Laryngeal chondrosarcoma is a cartilaginous malignant tumor which is rarely encountered in the head and neck. They occur most often in the paranasal sinus, mandibule, and larynx. The cricoid cartilage is the most common site of the laryngeal chondrosarcoma. Complete surgical resection and postoperative radiotherapy are generally recommended. Almost all cases of the laryngeal chondrosarcoma are detected early because of the rapid development of symptoms such as dyspnea,dysphagia and hoarseness, which are caused by the anatomic location. Authors experienced a case of laryngeal chondrosarcoma that originated from the cricoid cartilage in a 67 yearold male without any symptoms. The mass was found on a routine esophagogastroduodenoscopy examination. Hemicricoidectomy with complete excision of tumor was performed via laryngofissure approach. The patient did not undergo radiotherapy, since all margins of the resected mass were tumor-free. There was no evidence of recurrence or metastasis 12 months after surgery. 항공기 시스템이 발전하면서 이에 따른 안전성에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 추세이다. AFCS의 안전성을 만족하기 위해 이중화 AFCS 구조를 사용하고 있다. 하지만, 이중화 AFCS의 경우 오류에 대한 모호성 문제가 야기될 수 있어 이에 대한 대비책이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 AFCS 안전성을 증가하기 위해 이중화 AFCS 신뢰성 증가를 위한 구조의 필요성과 방안을 설명하였다. Due to the development of aircraft systems, the interest of the safety is also increased. Dual AFCS architecture is used to meet the safety of AFCS(Auto Flight Control System). However, dual AFCS architecture can lead to ambiguity problem and precautions against ambiguity problem are necessary. In this paper, the architecture of AFCS is explained in order to increase the safety of AFCS with redundancy.
NI Compact Rio를 이용한 FTDR 아키텍쳐 설계

NI Compact Rio는 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)를 사용하여 실시간 병렬처리를 수행할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 한국항공우주연구원에서는 병렬처리가 가능한 NI Compact Rio를 비행시험데이터 저장 장치인 FTDR(Flight Test Data Recorder)로 사용 중에 있다. 현재 비행시험에 사용되는 많은 센서들이 과거의 아날로그 타입에서 시리얼 데이터 타입으로 진화하였으며 FPGA기반의 장치에서 시리얼 데이터를 실시간으로 처리하기 위해서는 효율적인 데이터 입출력 아키텍쳐 구성이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 FPGA 기반의 장치인 Compact Rio를 이용하여 FTDR을 개발할 경우 사용되는 데이터 처리 아키텍쳐에 대해서 설명하였다. Parrel processing in real time is the most significant advantage of NI Compact Rio that is based on FPGA technology. KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) developed the FTDR(Flight Test Data Recorder) using NI Compact Rio. The output of sensors is changed from analog to serial data, so it is necessary to define data structure of input and output for the FPGA system. In this paper, architecture of data processing for FTDR based on FPGA technology is explained.

다변측정감시시스템은 TOA(Time of Arrival)를 이용하여 다수의 위성신호로부터 수신기의 위치를 찾는 GPS와 달리 표적의 신호를 지상에 설치된 여러 수신기에서 획득하여 TDOA를 계산하여 위치를 찾는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 국내에서 개발될 향후 민간항공분야에서 지상감시 장비로 중요한 역할을 담당할 공항감시 다변측정감시시스템(Local Area Multilateration System)의 시스템 구조와 이에 적용되는 체계 요구사항에 대하여 설명하였다. In this paper, a LAM system which is likely play a main role as the ground surveillance system in the civil aviation domain is presented. Also, we describe the top-level block diagram and system requirements of the LAM that would be developed in the near future in Korea.
Hypersomnia as Presenting Symptom in Wilson’s Disease

Wilson’s disease shows considerably various symptoms that sometimes timely diagnosis is delayed when patient shows vague clinical presentation. We present a female patient whose initial symptom was hypersomnia and severe fatigue. She was initially diagnosed as depression. Because initial hepatic function test was unremarkable, it was not easy to come to think about relationship between hepatic function and hypersomnia. Her final diagnosis was Wilson’s disease. This case suggested that hypersomnia otherwise unexplained could be the presenting symptom of Wilson’s disease.
Neurologists’ Awareness and Preparedness on Prion Diseases in Korea

Background: Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is very rare human prion disease. But, neurologists take a key role in diagnosis, surveillance and management of the cases because of its complexity and difficulty in diagnosis of the disease. The aim of this study is to investigate the level of awareness and preparedness of Korean neurologists on this rare disease. Methods: Survey sheets of self-administered questionnaire were given to Korean neurologists who participated in the 31st Annual Meeting of the Koran Neurological Association. Data from 133 respondents were conducted by descriptive analysis. Results: Their answers were as follows: About 62% of neurologists have experienced patients of CJD. Forty-four percent of the patients were confirmed by brain biopsy. Most of neurologists (44%) were not confident to diagnose CJD and the reason why they felt hard to diagnose was due to the variable initial clinical manifestations (45.1%) and the lack of clinical experience (51.9%). Heidenheim variant CJD, proteinase sensitive prionopathy, molecular subtypes of sporadic CJD, diagnostic criteria was not familiar term to Korean neurologists (76.7%, 53.4%,58.6% and 62.4% respectively). Opinion for the most useful diagnostic tool was brain MRI (45.1%), CSF 14-3-3 protein (30.1%), typical EEG finding (36.8%) and gene (PRNP)test (42.9%). And they consider none of them are specific for the diagnosis of CJD (89.5%, 73.7%, 83.5%,91.7%, respectively). Most of the neurologist in this survey answered that the opportunity for education of CJD should be increased (67.7%). Conclusions: Most of neurologists have encountered CJD patients although it is very rare disease. Some of the important and fundamental concepts of CJD were not correctly recognized to Korean neurologists, necessitating a persistent support for updating knowledge and information.
