        영어독해 수업에서 문법의 역할 및 교수 방법: 한국 대학생들의 인식을 중심으로

        The present study investigated college students’ perception of and attitude toward the role of grammar and effective grammar instruction in a reading class in Korea. A questionnaire composed of twenty-seven close-ended questions and four open-ended questions was used to collect data from ninety-nine university students. The data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings of the study showed that: 1) the participants found grammar study stressful, tedious, and difficult, while recognizing it was important for improvement of their overall English proficiency; 2) students were not confident in their grammatical competence; 3) they felt that grammatical knowledge facilitated L2 reading comprehension; 4) they preferred the use of inductive grammar instruction in reading classes as they believed that the inductive approach allowed them to participate in the learning process actively by discovering rules by themselves, which they considered conducive to long-term memory; and 5) the participants expressed their distaste for the meaning-deprived, rote learning of grammar, hoping to study the subject with ample examples and opportunities to use their grammatical knowledge in actual communication situations instead. This study draws attention to the importance of context-embedded and production-oriented grammar instruction in reading classes. (Yonsei University)

        초등학교 영어과 최소성취기준 적용 연구

        This research aims to apply the minimal achievement standards for elementary school English based on the 2015 revised national curriculum. The researchers conducted a comprehensive review of relevant literature, including foreign cases and domestic studies, on basic learning capability assessment. Based on the theoretical foundation, development direction, and development guidelines, we developed a draft of the example assessment questionnaires that focus on the minimal achievement standards of four language skills for sixth graders. We then refined the draft with consideration for the connection between the curriculum and the minimal achievement standards, the level of learners, and the feasibility of implementing it in the classrooms. The final draft was developed through an expert verification process. This study is expected to serve as a practical guide for developing basic learning capability assessment questionnaires based on the revised 2022 national curriculum.

        College students’ perceptions of online learning: A study on learners’ satisfaction and experiences in online general English course

        목적 본 연구에서는 한국의 EFL 대학생 학습자들의 비대면 수업에 대한 경험과 만족도를 기반으로 온라인 학습에 대한 인식을 살펴보았다. 방법 이를 위하여 교양 영어 교과목을 비대면으로 경험한 대학생 111명을 대상으로 총 22개의 폐쇄형 및 개방형 질문 항목들이 포함된 설문 조사를 진행하였다. 설문 자료를 바탕으로 온라인 학습에 대한 연구 참여자들의 만족도를 조사하기 위해 SPSS 프로그램을 이용하여 기술 통계 분석을 실시하였고, 온라인 학습에 대한 경험은 학습자들의 서술 문항 응답을 정독한 후 주제 별로 분석하였다. 결과 학습자들은 온라인 학습에 대해 대체로 만족하는 경향을 보여주었으며, 특히 실시간 수업이나 실시간 수업 및 비실시간 수업이 결합된 강의보다는 교수자가 녹화한 영상 강의에 대한 만족도가 높았다. 그리고 ‘교수자 중심 강의’에 대한 만족도가 높은데 비해 ‘협동학습’과 ‘동료 피드백 활동’에 대한 만족도는 상대적으로 낮았다. 또한 수업에 대한 접근성, 유연성, 반복 학습의 가능성을 온라인 학습의 장점으로 인식하고 있는 반면, 기술적 문제, 의사소통 문제, 즉각적인 피드백의 부족 등을 단점으로 인식하고 있었다. 결론 온라인 학습에 대한 학습자들의 경험과 만족도 분석 결과를 바탕으로 향후 대학생들을 위한 효과적인 교양영어 교수법과 추후 관련 분야 연구에 대한 방향을 제시하였다. Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of Korean EFL college learners toward online learning based on their level of satisfaction as well as their experiences of online learning. Methods A total of 111 college students who enrolled in online general English course were asked to complete a survey including 22 closed- and open-ended questions. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted using the IBM SPSS statistical package to examine learners' satisfaction with online classes. Regarding responses of participants’ experiences on online learning, all the narrative data was examined and divided into themes that emerged in the data. Results The findings showed that learners were generally satisfied with online learning and in particular, they were highly satisfied with pre-recorded video lectures than synchronous classes or combined classes. In addition, the level of satisfaction on ‘teacher-centered lectures’ was high, and those of ‘cooperative learning’ and ‘peer feedback activities’ were relatively low. Furthermore, students recognized accessibility, flexibility, and the possibility of repetitive learning as advantages of online learning while perceiving technical problems, communication with others, and lack of immediate feedback as disadvantages of online learning. Conclusions Based on the findings, discussion and suggestions on effective teaching methods and activities for online classes were presented.

        키워드 네트워크 분석을 활용한 제임스 조이스 텍스트 연구 동향 분석: 2003~2022년도까지 『제임스 조이스 저널』에 게재된 논문을 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to examine trends in research on James Joyce’s work while identifying the characteristics of keywords between two periods (2003-2012 and 2013-2022) and relations among the research keywords. In order to achieve the research goal, the current study conducted a keyword network analysis of the articles published in James Joyce Journal for 20 years. The data were collected using a Biblio data collector, and the English titles, keywords, and abstracts of a total of 283 papers were analyzed using the data-mining software, Netminer4. Then, the data were divided by time period, and the frequency of occurrence of keywords was analyzed and visualized as a word cloud. In addition, in order to identify the relationship between keywords, the analysis was conducted based on the degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality. The results showed that first, the most studied work in the last 20 years is Ulysses, followed by Dubliners and Finnegans Wake. Relatively little research has been done on A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Next, unlike the 2003-2012 period, ‘paralysis’ and ‘epiphany’, the most critical terms used to describe Dubliners, appeared more often in the 2013-2022 period. Moreover, the results of the centrality analysis revealed that in the 2003-2012 period, the words ‘Ulysses’, ‘Ireland’, and ‘Stephen’ were found to play the most central role, and in the 2013-2022 period, the words ‘character’, ‘Dubliners’, and ‘Ulysses’ played the most central role. Interestingly, the word ‘character’, which appeared in a similarly high frequency in both periods, showed relatively weak centrality in the former period, but showed the highest centrality in the latter period. Finally, the word ‘Ireland’ was ranked the second highest in centrality between the 2003-2012 period; however, it showed remarkably low centrality in the 2013-2022 period. This study is meaningful in that, unlike the previous analysis method, it examined the research trends of James Joyce’s texts through a keyword network analysis.

        수능영어 절대평가 정책에 대한 학습자 인식 연구 ―2018학년도 수능 수험생을 중심으로

        The present study investigated students' perceptions of the new criterion-referenced assessment on the English section of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). A total of 285 college freshmen, who took the 2018 CSAT, completed a questionnaire comprised of eighteen close-ended questions and four open-ended questions. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed to answer the research questions. The results of the study showed that, overall, students tended to think favorably of the new policy since it has alleviated the excessive pressure to achieve high scores in English, which in turn has motivated them to set their own learning goals and made self-directed learning possible. However, students with negative attitudes remarked that the new policy has rendered English worthless on the CSAT, causing them to put little emphasis on studying English. Moreover, the new policy was negatively perceived by students who are good at English because they could no longer leverage their superior English skills to excel compared to others at the CSAT. Students who were neutral expressed their skepticism about the much-expected change this new policy was supposed to bring to the current educational setting, mainly because it was the scoring system that was modified, not the content of evaluation. The results further indicated that high school English classrooms are still dominated by rote learning of grammar rules and reading practice, with a heavy emphasis on CSAT preparation. We argue that the new policy needs careful readjustment in order for it to be successfully implemented, thus achieving the goal of normalizing public education and creating communicative classrooms in secondary schools in Korea.

        『율리시스』에 드러난 셰익스피어: 찬탈자와 약화된 남성성을 중심으로

        James Joyce, as a writer in the British colony of Ireland, critically interprets Shakespeare and his work in Ulysses. He refers to Shakespeare, either commenting directly on Shakespeare in text or citing different characters’ dialogues in Shakespeare’s work. Joyce presents critical consciousness of Shakespeare and British imperialism in the context of quoting Shakespeare’s work. First of all, in the “Telemachus” episode, Joyce deals with Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” and “Macbeth” as the motif of usurpation. The situation in Ireland, which is a British colony, can be linked to Hamlet deprived of the throne. Lady Macbeth’s guilt is also connected to the guilt of the British. In addition, in the “Scylla and Charybdis” episode, Stephen Daedalus interprets Shakespeare as an element of personal history, shaking Shakespeare’s canonicity, while other characters view Shakespeare as a great writer. Finally, in the “Circe” episode, Joyce recreates Shakespeare as an aging man who has been abandoned by his wife, not as a great British writer. Masculinity is closely related to imperialism, and Joyce criticizes British imperialism in a way that makes a mockery of Shakespeare’s masculinity.

        영화를 활용한 융합인재교육 프로그램이 초등과학영재의 창의적 인성, 창의적 문제해결력 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향

        본 연구에서는 초등과학영재를 위하여 영화를 매개체로 하는 융합인재교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 교육현장에 적용하여 초등과학영재들의 창의적 문제해결력과 창의적 인성, 그리고 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였으며 그 연구 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 영화를 활용한 융합인재교육 프로그램은 초등과학영재의 창의적 인성 향상에 효과적이었으며, 특히 인내/집착, 자기확신, 유머감, 호기심, 상상, 개방성, 모험심, 독립심 영역에 있어서 그 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영화를 활용한 융합인재교육 프로그램은 초등과학영재의 창의적 문제해결력 향상에 효과적이었으며, 특히 실험계획세우기, 창의적 문제해결력 영역에 있어서 그 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 영화를 활용한 융합인재교육 프로그램은 초등과학 영재의 과학적 태도 향상에 효과적이었으며, 특히 호기심, 개방성, 비판성, 협동성, 자진성, 끈기성, 창의성 영역에 있어서 그 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과로 볼 때, 영화를 활용한 융합인 재교육 프로그램은 초등학교 과학영재학생들의 창의적 인성, 창의적 문제해결력, 과학적 태도 향상에 효과적이라고 볼 수 있다. This research aimed at developing STEAM Program with the medium of films for scientific talents in elementary schools and examining its influence on the problem solving ability, creative personality, and scientific attitude. The results were as follows: First, the STEAM program using movies was proved to be effective in forming creative personality, and a significant difference was found especially in the areas of patience/obsession, self conviction, sense of humor, curiosity, imagination, openness, adventurous spirit, and spirit of independence(p<.05). Second, the STEAM program using movies was found to be a successful way to improve their problem solving ability, and in particular, the difference was significant in the areas of planning an experiment and creative problem solving ability(p<.05). Third, the program was also found to be effective for the enhancement in their scientific attitude, and the difference, particularly in the areas of curiosity, openness, criticism, cooperation, spontaneity, patience, creativity and scientific attitude, was significant(p<.05). The study results above indicated that the STEAM program using movies was an efficacious way in forming creative personality, and enhancing creative problem solving ability and scientific attitude.

      • 스테레오정합을 이용한 물체의 3D 모델링과 깊이정보 추출에 관한 연구

        본 논문에서는 스테레오 카메라로 입력된 영상을 3차원 모델링과 깊이정보 추출과 계측알고리즘을 제안하였다. 본 알고리즘은 스테레오 카메라에서 얻어진 2개의 영상으로부터 에지검출을 하고, 특이점들을 추출한다, 이로부터 좌·우 영상간의 대응점을 찾아서 정합시킨다. 영상정합시에 발생되는 폐색영역(occlusion region), 윤곽선잡음(boundary noise) 및 모호성(ambiguity)과 같은 오차성분을 제안한 알고리즘으로 오차를 줄일 수 있다. 실험 결과, 물체의 3차원 정합은 안정적인 정합을 보였으나 정밀한 부분은 1.97%이상의 오차가 발생하였고 전체구간에 대해서는 평균 1.308% 오차가 발생하였다. 이는 입력된 영상들에 대한 폐색, 잡음과 같은 오류성분으로 판단된다. 개선 방법으로 더 많은 각도에서 획득한 영상을 이용함으로써 해결할 수 있으리라 판단된다. In this paper, it is intended to be measured by extracting depth data and three-dimensional modeling of objects about images acquired from stereo cameras. In this algorithm, the edge detection is performed from the two images obtained by stereo cameras, then the features in the two images are extracted. The corresponding points are searched and matched from the left and right images. The proposed algorithm can be reduced the error components such as occluded region, boundary noise and ambiguity of the image feature points occurring when the two images are matched each other. In experimental results, 3D matching was stabilized. But, the errors occurred on detail parts by more than 1.97% and entire domain by 1.308% on the average. It determined to be occluded region, noises from camera images. It will be improved as many as images obtained from various angles.
