Leukemia is a malignancy affecting the WBCs of the bone marrow. Leukemia is classified as either acute or chronic, and classification is essential since there are important differences in response to treatment of the various types of leukemia. The etiology of the leukemia is unknown. For accurate diagnosis, several laboratory studies, including CBC, PBS, BM biopsy, immunophenotyping, chromosome analysis, are necessary. Dentists have become increasingly interested in leukemia, because the oral complications are common throughout the clinical course of the disease, dental management is complex, and the mouth is a potential source of morbidity and mortality. Because oral signs and symptoms are common, the dentist may be the first clinician to suspect the disease. A case of leukemia presenting as facial infection is described with literature review.

Most popular incisions for open reduction of mandibular condylar fractures are submandibular approach, preauricular apporach, Risdon approach, and retromandibular approach etc. These methods are selected according to the location of condylar fracutre, condylar segments displacement, and preference of the surgeon. We performed the open reduction and rigid fixation by means of retromandibular approach for the treatment of mandibular condyle fracture in the 9 patients (8 cases were performed by direct reduction and rigid fixaction, and 1 case was performed by Dr. Nam s method). The retromandibular approach has many advantages. This is more easier approach to the fracture site, better visibility and accessibility, less wound exposure, less muscle retraction, and more comfortable to patient because lesser sensory and motor nerve injury.

Aneurysmal bone cyst is a benign lesion of bone consisting of a septated, cystic cavity filled with non-endothelium-lined, blood-filled spaces. As it grows, expanding and destroying the affected part of the bone by direct compression, the lesion characteristically produces a prominent bulging of the affected bone, which eventually erodes the overlying cortex. Patients rarely complain of pain unless the cyst affects adjacent nerves or its expasion is great enough to impinge on the surrounding joints and soft tissue. Teeth adjacent to the cyst may be displaced, but usually remain vital. Development of the lesion in the craniofacial region is rare, and the mandible is more often affected than the maxilla. Complete surgical excision is used to treat aneurysmal bone cyst, with either curettage or composite resection. This is a case report of 49 years old female with aneurysmal bone cyst treated with surgical excision & DFDB graft.

Human Dura mater treated by various processes was used to restore small periodontal defects, large bony defects for improvement of new bone formation, and soft tissue defects and replace the disc of TMJ, etc.. Tutoplast Dura is the solvent-preserved Human Dura mater and sterilized by gamma radiation. In our department, Tutoplast Dura was implanted in 32 patients, from 1994, 6 to 1995, 7. We implanted the Tutoplast Dura at 11 various cysts, 6 implantations, 4 fractures, 3 clefts, 2 TMJ disease, 2 maxillary sinusitis, etc.. We performed the retrospective study about the purpose of Tutoplast Dura implantation, postoperative complication and histologic examination of biopsy specimen at implant second surgery.

Oroantral fistula(OAF) is relatively common occurrence in our clinical situation. There are many causes of fistula, and the method of fistula closure is variable. It may be the result of pathologic entities such as noma, syphilitic gummas, leprosy, or secondary to the sequelae of radiation therapy, removal of tumors or cysts of the palate or antrum, trauma, or even minor surgery. The extraction of maxillary posterior teeth, however, is the most common cause of oroantral fistula. Although the treatment is mainly dependent on operator's preference. It is generally determined by its size, presence of inflammation, concommitant disease, amount of adjacent available tissue, prosthetic consideration, and so on. We had treated OAF with pedicled buccal fat pad graft, and favorable result was obtained.

Deep burns of the face & lips often lead to scarring and contraction of the circum-oral tissues with a marked reduction in the size of the oral aperture. Such burns most commonly caused by electrical contact, for example, children sucking electric plugs, or as a result of chemical burns and the exposture to flame. Once having burns, burned tissue may contract and reduce considerably the size and mobility of the mouth ; therefore bring up the resultant functional disturbance, verbal difficulty, even disgestive difficulty, and poor appearance, which fall into difficulty in social acceptability, caused by burns. In our department, 2 patients who were complain of functional limitations and esthetic problem owing to scar contracture, were visited, and we treated this microstomia with scar excision, graft and flap technique, and postoperative intensive physical therapy. We obtained relatively favorable results, thus report this cases with literature review.

The maxillary posterior edentulous region presents more challenging conditions in implant dentistry than any other region o the jaws. However, treatment modalities designed specifically for this area allow it to be as predictable as any intraoral region. Most noteworthy are sinus lift to increase available bone height, modified surgical and treatment approaches related to bone density, and progressive bone loading during the prosthodontic reconstruction.
