Many athletes have experienced gaining weight, especially body fat, after retiring their athletic life. We investigated the effect of different diet supplication during detraining periods after short-term aerobic exercise on the blood lipids and body composition in rats. Forty-nine SD rats were trained by application of treadmill run 4 wks. After the traininng periods, they were ingested different diet that Normai diet as the control (No), high carbohydrate (HC), and high fat (HF) with the same calorie (105 Cal) for 7d or 15d of detraining periods. Body weight,stered fat (BF), blood glucose, total cholesterol (TC). HDL-C, LCD-C, triglyceride (TG), and liver glycogen were analyzed with Lo`s methods. BF was significantly lower in the HF at 15d of experiment compared to the other group (P<.05). TG was significantly high in the HF and HDL-C was statistically increased in the No group (p<.05).LDL-C, however, was Not significantly different between groups and trials. These result suggested that the importance of diet composition during detraining periods have to emphasized to the athletes to maintain their physical fitness. Even though HF ingestion has better effect of body fat accumulation, it might causes hyperlipidemia for days. Therefore. more researches are needed for the future.

N/A Background : Histologic evidence of destruction of a cutaneous nerve by granulomatous inflammation is a feature of tuberculoid leprosy. However, identifying remnants of the nerve in the granuloma may be difficult in some instances because of morphologic similarities with granulomatous dermatoses, such as sarcoidosis, lupus vulgaris, tertiary syphilis, etc. Object : The purpose of this study was to investigate the expressions of S-100 and EMA and to estimate area, thickness and density of nerves for differentiation truberculoid leprosy from sarcoidosis. Methods : Paraffin embedded tissues from patients of 11 tuberculoid leprosy, and 4 sarcoidosis were investigated for the expression of S-100, EMA and for the measurement of area, thickness, density of nerves by image analysis. Results : 1. S-100 staining in tuberculoid leprosy demonstrated fragmented, infiltrated, swollen nerves or the absence of dermal nerves(45.5%). 2. All of the detectable nerves were identified within granulomas from tuberculoid leprosy, but nerves from sarcoidosis were widely distributed over inside(33.3%) or outside of the granulomas, perivascular, and periappendageal areas. 3. There was no expression of EMA in skin lesions from leprosy, sarcoidosis, even in the site showing perineural thickening in S-100 stain. 4. The cross-section area and the thickness of nerves were decreased in order of tuberculold leprosy, sarcoidosis, and normal control group(p<0.05). 5. The density of nerves was decreased in order of normal control group tuberculoid leprosy, and sarcoidosis with statistical significance between tuberculoid leprosy and sarcoidosis. Conclusion : It is possible to differentiate tuberculoid leprosy from sarcoidosis by the observation of the morphologic changes with S-100 protein stain and the measurement of the cross-section area, thickness and density with image analysis.(Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(10 : 1332~1337)

Benzophenones are aromatic ketone derivatives of dibenzoylmethane, exhibiting absorption characteristics not only in the UVC and UVB spectral ranges but also in part of the UVA range, up to 360㎚. They are commonly used for extending the spectrum of photoprotection. Benzophenone-3, one of the most popular benzophenones, is the most common cause of sunscreen allergy as well as a substitute of PABA. We report a case of photoallergic contact dermatitis due to benzophenone-3 of sunscreen. (Korean J Dermatol 2004;42(3):328~331)

N/A Cutaneous focal mucinosis was first described by Johnson and Helwig in 1961 and is histo-logically characterized by localized accumulation of mucin in the upper and middermis with scattered spindle-shaped fibroblasts. The mucis is jelly-like acid mucopolysaccharide consisting of hyaluronic acid bound to small amounts of chondroitin sulfate and heparin. The pathogenesis of cutaneous mucinosis is unclear. However, studies of various cutaneous mucinoses suggest that there may be an unknown circulating factor that stimulates fibroblasts to produce this material. Differential diagnoses include papular mucinosis, myxoid cyst, cutaneous myxom. Simple surgical excision is the treatment of choice. In the present case, cutaneous focal mucinosis occurs on the nail bed with onycho-mycosis. (Korean J Dermatol 2004;42(1):61~64)

Patients undergoing maintenance dialysis show an increased susceptibility to tuberculosis because host immunity is decreased secondary to malnutrition, impaired cellular immunity, acidosis and etc. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis is more prevalent in patients with end stage renal disease than in normal subjects. Among the extrapulmonary tuberculosis in patients receiving hemodialysis, the diagnosis of tuberculous spondylitis is difficult because the symptoms are non specific and attributable to uremia, and the appearance of plain radiographs is often normal during the early phase of the disease. We experienced a case of tuberculous spondylitis in a hemodialysis patient. A 55 years old female admitted with fever, weight loss and back pain. Conventional radiograph of T-spine showed no definite abnormal finding. However, chest CT revealed heterogeneously enhancing soft tissue around the T8 vertebral body and T-spine MRI showed compatible finding to tuberculous spondylitis. She received radical excision of involved vertebra and confirmed tuberculous spondylitis with histologic finding from a surgical specimen. Following the administration of anti-tuberculosis medication(isoniazid, rifampin, pyraziamide, ethambutol) and radical excision, patient`s symptom and sign were improved. The patient is maintaining dialysis with anti-tuberculosis medication for 5 months.

본 과제에서는 참여기업인 두산인프라코어(구 대우종합기계)에서 양산중인 국산디젤엔진을 개조해 가스엔진을 제작하였으며, 두산인프라코어에서 500시간 내구시험을 2차례 실시하였고, 주관기관인 한국기계연구원에서 국산 ECU를 활용하여 도시가스를 연료로 실험을 수행한 후 김포매립지에서 현장 적용실험을 수행하였다. 메탄농도가 46sim56%로 변하는 조건에서 350kW의 출력을 달성하였으며, 삼원촉매를 적용한 결과 2005년 배기규제를 만족하는 결과를 도출하였다. 위탁기관인 전남대에서는 촉매 특성에 관한 실험을 1차년도와 2차년도에 수행하였다. 본 과제에서 개발한 LFG(=매립지가스) 엔진은 국내에서 개발된 최초의 LFG 엔진으로서 쓰레기 매립지 뿐만 아니라 음식물 쓰레기 혐기소화 처리과정, 분뇨나 축분 등의 혐기소화 처리과정, 하수종말 처리장 등에서 발생하는 바이오가스를 이용한 발전 동력원으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
