This paper is a study on novels which dealt with Japanese who came to Korea through “The East Colonization Company”(동척), which took the lead in land plundering. Korean novels in Japanese rule era described “동척” as an important subject matter. That is , it reflected that because of “동척”, farmers ruined and all races shook up. Land plundering of “동척” was because Japanese wanted to migrate to Korea. Korean novels shows a lot of resistance consciousness to those Japanese strongly. There were only a few works due to severe inspection and suppression. However, the works show criticism and resistance about colonial reality strongly. This paper investigated how these criticism and resistance were.

현경준은 1930년대 후반에 왕성한 문학 활동을 했다. 그의 소설은 크게 식민지시기 국내 현실을 배경으로 한 것과 만주 유이민 현실을 배경으로 한 것으로 구분된다. 지금까지의 연구는 대부분 만주 유이민 소설 연구에 집중돼 있다. 국내 배경의 소설 연구는 거의 제대로 이루어지지 않았으며 몇몇 연구들도 불완전하기 그지없다. 이 점에서 본 연구는 현경준의 작품 활동 초기에 주로 발표된 국내 배경의 소설들을 집중적으로 조명해 냈다는 데 큰 의의가 있다. 연구 결과 현경준의 초기소설들은 대단히 탄탄한 주제의식을 특징으로 하고 있었다. 주된 시대적 배경을 이루고 있는 1930년 후반의 문학적 상황을 염두에 둘 때 이는 결코 가벼이 보아 넘길 수 없는 중요한 가치와 의의를 지닌 것으로 판단된다. 그는 「격랑」, 「출범」 등의 어민소설을 통해서는 어민사회의 해체양상을 적극적으로 형상해 내었고, 「귀향」이나 「탁류」 등에서는 카프 맹원 검거사건 이후 나타난 진보적 지식인들의 전향현실을 문제삼기도 했다. 또한 「향약촌」에서는 일제가 주도한 기만적인 `농촌진흥정책`을 정면에서 시비하기도 했다. 이같은 일련의 문학적 소산은 작가의 탁월한 현실인식과 공고한 역사의식에서 비롯된 것이라고 볼 수 있다. Hyun Kyung-jun did an energetic literary activity in the late 1930s. His novels are mainly divided into two different works: one is based on the domestic reality during colonial era and the other is based on migration reality in Manju. Until now most of the studies were focused on Manju migration novels of his. Studies on novels of the domestic setting of Hyuns were not done well and even some studies were not enough. From this point of view, this study has an important meaning in investigating on the domestic setting novels on the early Hyun Kyung-jun`s career. As a result of the study, Hyun Kyung-jun`s early novels were featured on very solid thematic consciousness. Late 1930s were very strong on censorship and suppression of Japanese empire. Giving that Hyun Kyung-jun`s novels have a very significant value and meaning. He described actively the dissolution aspects of fishing society through his fishery novels such as "Kyukrang", "Chulbum" and so on. In "Guihyang", "Takryu" etc. are issued on converted reality of radical literates after arresting a member of KAPF. In "Hyangakchon" he protested Japanese deceptive "Rural development policy" as well. Such literate products are formed by his outstanding reality idea and strong historical consciousness.
