        Neural Changes Associated with Emotion Processing in Children Experiencing Peer Rejection: A Functional MRI Study

        This study was performed to investigate differences between children who did and did notexperience peer rejection in psychological state through surveys and in emotion processingduring an interpersonal stress challenge task to reflect naturalistic interpersonal face-tofacerelationships. A total of 20 right-handed children, 10 to 12 yr of age, completed selfratingquestionnaires inquiring about peer rejection in school, depression, and anxiety. They then underwent an interpersonal stress challenge task simulating conditions ofemotional stress, in reaction to positive, negative and neutral facial expression stimuli,using interpersonal feedbacks, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI) for ananalysis of neural correlates during the task. Ten were the peer-rejection group, whereasthe remainder were the control group. Based on the behavioral results, the peer-rejectiongroup exhibited elevated levels of depression, state anxiety, trait anxiety and social anxietyas compared to the control group. The FMRI results revealed that the peer-rejection groupexhibited greater and remarkably more extensive activation of brain regions encompassingthe amygdala, orbitofrontal cortex and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex in response tonegative feedback stimuli of emotional faces. The different brain reactivities characterizingemotion processing during interpersonal relationships may be present between childrenwho do and do not experience peer rejection.

        특징추출을 위한 특이값 분할법의 응용

        The design of a pattern recognition system generally involves the three aspects: preprocessing, feature extraction, and decision making. Among them, a feature extraction method determines an appropriate subspace of dimensionality in the original feature space of dimensionality so that it can reduce the complexity of the system and help to improve successful recognition rates. Linear transforms, such as principal component analysis, factor analysis, and linear discriminant analysis have been widely used in pattern recognition for feature extraction. This paper shows that singular value decomposition (SVD) can be applied usefully in feature extraction stage of pattern recognition. As an application, a remote sensing problem is applied to verify the usefulness of SVD. The experimental result indicates that the feature extraction using SVD can improve the recognition rate about 25% compared with that of PCA. 패턴인식 시스템은 일반적으로 데이터의 전처리, 특징 추출, 학습단계의 과정을 거쳐서 개발되어 진다. 그중에서도 특징 추출 과정은 다차원 공간을 가진 입력 데이터의 복잡도를 줄여서 다음 단계인 학습단계에서 계산 복잡도와 인식률을 향상시키는 역할을 한다. 패턴인식에서 특징 추출 기법으로써 principal component analysis, factor analysis, linear discriminant analysis 같은 방법들이 널리 사용되어져 왔다. 이 논문에서는 singular value decomposition (SVD) 방법이 패턴인식 시스템의 특징 추출과정에 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 보인다. 특징 추출단계에서 SVD 기법의 유용성을 검증하기 위하여 원격탐사 응용에 적용하였는데, 실험결과는 널리 쓰이는 PCA 에 비해 약 25% 의 인식률의 향상을 가져온다는 것을 알 수 있다.

        소유역 및 미계측 유역의 설계홍수량 산정시 Thiessen망의 부적절한 이용에 따른 문제점 및 해결방안 연구

        Thiessen method has widely been used to estimate areal rainfall on a basin. However, Thiessen method contains some problems by improper use in practice. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the estimated design flood from Thiessen method on a small or ungaged basin and how the selection or the usage of Thiessen method affects estimating the design flood. Furthermore, we widely searched existing cases whose design flood were estimated with Thiessen method. Among those cases, we selected the cases that might be problematic on the watershed division using the Thiessen method. In order to assess the effect of Thiessen method in estimating design flood, we employed the standard process suggested by the national flood design manual as follows: (1) selecting a weather station that has long record length and is close to an interested watershed; (2) recalculating the design flood with the standard process. The results indicate that the estimated design flood from the standard process is different from the flood with the Thiessen method. This difference results from the selection of the inappropriate use of multiple weather stations following to the theory of the Thiessen method. Finally, the current study advocates the standard design flood estimation process using a single station is better than the inappropriate use of Thiessen method. In addition, when selecting a single weather station, we prioritize the station with long record length and high credibility, which is generally run by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Thiessen방법은 유역의 면적 강우량을 산정하기 위해 광범위하게 사용되고 있는데 중·소유역 또는 미계측 유역에 적절한 고려없이 무분별하게 사용되고 있어 문제가 발생되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 Thiessen망 사용에 따른 정밀한 연구가 무엇보다 필요한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구를 통하여 소유역 및 미계측 유역을 대상으로 Thiessen망 이용시 관측소 선정에 따른 홍수량의 차이를 분석하고, 이에 따라 어떠한 문제가 발생할 수 있는지 분석하였다. 기존 소유역 및 미계측 유역 중 Thiessen방법을 적용하여 홍수량을 산정한 사례를 전반적으로 조사하였다. 이중에서 Thiessen망 사용으로 유역이 분할되어 홍수량산정에 문제가 될 수 있는 하천들을 연구 대상지점으로 선정하였다. 부적절한 Thiessen망 산정이 홍수량 산정에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 신뢰성있고 가장 실설계에 많이 사용되고 있는 다음의 방법으로 홍수량을 재산정하였다. 먼저, 관측소 선정에 있어서 관측년도가 길고 유역과 가장 가까운 기상청 관할의 관측소를 선정하고 홍수량 산정요령에 따라 홍수량을 재 산정 하였다. 본 연구로부터 나온 결과에서, 산정된 홍수량은 기존의 Thiessen망을 통하여 산정된 홍수량과 차이를 보였고, 이는 Thiessen다각형 이론에 위배되는 관측소 선정이 원인으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 여러 관측소의 강우자료를 Thiessen망을 통하여 산정하는 부적절한 산정법을 신뢰성있는 단일지점의 강우량 산정법으로 적절한 홍수량이 산정할 것을 제시하였다. 더불어, 단일지점의 선택시 관측년도가 길고 강우자료의 신뢰도가 높은 기상청 관할 관측소의 강우자료를 우선적으로 사용할 것을 제시하였다.

        Adenolipoma of the Skin Arising at Neck Region

        We report here a case of adenolipoma of the skin, an unusual variant of lipoma, arising on the neck. A 56-year-old man visited our hospital due to an anterior neck mass. An excisional biopsy was performed. The mass revealed a tan-yellow soft cut surface. We could not find any difference from other lipoma on gross inspection. Microscopically, the mass showed proliferation of mature adipocytes admixed with several eccrine units. The eccrine units were demonstrated by periodic acid-Schiff-positive granules in the secretory portions and by positivity of smooth muscle actin in the myoepithelial cells surrounding the eccrine glands. The tumor was completely excised, and the patient has been followed up without any evidence of recurrence so far.

        조지프 캠벨(Joseph Campbell)과 크리스토퍼 보글러 (Christopher Vogler)의 ‘영웅의 여정(Hero’s Journey)’에 따른 <원천강본풀이> 서사 구성요소 분석

        This study is focused on Jeju Island's shamanistic myth, <Woncheongang Bonpuri> of (Bong-Chun.Park), as a heroic myth that is gaining public sympathy without the emergence and conflict of opponents. The main character, “Oneuri”'s journey has a similar structure that of a hero, so we applied both of Joseph Campbell, Christopher Vogler’s ‘Hero’s Journey’ to analyze <Woncheongang Bonpuri>. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is that it is necessary to analyze the story at the same time with Campbell’s and Vogler’s models when analyze myth from various angles. The Campbell’s model is able to identify the meaning of the trial, described by the narrative structure and components of the myth. The Vogler’s model can identify the components of narratives needed to make content. As a result of the analysis, analysis through Campbell’s model was able to derive elements, gain of acquisition of divinity in the ‘Apotheosis’ stage. Analysis through the Vogler’s model was able to derive elements of the collaborator in the ‘TESTS, ALLIES, ENEMIES’ stage. Story of the Oneuri to realize her parent’s love, was connected to acquisition of divinity. And story of supporting characters who taught way to Woncheongang, was derived ally. Especialy, it could be seen sympothetic components that the acquisition of divinity as an narrative’s catharsis, the ally as mutual help. As the analysis, this study has the following significance. first, analysis results turn up that the two models were different as a result. Second, from analysis results in Campbell's model, identity was derived from acquisition of divinity, and in Vogler's model, mutual help was derived from ally. At this time, identity was judged a empathetic component that could induce empathy for people, mutual help was judged a educational component that emphasized altruism. These contents disprove that components embedded in the same myth can be extracted differently depending on the analysis frame. Finally, this study is meaningful in that the analysis results emphasize the necessity of narrative analysis needed before the discussion of reinterpretation and make contents of myth.
