of student life and movement. The sample consist of 362 male and 265 female among 1000 students. The total of 625 was computed to find the results and percentages were used in determine for finding. 4. Conclusions and Recommendations. An analysis and discussion resulting from this study led to the following conclusions. One major responsible factor to find out the problems of college student life and movement is to assist to students welfare and adjustment for the college activity. (1) The function of the university is to bring up the leadership cultured men. (2) The major activity of college life is to cultivate academic performance and basic skill. (3) It is recognized as major role of circle and hobby beyond the major field of study in the student life. (4) It is said that the major role of the student is to participate the present social problems and also social service activity. (5) It is argued that sense of autonomy must be maintained and critifical judgement and correction of social injustice should be improved. (6) It responded to the order of friend, senior, books which influenced to the students. (7) The degree of satisfaction to the major field of study revealed that half of the students satisfied with the study and the rest of the students were disinterested. (8) The responses of the student for the role and function of the student guidance center were too low and did not know what the function is. Suggestions: (1) The school authority should emphasize the role and function of the student guidance center and assist necessary administrative and financial support for the successful student guidance. (2) It is necessary to strengthen the counseling service activity for the purpose of good relationship between professors and students and prepare for the accelleration of dialogue. (3) The government and school authorities should build up guarantee for the autonomy of school activities, and also expand it effectively. (4) The school authorities and professors should eliminate the consciousness of authority and adopt the method of the democratic leadership. (5) We must consider the system for the student welfare and supplement over all facilities of the school environment. (6) It is necessary to establish the center for placement and pays attention to their career and employment. (7) It is necessary to provide free discussion for the realistic participation into the free society.

      • 우리나라 生活指導의 問題點 分析을 통한 解決方案의 探索的 硏究

        Guidance is one of the most difficult of all educational subjects to discuss because of the past and continuing confusion and uncertainty concerning its nature and function. Our increasingly complex environment and awareness of individual differences make an attempt at guidance in the school inevitable. Ideally conceived, guidance enables each individual to know his abilities, interests, and personality traits, to develop them as well as possible, to keep them flexible in order to meet the demands of a fluid environment, to relate them his life goals and to clarify these goals, and finally to reach a state of complete and mature self-guidance as a desirable citizen of our democratic social order and of the world. In this context, the researchers attempt to investigate the problems of guidance in the elementary, secondary schools and university in Korea ever since guidance was introduced in Korea in 1957. And We tried to find out proper solutions to develop potentiality of each individual by way of guidance program from each school authorities. The contents of the study was summarized as follows: 1.to find out the theoretical background of guidance services in general 2.to investigate the actual condition of professional counselors in the each schools 3.to analize problems of guidance in the each school 4.to suggest the solutions of the problems in the each school 5.to illustrate the present status of counseling and method in elementary, secondary school and university. 6.to suggest the zele and duty of the counselor in school 7.to show the suggestions of policy making to promote the execution of guidance The findings and suggestions of this study were summarized as following items. 1.It is necessary to systematize professional counselor system for actualizing counseling activity and career guidance in the elementary school 2.It is required to assist administrative function and financial help for establishing counseling room in the elementary school 3.It is necessary to dis patch professional counselor in each school and required to utilize the counseling room for all students 4.It is required to regulate the system of counselor certificate and to be changed into inservice training for the temporary counseling training course employed so far. 5.It is suggested to install career information center to the each school and to advise to use them effectively. 6.It is necessary to execute standardized test such as intelligence, aptitude, personality test, interest, creativity, scholastic aptitude test, and vocational interest test in the school and to utilize them positively. 7.It is suggested to utilize the student guidance center in the university and to emphasize counseling service function by counselor. 8.It is necessary to establish student's suggestion box to each school and suggest to solve the problems which students ask for.

      • 배열형 전력 MOSFET의 설계 및 제작

        In this paper, the design of the array type power MOSFETs is discussed in terms of on-resistance, breakdown voltage, placement of FLRs(field limiting ring) and threshold voltage. Also, 9-cell(square-on square grid) VDMOSs are fabricated to confirm the feasibility of the design method. Existence of optimum p-well spacing for minimum on-resistance, which is anticipated by the theoretical results is confirmed by the experiment of the fabricated power MOSFETs. Breakdown voltage of power MOSFET is upgraded by using two FLR's and their optimum placement is determined from the experimental results of the diodes with FLRs. The threshold voltage is controlled by the ion implantation within the design specification. Experimental results are in good agreement with the design specification. Experimental results are in good agreement with the design values. Characteristics of the fabricated power MOSFETs are 190Ω in on-resistance, 270V in breakdown voltage and 2.9V in thershold voltage.
