The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of endurance exercise program on the middle-aged women. Six subjects were recruited from among volunteers responding to advertisements placed around the university community. All subjects, with no experience in regular physical activity participated in an interventional training consisting of swimming and stretching three days a week for 10weeks. Pre-and post blood lipid levels, such as Total Cholesterol(TC), High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(HDL-C), Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(LDL-C), and Triglyceride(TG) were measured. A paired t-test showed results that were significant the .05 level were HDL-C , LDL-C, TG, and TC/HDL-C Ratio. The main finding of the study was that the role of endurance training, as prescribed in our study has the effect of making improvements in blood lipid levels for the middle-aged women. 1. After a 10week period of endurance exercise, the Total Cholesterol(TC) level was higher than that of pre-test. But the difference no showed the statistical significance. 2. After a 10week period of endurance exercise, the High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(HDL-C) Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(LDL-C). Triglyceride(TG) level was higher than that of pre-test. and the difference showed the Statistical significance. In conclusion, even though there was significant in blood lipid levels after endurance exercise, swimming has a beneficial on improving in the middle-aged women.

The subacute toxicity was investigated in Sprague-Dawley rats orally treated with KDRD-010 at the doses of 0.056, 0.28, and 1.4 g/㎏ for one month. There were no clinical signs and pathological changes compared with control group. Body weights were not significantly changed between control and treatment groups. In hematological and biochemical serum parameters, all mean values appear to be within the normal range. In pathological examinations, hemorrhages of lung was observed in one male rat at low dose group and one female rat at high dose group of KDRD-010, but it was not considered to be caused by KDRD-010. These results suggest that KDRD-010 dose not induce any significant subacute oral toxicities in Sprague-Dawley rats.

We researched nitrogen and green manure yield of crotalaria by seeding rate; 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 kg $ha^{-1}$ in upland soil to find out crotalaria's optimal seeding rate. Crotalaria's plant height and number of leaves increased when the harvest time was later regardless of its seeding rate. Its nitrogen content of above-ground part was 19.8 g $ha^{-1}$, and C/N ratio was 22.5. The highest nitrogen content (50.3 g $ha^{-1}$) was found in flowers part, followed by its leaves, roots and stems. The green manure yields of crotalaria increased when the harvest time was later. The green manure yield of crotalaria was biggest in 50kg $ha^{-1}$ which was low in seeding rate. It tended to decrease when the seeding rate was higher, and the nitrogen yield had the same tendency. Therefore, the appropriate seeding rate was 50kg $ha^{-1}$ and the time for application to soil was considered to be the flowering stage.
A Study on the Circumferential Groove Effects on the Minimum Oil Film Thickness in Engine Bearings

This paper presents the effects of circumferential groove on the minimum oil film thickness in engine bearings. The fluid film pressures are calculated by using the infinitely short bearing theory for the convenience of analysis. Journal locus analysis is performed by using the mobility method. A comparison of minimum oil film thickness of grooved and ungrooved bearing is presented. It is found that circumferential $360^{\circ}$ groove only reduces the absolute magnitude of the oil film thickness, but $180^{\circ}$ half groove affects the shape of film thickness curve and position of minimum oil film thickness.

The 13 major blast resistance(R) genes against Magnaporthe grisea were screened in a number of Korean rice varieties using molecular markers. Of the 98 rice varieties tested, 28 were found to contain the Pia gene originating from Japanese japonica rice genotypes. The Pib gene from BL1 and BL7 was incorporated into 39 Korean japonica varieties, whereas this same gene from the IRRI-bred indica varieties was detected in all Tongil-type varieties. We also found that 17 of the japonica varieties contained the Pii gene. The Pii gene in Korean rice varieties originates from the Korean japonica variety Nongbaeg, and Japanese japonica varieties Hitomebore, Inabawase, and Todorokiwase. The Pi5 gene, which clusters with Pii on chromosome 9, was identified only in Taebaeg. Thirty-four varieties were found to contain alleles of the resistance gene Pita or Pita-2. The Pita gene in japonica varieties was found to be inherited from the Japanese japonica genotype Shimokita, and the Pita-2 gene was from Fuji280 and Sadominori. Seventeen japonica and one Tongil-type varieties contained the Piz gene, which in the japonica varieties originates from Fukuhikari and 54BC-68. The Piz-t gene contained in three Tongil-type varieties was derived from IRRI-bred indica rice varieties. The Pi9(t) gene locus that is present in Korean japonica and Tongil-type varieties was not inherited from the original Pi9 gene from wild rice Oryza minuta. The Pik-multiple allele genes Pik, Pik-m, and Pik-p were identified in 24 of the varieties tested. In addition, the Pit gene inherited from the indica rice K59 strain was not found in any of the Korean japonica or Tongil-type varieties tested.

In order to evaluating physiochemical properties of soil under minimum tillage and direct seeding cultivation on dry rice paddy, we conducted to analyze the soil physiochemical characteristics in treatment with 2-year minimum tillage and dry direct seeding (2MT), 3-year minimum tillage and dry direct seeding (3MT), and tillage transplanting cultivation (TT). As results of analyzing soil organic matter (OM) contents with 2 cm soil depth of interval from surface to 30 cm, OM contents with surface soil from 0 to 2MT and 3MT were higher than TT, recorded 34.6, 28.1 and 19.8 g kg<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively. But until 20cm in soil depth, it was not so large on the deviation of OM contents among the 3 treatments comparing with 2cm surface. Beneath 20 cm in soil depths, 2- and 3-year, OM contents in TT were distributed to be lower than 2MT and 3MT. The contents of total nitrogen in 2MT and 3MT were higher than the content in TT across the soil profile. Consequently, though minimum tillage and direct seeding farming is obviously the practice to saving of machinery work and labor, other practices such as continuously input OM should be needed to achieve carbon sequestration goal through minimum tillage and direct seeding on dry paddy.
