The purpose of this study is to analyze the writing tasks included in the newly developed high school English textbooks in the aspects of genre, rhetorical structure, task type, and authenticity in order to find out whether these tasks could contribute to improving Korean EFL students' writing skills. A total of nine textbooks were selected for the study and every writing task in each textbook was analyzed. The results show that various types of genres were incorporated in the tasks, but very few opportunities were provided for students to acquire characteristics of specific genres. In terms of rhetorical structure of text, narration, illustration, and transaction were required most, whereas not a single writing task asked students to use classification or cause and effect. Many of the writing tasks analyzed offered linguistic and/or content support through the use of models, which displays traces of the product-based approach to teaching writing. Lastly, most of the tasks lacked authenticity represented by explicit discussion of purpose and audience. Implications for L2 writing task development and writing instruction in the Korean EFL context are discussed.

Due to the Saemangeum lake created by the completion of the sea dike in 2006, its water qualities have been urgently required to be monitored. Therefore the comprehensive monitoring, intensive parameter analysis, and optimum management strategies on the lake have been sought. Surveys have been executed during 2008~2009. The most distinct pattern of water quality in the lake was high nutrient concentrations at the river mouth and gradual decrease to the dike. And fluvial impact are greatest during the rainy summer season, and shrunk during the winter. The objectives of the investigation are monitoring on the present status of water qualities of the lake and establishment of counter-measures to minimize the environmental impact, especially on the water.
국어과 디지털 교과서 개발을 위한 초등 교사의 요구 분석

This study aimed to establish the direction for developing digital Korean textbooks for elementary school and preemptively understand the necessity of increasing the subjects’ adoption of digital textbooks. The study multilaterally analyzed the demand of teachers and agents using digital textbooks in the field and examined the major functions that digital Korean textbooks should be equipped with. As a result, Chapter II of this study explored digital textbook research and discussed the necessity of presenting the directions for development and the main functions that should be incorporated in digital Korean textbooks by the sub-domain of Korean. Chapter III outlined the focus group interview conducted with teachers working in the field, using common questions about digital elementary school Korean textbooks and both general and specific questions on the sub-domain of Korean. A total of 12 teachers participated in focus group interviews with 3 teachers in a group and they discussed about ‘elements of consideration for developing digital elementary school Korean textbooks’, ‘functions demanded in digital elementary school Korean textbooks’, ‘direction and functions demanded by sub-domains of Korean’, and ‘implementation plans for digital textbooks by representative unit’. In Chapter Ⅳ, the study categorized the teachers’ opinions from the interview through an inductive procedure like ‘open coding→category formation→abstraction’ and presented detailed contents about each category. In the conclusion, this study presented functions of ‘viewer domains’ and ‘content domains’ that must be taken into consideration when realizing digital elementary school Korean textbooks. The discussion of this study is significant, in that it analyzed the needs of agents of education and suggested the directions and essential functions to be considered in developing elementary school digital Korean textbooks.

We could quantitatively evaluate the role of factors controlling the temporal variation of nutrient concentrations in a saline lake recently constructed by tideland reclamation using multivariate statistical techniques. Factors affecting water quality were identified from factor analysis and their contributions to the concentrations of nutrient species were estimated based on multiple linear regression analysis. The objectives of the investigation are monitoring on the present status of water qualities of the lake and establishment of counter-measures to minimize the environmental impacts, especially on the water qualities. From the factor-analysis to identify the key parameters on the water qualities, fresh-water input and biological activities are the most important factors on the surface water qualities, but in addition to the fluvial water, underground water should be considered as another important factor on the bottom water quality.
현직 중등 영어 교사들의 ‘중등학교 영어교사 자격기준’에 관한 의견 조사

The purpose of this study is to investigate English teachers' perspectives on the newly announced professional teaching standards for secondary school English teachers. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 114 secondary school English teachers. The results showed that teachers in general approved the new standards. In particular, their approval rates were higher for the standards for English language abilities and pedagogical skills than other areas. No statistically significant differences were found among different groups of teachers (i.e., male vs. female, middle vs. hish school, and novice vs. veteran teachers) in their opinions of the standards. Implications for teacher education, teacher evaluation and future research are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which the Middle School English Listening Test utilizes the communicative functions presented in the 2015 national curriculum. The test is the only nationwide English test that assesses all the middle school students in Korea except those under the jurisdiction of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. To achieve the goal, an analysis was conducted on the use of communicative functions in the dialogues included in the tests administered in September 2022 and April 2023. A total of 1258 T-units were extracted from 100 dialogues, and then each unit was compared with the expressions exemplifying different types of communicative functions provided in the national curriculum. The results showed that the ‘exchanging information’ function was used most, which was followed by ‘persuading and making suggestions’ and ‘expressing one’s will’. However, some of the functions such as ‘repairing communication’ and ‘expressing knowledge, memory, and assurance’ were rarely used. In addition, there was some inconsistency in the use of communicative functions in different grades. Pedagogical implications and future directions for developing a more balanced English listening test are discussed.
≪신편교정서상기(新編校正西廂記)≫의 판화적 특징(特徵)과 도문관계 재분석

The New Revised Edition of Xixiangji (新編校正西廂記), the illustrated edition of the first book was discovered in four fragmented pages (殘葉), which made it difficult to determine the exact content and publication information. Regarding the time of publication, scholars agreed that it was during the years of Chenghua (1457-1464) when Shuochang Cihuaben (說唱詞話集) was published and earlier than the Hongzhiben (弘治本). However, scholars’ opinions were divided several opinions on the publication venue. Examination of both the textual and the illustration areas revealed that The New Revised Edition of Xixiangji is the one with the most original form close to editions published during the Yuan period among all the existing editions. In terms of the style of the illustrations, it preserves the style of Yuan-era engravings, which makes the edition one of the most precious copies closest to the original form of Xixiangji. Regarding the time and venue of publication, the style of the illustrations in The New Revised Edition of Xixiangji is diachronically linked with Quanxiang Pinghua Wuzhong (全相平話五種) Jianan print (建安版画) of the Yuan Dynasty, Shuochang Cihuaben in the early Ming Dynasty, and the Jianan edition (建安本) of Xixiangji of the mid-Ming period. Thus, it cannot be ruled out that it may have been published in Jianan Yeongsun publisher. The text-image relations of The New Revised Edition of Xixiangji are ‘parallel’ placement relationship and ‘imitation and response’ content relationship.

This study is an empirical basic data to lay the foundation for fulfilling a role in a better environment by specifically exploring the stress and exhaustion experienced by mental health social workers at the job site and examining the power to perform their duties. In securing. The study participants were mental health social workers with more than 2 years experience in providing mental health services, totaling 7 people. As a result of the analysis, a total of 185 sentences, 64 generalized sentences, 20 sub-themes, and 8 themes were categorized. It was derived as an essential topic of the study. As a result of the study, mental health social workers have not been able to find their own rights and interests, and they themselves struggle to provide and maintain services in an unstable employment environment, and they have limitations that cannot be sufficiently provided because the policies and services they intend to provide are not properly equipped. He was speaking out for the mentally ill in order to realize his knowledge and values. It is hoped that these studies will help mental health social workers improve their jobs.
