Assessment of concrete macrocrack depth using infrared thermography

Cracks are common defects in concrete structures. Thus far, crack inspection has been manually performed using the contact inspection method. This manpower-dependent method inevitably increases the cost and work hours. Various noncontact studies have been conducted to overcome such difficulties. However, previous studies have focused on developing a methodology for non-contact inspection or local quantitative detection of crack width or length on concrete surfaces. However, crack depth can affect the safety of concrete structures. In particular, although macrocrack depth is structurally fatal, it is difficult to find it with the existing method. Therefore, an experimental investigation based on non-contact infrared thermography and multivariate machine learning was performed in this study to estimate the hidden macrocrack depth. To consider practical applications for inspection, an experiment was conducted that considered the simulated piloting of an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with infrared thermography equipment. The crack depths (10–60 mm) were comparatively evaluated using linear regression, gradient boosting, and random forest (AI regression methods).

목 적 : 최근에 정신질환자의 인권에 대한 관심은 비단 정신과 영역뿐 아니라 다른 영역에서도 크게 증가하고 있다.본 연구는 2014년도에 홍창희 등에 의해 개발되었던 정신질환자 인권지표(IHM)의 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하기 위해 시도되었다. 방 법 : IHM을 263명의 국립나주병원 입원환자를 대상으로 실시하여, 신뢰도를 내적일치도로 검증하고, 타당도를 탐색적 요인 분석과 모형 적합성을 통해 검증하였다. 결 과 : 탐색적 요인 분석 결과 “인간 존엄성을 추구할 권리”, “입·퇴원 과정에 대한 알 권리”, “입원 및 병동 생활에서의 투명성”, “치료 과정을 알 권리와 자기 결정권”, “사생활 보호”, “치료 환경”, “위생과 건강”의 7개 요인이 선택되었다. 문항의 내적 일치도는 우수하였다(Cronbach’s alpha=.68~.88). 확인적 요인분석에서 RMSEA값으로 본 7요인 모형의 타당도는 적합하였다. 결 론 : 본 연구를 통해 기존에 보고되었던 IHM 척도의 타당도가 개선되어 향후 정신과 영역에서 이를 좀 더 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Objective : Recently the human right of people with mental illness has been focused not only in the field of psychiatric practices but also in other areas such as regulatory organizations. The purpose of this study was to test the validity and reliability of questionnaire for the Indicator of Human Rights of People with Mental Illness (IHM) that was designed to assess for them (Hong et al., 2014). Methods : IHM was administered to 263 inpatients in a national psychiatric hospital. Reliability of IHM was tested by internal consistency and validity was tested by exploratory factor analysis and a fitness of the modified model. Results : The Exploratory factor analysis revealed 7 factors : 1) Right to human dignity, 2) Right to know about admission & discharge process, 3) Transparency for admission & hospital life, 4) Right to know about treatment and right to self-determination, 5) Privacy, 6) Treatment setting, and 7) Hygiene & Health. The internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha was excellent (Cronbach’s alpha=.68-.88). The validity of seven factor structure based on confirmatory factory analysis was verified as root mean square error of approximation that was proved as significant. Conclusion : Based on results of confirmatory factor analysis, the validity and utility of the revised IHM was increased. Also, it may be useful to apply to the patients who have mental illnesses.

<P>We report on the multi-dimensional alignment of pentacene molecules on a poly(methyl methacrylate)-based photosensitive polymer (PMMA-polymer) and its effect on the electrical performance of the pentacene-based field-effect transistor (FET). Pentacene molecules are shown to be preferentially aligned on the linearly polarized ultraviolet (LPUV)-exposed PMMA-polymer layer, which is contrast to an isotropic alignment on the bare PMMA-polymer layer. Multi-dimensional alignment of pentacene molecules in the film could be achieved by adjusting the direction of LPUV exposed to the PMMA-polymer. The control of pentacene molecular alignment is found to be promising for the field-effect mobility enhancement in the pentacene FET.</P>
