Porcine endogenous retroviruses (PERVs) integrate into germline DNA as proviral genome that enables vertical transmission from parents to their offspring. The provirus usually survives as part of the host genome rather than as an infectious agent, but may become pathogenic if it crosses species barriers. Therefore, replication-competent PERV should be controlled through selective breeding or knockout technologies. Two microRNAs (miRNAs), dual LTR1 and LTR2, were selected to inhibit the expression of PERV in primary porcine kidney cells. The inhibition efficiency of the miRNAs was compared based on their inhibition of different PERV regions, specifically long terminal repeats (LTRs), gag, pol, and env. Gene expression was quantified using real-time polymerase chain reaction and the C-type reverse transcriptase (RT) activity was determined. The messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of the PERV LTR and env regions was determined in HeLa cells co-cultured with primary porcine kidney cells. The mRNA expression of the LTR, gag, pol, and env regions of PERV was dramatically inhibited by dual miRNA from 24 to 144 h after transfection, with the highest inhibition observed for the LTR and pol regions at 120 h. Additionally, the RT activity of PERV in the co-culture experiment of porcine and human cells was reduced by 84.4% at the sixth passage. The dual LTR 1+2 miRNA efficiently silences PERV in primary porcine kidney cells.

The effects of the addition of fly ash and carbon fiber on the mechanical properties of aerated concrete were studied by varing the compositions and curing conditions. Samples were steam cured at atmospheric (90℃-5hrs.) and high pressure (175℃-5hrs.) respectively. The highest compressive and flexural strength (56, 31 ㎏/㎠) was obtained at autoclave curing condition, and optimum composition was in weight ratio of portland cement : fly ash = 55 : 45, which contained 0.4 vol.% carbon fiber. The specific gravity and thermal conductivity of cured cement in autoclave was smaller than that in atmospheric. In the case of autoclave curing (portland cement : fly ash = 55 : 45 ), hydration products were CSH and 11 Åtobermorite, which were considered to the increase of strength.
無定形 실리카(왕겨재 및 실리카 흄)를 添加한 슬래그 시멘트의 蒸氣 養生에 의한 機械的 性質

슬래그 시멘트에 무정형 실리카로서 왕겨재 및 실리카홈을 혼화재로 첨가한 조합물을 양생온도 90℃, 120℃, 양생시간 6,9,12hrs.로 변화시켜 증기양생한 경화체의 압축강도 및 미세조직을 관찰한 실험 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 슬래그 시멘트에 왕겨재 또는 실리카 홈 0,3,5,7we.% 양생 조건 120℃-6,9,12hrs. 일때 9시간 증기양생시 가장 높은 압축강도를 나타낸다. 2. 동일한 상기 조건에서 혼합재료로서 왕겨재가 실리카 홈보다 높은 압축강도를 나타낸다. 3. 왕겨재 5%첨가시 120℃-9hrs 양생조건 일때 최고 압축강도는 793kg/㎠을 나타내었다. 4. SEM 미세조직 관찰에서 최고 압축강도가 높은 왕겨재의 경우는 미세기공이 적고 조직이 치밀함을 보여주었다. The mechanical properties and SEM micrograph of portland slag cement-amorphous silica(rice husk ash and silia fume) systems were studied with various compositions. Samples were steam cured at 90 and 120℃ for 6, 9, and 12hrs., respectively. The highest compressive strength (793 kg/ ㎠) was abtained the composition in weight ratio of portland slag cement : rice husk ash = 95 : 5 at 120℃-9hr steam curing. SEM micregraphs of the specimens with 5 wt.% RHA steam curing at 120℃-9hrs were more dense than specimen with 5 wt.% SF.
치와와에서 발생한 외상적 뇌손상 증례; 연속적인 임상적 및 전산화 단층영상 소견

A dog (Chihuahua, 2-year-old, intact female) was referred to us because of cluster seizure. She had historyof falling from height few days before presentation. Brain computed tomography (CT) results demonstrated fractureline on right temporal bone and hypodense, edematous changes of the adjacent brain parenchyma on right cerebralparenchyma. Based on history, clinical signs, and diagnostic imaging findings, this patient was diagnosed to traumaticbrain injury. After diagnosis, the patient was well controlled with anti-inflammatory drug and anti-epileptic drugs. When30, 480, and 1260 days after initial brain CT examination, we performed serial brain CT rechecks. This case reportdescribes serial clinical and brain CT findings after traumatic brain injury.

본 연구에서는 재해관리 및 대응의 일환으로 재해 현장에서 필요한 정보를 효과적으로 제공하기 위해 과거 풍수해로 인한 침수피해 이력정보를 분석하여 수치영상을 이용한 침수흔적도를 구축하였다. 기존의 지형도 및 지적도를 대체하여 생성한 수치영상 기반의 침수흔적도는 침수관련 정보를 표기함에 있어 그 가능성과 활용성에 초점을 두고 향후 재해관리 업무효율성 향상 및 재해대응 능력 강화에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.
말티즈견에서 발생한 파종성혈관내응고를 동반한 거미막하 출혈 증례

An 11-year-old male Maltese dog was presented with sudden onset of convulsion and right sided circling. On neurological examination, left side proprioception and menace reflexes were delayed. Blood examinations indicatedsevere thrombocytopenia and increased hepatic enzymes. On brain magnetic resonance imaging, lesions were foundedon the left lateral subarachnoid space area. Those lesions showed hyperintense on T1-weighted images, hyperintenseon T2-weighted images and hyperintense on fluid attenuated inversion recovery images. Cerebrospinal fluid analysisrevealed xanthochromia and erythrophagocytosis. Coagulation test results demonstrated that fibrin degradation productand D-dimer concentrations were higher than normal range. The patient expired few hours after presentation. Thiscase report demonstrates intracranial hemorrhage with disseminated intravascular coagulation in a dog.
