액막을 이용하여 지방산이 포함된 폐수로부터 지방산 분리를 시도하였다. 가스크로마토그래피와 폐수의 지방산 농도 측정 방법을 통하여 다양한 조건에서의 액막의 분리속도를 관측하였다. 분리과정 중 액막의 안정성에 필요한 계면활성제의 최적농도를 실험을 통하여 결정하고 지방산 분리 속도에 대한 여러 실험적 조건의 영향을 살펴보았다. 이들 결과에서 지방산을 폐수로부터 효과적으로 분리하는 방법이 가능함을 알 수 있다.

Microstructures in the directionally solidified duplex stainless steels were investigated in order to understand the effect of nitrogen addition. It was found that the addition of nitrogen causes formation of fine precipitates in a matrix and segregation phases of nitrogen in the α/γ interface. Both the fine precipitates and the segregation phases were identified CrN(fcc, a=4.16A˚), which has the coherent phase relationship with bcc α matrix of (200) CrN // (0 1 ̄ 1) α and (1 ̄1 ̄ 1) CrN // ( 3 ̄ 2 ̄ 1) α.

Locoregional recurrence is the most common type of recurrence in surgical operation of gastric adenocarcinoma, and peritoneal dissemination is one of the most difficult problems in advanced gastric adenocarcinoma treatment. Because the peritoneal cavity is the most common site of the first recurrence after gastric cancer resection, intraperitoneal chemotherapy seems a logical choice for cancer chemotherapy. In this study, Mitomycin C (MMC)-activated charcoal (CH)-alginate (ALG) beads were prepared by the mixtures of CH particles adsorbed with MMC as an anti-cancer drug and aqueous alginate solution. The alginate is recognized as biodegradable, nontoxic, and biocompatible. The release of MMC from the beads in 0.1 M Tris buffer was stable and continuous until about 1 week. The MMC-CH-ALG beads can be applied in the peritoneal cavity for intraperitoneal chemotherapy since they provide a good adhesiveness on the tissue and controlled release pattern of the drugs.

Purpose: Papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) is increasing in incidence because of ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cyology (FNA). According to WHO, PTMC is defined as a papillary thyroid cancer of 1 cm or less in diameter. Within the group of patients with PTMC, prognosis is known to be very favorable. This study was carried out to evaluate the clinicohistological characteristics of PTMC and to determine a reasonable extent of surgery for them. Methods: From Mar. 2002 to Dec. 2007, 610 patients with thyroid diseases underwent thyroidectomy at Chosun University hospital. Among these patients, 205 patients (33%) had a thyroid papillary carcinoma less than or equal to 1 cm in great diameter. The clinicopathologic features and treatment outcome of these patients were evaluated retrospectively. Results: In the period 2002-2007, PTMC incidence rate in our institution increased from 10% to 20%. There were 19 men and 186 women with a median age of 46 years (range; 16-74). PTMC diameter ranged from 0.1 to 1 cm. (mean 0.54 cm) 15.7% of patients with PTMC presented with preoperative symptoms (palpable mass, fatigue, pain, hoarseness). Preoperatively 84.3% of these 205 cases were diagnosed by ultrasonography. We performed unilateral lobectomy (41%), near total thyroidectomy (44%), and total thyroidectomy (11%) with or without central compartment neck node dissection. During a mean follow-up of 36 months, 5 patients (2.4%) developed locoregional recurrence with no distant metastasis. There were no significant difference on recurrence rate by size, capsular invasion. But multiplicity of primary tumor has a higher locoregional recurrence rate (p= 0.04). The detection rate of PTMC is increasing due to FNA technique in our hospital. This study shows that PTMC may have capsular invasion, lymph node involvement, multiplicity and locoregional recurrence likely to larger (>1 cm) papillary carcinoma. Conclusion: We suggest that total or near total thyroidectomy with central compartment neck dissection is proper therapeutic operation for PTMC and modified neck dissection shoud be performed if lateral neck lymph node are enlarged or diagnosed as metastatic tumor.

This paper presents the problem related to the rotational vibration in the steering wheel of a passenger car during high speed driving. In order to analyze the vibration of steering wheel, the lateral slips by the camber angle and the steering angle of road wheel are considered and the longitudinal slips are assumed to be zero. The responses of steering system due to unbalances and the phase difference between two unbalance masses are considered as two important characteristics in the vehicle steering system in this study. The model of steering system has as many as eleven degrees of freedom, from which the responses of vibrational acceleration in the steering wheel with regard to the vehicle velocity are obtained. As a result, it is founded that the vibrational acceleration is proportional to the unbalance mass and the phase difference.

An improved retinal tack can be used to fix the retina in complicated retinal detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We used the retinal tack made by biodegradable polyglycolic acid, polylactic acid and copolymers. The tacks with polyglycolic acid were placed in the retina the right eyes of 10 rabbits as group 1, with polylactic-polyglycolic acid copolymers as group 2 in each left eyes. We examined the absorption rates and degree of intraocular inflammation at 1 day, 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks and compared both eyes. The tacks were absorbed with time in both eyes, but more rapid in copolymers. And there was no inflammation in both eyes. Now, this study will be a base on the drug delivery system in intraocular pharmacological and surgical management.

ABS 수지의 가공특성을 체계적으로 이해하기 위하여 수지의 유변특성을 살펴보았다 ABS의 분자 파라미터들이 유변물성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 특히 그라프트율이 유변물성에 미치는 영향을 자세히 살펴보았다. 그라프트율이 증가하면서 장시간 완화시간 영역의 저장모듈러스는 감소하다가 약 50-60%근처에서 최소값을 가진 후 다시 증가하는 모습을 보이는 데, 이러한 변화는 ORDER가 바뀔 정도로 큰 수준이었으며, 최소값 근처에서의 변화폭이 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이와 관련된 유변물성의 변화를 설명하였으며, 이러한 유변물성의 차이가 가공안정성, 유동성, 이형성 등 가공상의 다양한 현상에 영향을 준다는 것을 선명하였다. 또한 모듈러스가 최소가 되는 그라프트율 근처에서는 점탄성의 변동이 심하여 생산 시 품질 변통의 폭이 커져 품질 불안정을 야기할 가능성이 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 향후 ABS수지의 최적화를 위하여 이와 같은 연구가 반드시 수행되어야 한다는 점을 지적하였으며, 본 연구는 향후 ABS의 최적 분자설계를 위한 기반을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
Ti-6Al-4Fe-0.5Si 합금에서 Ti-Si 석출과 베타상의 방위관계

This study examined the effect of Si addition in (α+β) Ti alloy on the phase stability about the Ti silicide precipitation from b matrix. The changes in the volume fraction and shape of precipitates with different Si contents were correlated with the tensile properties of the present alloys based on the detailed TEM micrographic observation. In Ti-6Al-4Fe-0.5Si alloy, the precipitates with rectangular or round shape were found at inter-grain of α/β interface and intra-grain of β phase. The precipitates were generally known as Ti5Si₃ with enough stabilizing thermo-mechanically. However, in this study, a new type silicide of Ti_(5)Si₄was mostly observed in the as-cast specimens, representing the metastable or unstable state phase thermo-mechanically compared to Ti_(5)Si₃. It was consistent with the phase transformation processes of TiSi₂TiSiTi_(5)Si₄Ti5Si₃ in the ternary alloy system of Ti-Al-Si. The improvement of mechanical properties including high temperature ones was to be induced by the fine precipitation of Ti silicides such as Ti5Si₄ and Ti5Si₃ in the ductile matrix of b phase. The precipitates of Ti_(5)Si₄ (P1) and Ti_(5)Si₃ (P2) have a coherent relationship with bcc β matrix of (200)_(β) //(220)_(P1) //(2111)_(P2) and (011)_(β) //(001)_(P1)//(0110)_(P2).
