In this paper, the overall media-related system that will be the central element of multi-media data model is designed on the base of object-oriented concept. First, the media is defined. Secondly, each representation media such as text, graphic, audio, image, and video is designed as a separate class. Thirdly, operations and operating mechanism of presentation media in the case of input and output are suggested comprehensively through the class schema and message-transmitting protocol. Finally, for this process, the presentation media is included as one of those classes of data model in order to retain device independency.
Vol.8 No.5
Policy-Based Network Management (PBNM) architecture is to meet various needs of network users and to provide effective management facilities in distributed and large scale networks to network managers. In PBNM, network managers perform network management operations by stipulating a set of rules rather than control each network component. On the other hand, providing security services such as authentication, privacy of messages as well as a new flexible and extensible administration framework, SNMPv3 enables network managers to monitor and control the operation of network components more secure way than ever before. Despite of its enhanced security services, SNMPv3 has difficulties in managing distributed, large-scaled network because it does not provide centralized security management facilities. In this paper, we propose a new security model called Role-based Security Management model (RSM) with security management policy to support scalable and centralized security management for SNMP-based networks. Also, the structure and the operation of the security system as well as the efficiency analysis of RSM in terms of security management are also described.

The existing relational database system has the following weaknesses. Firstly, because of its semantic ambiguities, it cannot represent clearly the database schema. Secondly, its limitations in representing complex meanings of real world make it not suitable for the design of database that becomes more complicated with the development of communication network. Thirdly, because of its difficulty in expansion, the relational database system is not suitable for an effective management of explosively increasing data according to the varied demand for user service. Fourthly, with the large-sized and high-integrated capacity, the amount of data is increasing in geometric progression. The more varied the demand for user service, the more varied the kind of data to suffice that. The limited functions of the existing relational database system cannot meet this demand. Therefore, researches on the off-line database, the distributed database and the real-time database are needed and these systems should be constructed based on the object-oriented database that is easy to expand and convenient to maintain and to repair. This paper considers the real-time database, the distributed database, and the object-oriented database systems for the database system expansion based on the relational database system. For the realization of the object-oriented database system based on the relational database system, we make researches on the basic characteristics of the object-oriented database system, and make suggestions on the object-oriented approaches for the relational database system expansion. Finally, we analyze and propose necessities for its realization in general.

Stool examination is believed to be the most reliable method for detecting Clonorchis sinensis (CS) eggs. However, it has limited value for diagnosing clonorchiasis when the biliary tract is obstructed or when there is a light infection. We evaluated the infection states of CS in patients with biliary tract diseases using a bile sample. From January 2001 to August 2003, 238 patients who had undergone endoscopic biliary drainage were prospectively included in the study. The patients' bile samples were obtained directly from the nasobiliary drainage tube and then analyzed to detect CS eggs. The overall CS egg positive rate was 28.2% (35.4% in males, 19.4% in females). The egg positive rate was similar in all age groups examined: 26.7% in 30-39 years, 25.0% in 40-49 years, 24.4% in 50-59 years, 30.2% in 60-69 years, 35.3% in 70-79 years, and 25.0% in 80 years of age and over. There were no significant differences in the egg positive rate between the disease groups: 32.6% in bile duct cancer, 38.5% in gallbladder cancer, and 26.4% in gallstone diseases. Our results show that the CS infection rate was very high, regardless of the age, gender, and type of diseases of the patients. Although the study population was limited to patients with biliary tract diseases, it is assumed that clonorchiasis is still an endemic disease in Ulsan, Korea.
Santorinicele Containing a Pancreatic Duct Stone in a Patient with Incomplete Pancreas Divisum
2004 Yonsei medical journal Vol.45 No.5
Santorinicele, a focal cystic dilatation of the distal duct of Santorini, has been suggested as a possible cause of the relative stenosis of the accessory papilla, is associated with complete pancreas divisum, which results in acute episodes of pancreatitis or pain. This report describes a case of a santorinicele, which was initially detected by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy as a polypoid mass, in a patient with recurrent abdominal pain. The mass was subsequently proved to be a santorinicele containing a pancreatic duct stone associated with incomplete pancreas divisum on endoscopic retrograde pancreatography. To the best of our knowledge this is believed to be the first description of a santorinicele associated with these characteristic findings.
