      • 200m 수영 경기의 기록향상을 위한 훈련방안에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this paper is to provide elementary data for the adequate program by comparing and analying the intensity of training during the contest and training. The subject is composed of eight(8) swimmers who are participating in the training program in Taejon City. The results of the experiments are as follows: (1) The training for the 200m crawl and back stroke must be done in different ways (2) The personal differences of the athletes must be considered when the training for the contests are being conducted. (3) The must influential factor for the crawl and back stroke contest is the training of 150m. and for the other distances intensified trainings are needed. (4) More than six(6) times of repetitive trainings are necessary for the crawl and eight times for the back stroke and the more intensified training is needed for the training less the eight times in back stroke.

      • 혼합규칙 변화에 따른 포화탄화수소 혼합물의 물성예측 비교

        A comparison is made of the mixture and vapor-liquid equilibrium predictions for n-paraffin hydrocarbon mixtures between the improved Bishnoi-Robinson mixing rules(I. B-R MR) and the modified van der Waals one-fluid mixing rules(M.vdW 1F MR). The equations of state employed are the Midified Benedict-Webb-Rubin(MBWR) and its dimensionless form, referred to herein as Benedict-Webb-Rubin-Starling(BWRS). The results show that the modified van der Waals one-fluid mixing rules predict all the systems studied here except methane-n-heptane system more accurately than the other mixing rules. However, both mixing rules predict with increasing deviations for highly dissimilar molecular sizes.

      • 전신성 홍반성 낭창의 임상적 고찰

        The epidemiology, diagnostic criteria, clinical features, symptoms and signs laboratory findings, kidney pathology, and clinicopathologic correlation of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) were analyzed. The 63 patients studied were managed at the Department of Internal medicine, CNUH, from January 1983 to December 1997. Kidney biopsy was performed in 53 patients out of 63 patients with SLE. The results were as follows: 1. The ratio of male to female was 1:26. They were 12 to 71 years old and mean age was 32.1 years old. The peak age incidence was 4th decades(30%). 2. The most frequent chief complaint on admission was generalized edema. Most patients complain two or more symptoms. 3. Immunologic and renal disorders were the most frequently observed in the ARA criteria of SLE. And the positive ANA, hematologic disorder, malar rash, and arthritis, were observed in order of frequency. 4. Among the 53 patients with renal biopsy, 30 patients revealed class Ⅳ lupus nephritis(56%), class II in 12 patients(23%), class V in 8 patients(15%) and class III in 2 patients(6%). 5. The cases of lupus nephritis represented as nephrotic syndrome were high in the class IV with 68% and class V with 86%. 6. Of 30 patients who can be followed up, 5 patients resulted in death(17 % of mortality). They "were 14 to 57 years old and mean age was 28 years old. Follow up duration were from 1 month to 6 years and 3 months, and mean duration was 1 year and 1 month, but 3 cases 7. The causes of death were as follows: Two cases were due to seizure and coma resulted from CNS involvement. One was sepsis due to miliary the & pneumonia. One was dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure due to cardiac ac involvement. And the other one was sepsis and acute renal failure resulted from cellulitis. 8. Prednisolone was used in all patients basically, and methyl-prednisolone pulse therapy, antimalarials and alkylating agents were used in some cases. In the cases of combined therapy, the activity of SLE was well controlled.

      • 성인 급성 신부전의 원인 및 예후인자 분석

        Acute renal failure is a frequent complication in hospitalized patients and is strongly related to the mortality. The Clinical outcome and prognostic factors of acute renal failure(ARF) have been analyzed by many authors. The present study describes the etiologic and clinical aspects, as well as other factors related to mortality. All the patients suffering from acute renal failure admitted during the period of January 1993 - August 1998 were included in the study. The average age of the patients was 52±17 years and mortality rate was 24%. The causes of acute renal failure were hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS), sepsis, renal hypoperfusion, urinary tract obstruction, acute tubular necrosis, etc. The etiology of ARF was a significant prognostic factor on mortality in ARF. Other significant prognostic factors were oliguria, organ failure, use of vasoconstrictors, hypotension, serum bicarbonate, premorbid conditions, sepsis, neurologic complications, gastrointestinal bleeding. On the other hands, operation, sex, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia, BUN, serum creatinine, and hyperkalemia were not significant factors for the mortality. We conclude that major prognostic factors of acute renal failure arc premorbid conditions, sepsis and multiorgan failure, and they are responsible for persistent high mortality of acute renal failure despite of advances of medical care.

        Dietary Exposure to Transgenic Rice Expressing the Spider Silk Protein Fibroin Reduces Blood Glucose Levels in Diabetic Mice: The Potential Role of Insulin Receptor Substrate-1 Phosphorylation in Adipocytes

        Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by insulin resistance (IR). T2DM is correlated with obesity and most T2DM medications have been developed for enhancing insulin sensitivity. Silk protein fibroin (SPF) from spiders has been suggested as an attractive biomaterial for medical purposes. We generated transgenic rice (TR) expressing SPF and fed it to diabetic BKS.Cg-m+/+Leprdb mice to monitor the changes in blood glucose levels and adipose tissue proteins associated with energy metabolism and insulin signaling. In the present study, the adipocyte size in abdominal fat in TR-SPF-fed mice was remarkably smaller than that of the control. Whereas the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-activated protein kinase and insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) protein levels were increased in abdominal adipose tissues after TR-SPF feeding, levels of six-transmembrane protein of prostate 2 (STAMP2) proteins decreased. Phosphorylation of AMPK at threonine 172 and IRS1 at serine 307 and tyrosine 632 were both increased in adipose tissues from TR-SPFfed mice. Increased expression and phosphorylation of IRS1 at both serine 307 and tyrosine 632 in adipose tissues indicated that adipocytes obtained from abdominal fat in TR-SPF-fed mice were more susceptible to insulin signaling than that of the control. STAMP2 protein levels decreased in adipose tissues from TR-SPF-fed mice, indicating that STAMP2 proteins were reducing adipocytes that were undergoing lipolysis. Taken together, this study showed that TR-SPF was effective in reducing blood glucose levels in diabetic mice and that concurrent lipolysis in abdominal adipocytes was associated with alterations of AMPK, IRS1, and STAMP2. Increased IRS1 expression and its phosphorylation by TR-SFP were considered to be particularly important in the induction of lipolysis in adipocytes, as well as in reducing blood glucose levels in this animal model.

        In this study, we proposed a residential load modeling method based on neuro-fuzzy inference system by considering of various harmonics. The developed method was implemented by using harmonic information, fundamental frequency and voltage which are essential input factors in conventional method. Thus, the proposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. To show the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with a conventional method based on neural networks.

        주거용 부하에 대한 고조파 영향 분석 및 개선된 부하모델 개발

        In this study, we developed RBFN(Radial Basis Function Networks) based load modeling method with harmonic components. The developed method considers harmonic information as well as fundamental frequency and voltage considered as essential factors in conventional method. Thus, the proposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. RBFN has some advantage such as simple structure and rapid computation ability compared with multi-layer perceptorn which is extensively applied for load modeling. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with conventional methods such as polynomial method, MLPN and RBFN with no harmonic components.

        Determinants of Basal Collaterals in Moyamoya Disease: Clinical and Genetic Factors

        <P>Background/Aims: To enable the diagnosis of moyamoya disease (MMD), detection of distal internal carotid artery stenosis and hazy network of basal collaterals (BCs) are required. This study aimed at evaluating the factors that could determine the degree of BCs in patients with angiographically confirmed MMD. Methods: We analyzed 146 consecutive patients with MMD (age 26.2 +/- 19.6, range 1-75). The degree of BCs (%) was measured based on conventional angiography. Factors associated with the degree of BCs, including clinico-radiological and genetic factors (p.Arg4810Lys variant), were analyzed. Results:The degree of BCs varied among MMD patients and significantly decreased with an increase in the age of diagnosis of MMD (coefficient -1.55; p < 0.001). Although the degree of BC development depends on the MMD stage (Suzuki stage), it is less prominent in adult-onset (>18 years) MMD compared to childhood MMD. The presence of p.Arg4810Lys variant, types of MMD (bilateral vs. uni-lateral) and stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic, or asymptomatic), shrinkage (outer diameter) of intracranial vessels, external carotid collateral status, and cortical neovascularization were not associated with the degree of BCs. Conclusion: Although prominent BCs are required for diagnosis of MMD, BCs are decreased with aging, suggesting that angiogenic capacity is altered in adult onset MMD compared to childhood MMD.         우리나라 정보통신 관련 정부조직의 문제점과 개편방안

        1994년 정보통신부의 발족과 더불어 기대되었던 정보통신 관련 정부기능의 통합성은 여전히 미약하다. 또한 21세기를 앞두고 정보화는 국가발전의 최우선 정책과제이며, 이를 추진하기 위한 추동력이 만들어져야 하는데 현재의 정부조직 체계로 볼 때 이 점이 미흡하다. 이 글은 먼저 정보통신 관련 정부조직의 당면 문제점으로서 정보화 사업에 있어서 기획 및 조정기능의 취약성, 정보통신 관련 계획간의 연계성 부족, 정보통신 관련 법·제도 개선기능의 취약, 개별 부처수준에서 정보화 촉진기구의 취약성, 정보통신 정책영역에 있어서의 지나친 단편화 현상, 그리고 통신·방송의 융합에 대비한 조직적 대응 태세의 미흡을 지적하였다. 이러한 문제점의 개선을 위해서는 거시적 조정체제의 구축과 정보통신 관련 기능분담의 수평적 재분배가 시급하다고 보고, 조직개편 방안으로서 정보통신부를 정보통신원으로 격상시키는 안과 청와대에 정보통신수석실을 두는 안을 제시하였다. 첫번째의 정보통신원은 부총리급기관으로서 정보통신산업 관련 장관회의를 주재하고 정보화 예산의 우선 심의권을 부여받음으로써 명실상부한 정보통신 관련 정책의 기획, 추진 및 조정기관으로 기능하는 것이다. 둘째의 정 보통신수석실은 정보화 및 정보통신 문제에 대해 대통령을 자문하고 조정기능을 수행하며, 정보통신자문회의를 통해 전문성의 확보와 민간부문의 참여를 조장할 수 있다. 이상 두 개의 안은 공히 통신과 방송기능의 융합과 각 부처에 국장급 정보화책임자를 두는 내용을 포함하고 있다.
