        남한의 지역간, 계절간 강수량의 특성

        Interstational and interseasonal analyses of the correlation and variability in the seasonal and annual precipitation for 10 basic synoptic stations in South Korea, on the basis of rainfall record of over 40 years, are carried out. It is found that the climatic regions of precipitation could be classified by means of the interstational analysis for the correlations. Corrleation coefficients in interstational relationship of precipitation are lowest in autumn which characterizeds a strong locality while the highest value shows a relatively weak locality in winter. Interseasonal relationship between summer and winter precipitation shows mostly 10 percent significant level with all positive values. The magnitude of the variation coefficients are appeared to be in the order of winter, autumn, spring and summer. It is shown that the highest which is winter ranges between 0.33 0.58, and for the lowest summer, 0.26-0.44, respectively in the areal distribution of the coefficient. The secular changes of the variation coefficient in the recent trend show increases in spring at two station; Seoul and Incheon, in summer at Busan and in autumn at two stations; Busan and Incheon while in winter show devreases at the whole stations. An annual variation seems to show generally a constant trend as whole for all the stations.

        Study on the Heavy Metal Concentration in Mussels and Oysters from the Korean Coastal Waters

        1985-1989년간 한국연안의 서로 다른 서식지로부터 채집된 진주담치 Mytilus edulis와 굴 Crassostrea gigas중의 중금속 농도를 알아보았다. 두이매패류에서 가장 높은 중금속농도는 조사점 1, 2, 5, 23 그리고 25에서 발견되었던 반면 가장 낮은 중금속농도는 진해만 주위의 조사점에서 발견되었다. 5개년간 굴과 진주담치의 평균중금속농도비는 Cu 16:1, Cd 1.63:1, Pb 1.36:1, Zn 7.61:1 그리고 Hg 2.08:1로서 굴이 진주담치보다 Cu, Zn, Hg에서 보다 효과적인 생물농축자로 나타났다. 진주담치의 크기별 분포는 크기가 클수록 중금속농도도 증가하였다. This study dealt with the concentration of heavy metals in mussels, Mylitus edulis and oysters, Crassostrea gigas, in different habitats around the Korean coastal waters during 1985-1989. The high levels of heavy metal concentration in two bivalves were found at Station 1, 2, 5, 23 and 25, while the low levels were found at stations in Chinhae Bay. Oysters were more effective bioaccumulators of Cu, Zn and Hg than mussels showing the ratios of 16:1 for Cu, 1.63:1 for Cd, 1.36:1 for Pb, 7.61:1 for Zn and 2.08:1 for Hg. The larger mussels were, the higher the concentrations of five metals.

        황토의 유해성 적조생물 Cochiodinium종의 제거효과

        황토에 의한 Cochlodinium 종의 제거효과실험을 실내와 현장조사를 통하여 실시하였다. 실내실험은 Cochiodinium 적조생물을 배양하여 황토 및 이를 산처리로 활성화시켜 살포농도를 $2\;g/\ell$에서 $10\lg/\ell$로하여 제거효율을 조사하였다. 황토의 적조생물제 거효과는 살포농도 $2\;g/\ell$에서 $43\%$, $6\;g/\iota$에서 $64\%$로 점차 향상되기 시작하여 $10g/{\ell}$에서는 살포 60분후 $88\%$의 제거효과를 나타냈다. 현장조사는 Cochlodinium 적조가 빈발한 통영 활목-오비도해역에서 1996년 9월에 2회 실시되었다. 황토살포 전후로 해서 실시된 조사에서도 역시 황토살포 30분후에 Cochlodinium 적조생물이 $72\~83\%$가 제거됨으로써 좋은 제거효과를 나타냈다. 수질인자중 수온과 pH는 살포전후 변화가 없었으나 용존산소, 화학적산소요구량 및 클로로필 a의 농도는 다소 감소하였고 부유물질은 증가하였다. 부영양화 인자중 용존무기인은 살포전후 농도변화가 없는 반면, 용존무기질소는 살포후가 살포전에 비해 다소 감소하였다. 따라서 황토살포는 $10\;g/{\ell}$전후로 살포하는 것이 적조생물 제거효과에 바람직하며 수질에도 큰 영향이 없는 것으로 조사되었다. The clay and yellow loess have capability to adsorb and precipitate particles. The removal efficiencyes of those flocculents on the dinoflagellate, Cochlodinium polykrikoides, have been studied in laboratory and in field near Tongyong fish farm in September, 1996. The removal efficiencyes in the laboratory experiment was $43\%$ for $2\;g/{\ell}$, $64\%$ for $6g/{\ell}$ and $88\%$ for $10\;g/{\ell}$ in one hour after dispersion. No big difference of removal efficiency was found between the raw and the acid-activated loess. In the field survey, the removal rates ranged from 72 to $80\%$ in 30 min after the dispersion. The effect of loess scattering on water quality was estimated. The concentrations of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), chemical of gen demand (COD) and chlorophyll a decreased more or less after dispersion, while the concentration of suspended solid (SS) increased. The concentrations of dissolved oxygen (DO) and dissolved inorganic phosphorous (DIP) were kept constant. These results indicated that the dispersion concentration of more than $10g/{\ell}$ has a good removal efficiency of above $80\%$ without big variation of water quality after dispersion of yellow loess.

        Contamination of Tributyltin in Sediment from Four Bays in the Southeastern Part of Korea

        Spatial and vertical variations of butyltins (BTs) were investigated in polluted sediments from Jinhae, Busan, Ulsan and Yeongil Bays located in the southeastern part of Korea. Tributyltin (TBT) as a dominant species was detected in 18 of the 20 surficial sediments, and TBT levels were lower than for those in heavily polluted areas worldwide, ranging from 12 to 766 ng Sn/g dry wt. Distribution of TBT levels among bays was not significantly different (p=0.286, ANOVA). The horizontal distributions observed at 20 sites suggests that TBT concentrations are still high in polluted sites around harbors and industrial complexes. The sedimentary records revealed that TBT inputs began to increase in the active industrial periods in Korea and reached a peak in the early 1990s in Jinhae Bay, in the mid 1980s in Ulsan Bay and in the late 1970s in Yeongil Bay except for Busan Bay which had a homogenous profile. In paricular, TBT at the surface sediments of four core samples still had high levels. From the horizontal and vertical results, it could be assumed that TBT inputs in the sediments were not reduced significantly compared to past levels. The annual accumulation rates estimated using the sedimentation rates and the concentration of surficial sediments exhibited that the accumulation rate of Ulsan Bay was greater than the rates for Jinhae and Yeongil Bays.

        Fecal sterol을 이용한 울산만과 주변해역 퇴적물내 하수기인 유기물 평가

        Surface sediments (0~4 cm) were sampled at 40 stations from Ulsan Bay and its adjacent areas of Korea, to evaluate the contamination by sewage-derived organic matters using fecal sterols. Some sterols were quantified by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Total concentrations of eight sterols (coprostanol, cholesterol. cholestanol, epicholestanol, epicoprostanol, (3-sitosterol, brassicasterol, and stigmasterol) in the sediments from Ulsan Bay and its vicinity varied from 929 to 23.444 ng/g dry weight. The most predominant sterols were cholesterol and coprostanol, accounting for 33~72% of total sterols. The concentration of coprostanol known as the indicator of human feces ranged from 141 to 8,257 ng/g dry weight. In particular, the coprostanol concentrations in the sediments from Jansaengpo Harbor and Taehwa River exceeded the value of 1,000 ng/g dry weight. suggesting that these areas could be considered as the hot-spot zones by municipal sewage contamination. Some molecular indices and multivariate data analysis were used to assess the origin of these sterols in the sediments. Results showed that the major routes of sewage contamination in Ulsan Bay and its vicinity were the input through Jansaengpo Harbor and Taehwa River.

        Monitoring of Some Chlorobenzenes in Marine Sediments and Bivalves from Several Coastal Regions of Korea

        Marine sediments and bivalves were sampled at 20 stations from coastal regions of Korea, to investigate the levels and patterns of some chlorobenzene isomers. Total chlorobenzenes were in the range of 0.32-3.55ng/g dry weight in marine sediments and 0.26-0.84ng/g wet weight in bivalves. Hexachlorobenzene levels in marine sediments and bivalves were lower than or comparable to those levels of reported in other countries. Isomeric patterns of some chlorobenzenes in marine sediments and bivalves were slightly different. However, the pre- dominant isomer in marine sediments and bivalves was 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene. Hexachloro- benzene contribution to total concentrations was higher in sediments than in bivalves.
