Two Successfully Treated Cases of Pulmonary Fibrosis Due to Paraquat Poisoning

Paraquat poisoning can cause severe multiple organ failureinvolving the kidneys, liver, lungs, adrenals, and central nervoussystem. The toxic effect of paraquat on the lung manifestsas pulmonary edema, hypoxia, respiratory failure, andpulmonary fibrosis. However, optimal guidelines for treatmentof lung fibrosis following paraquat ingestion are not available. We experienced two cases, a 45-year-old Korean male and a66-year-old Korean male, who visited the emergency centerbecause of paraquat poisoning. They initially received methylprednisolonepulse therapy and cyclophosphamide. Thenthey experienced pulmonary fibrosis approximately 10 daysafter admission during renal recovery. Although steroid pulsetherapy with cyclophosphamide was reported to reduce mortalitydue to paraquat poisoning, the side effects of cyclophosphamidetreatment were concerning in our patients, who hadalready received cyclophosphamide. Therefore, we decidedto repeat steroid pulse therapy without cyclophosphamide. Fortunately, pulmonary fibrosis in these two patients resolvedafter repeated steroid pulse therapy. Thus, steroid pulse therapyalone could benefit patients with lung fibrosis, who havealready received steroid and cyclophosphamide treatment. Herein, we report on two cases of pulmonary fibrosis due toparaquat poisoning that were treated successfully with repeatedsteroid pulse therapy.
運動負荷와 收縮回數의 關係를 利用한 上腕二頭筋의 最大腕力推定에 관한 硏究

The purpose of this study is estimate maximum muscle strength by measuring only maximum mumber of contractions at a given load(kg) with no direct determination of maximum muscle strength in isometric. Therfore, was designed to investigate the laws of various weight-loads (P) and number of contraction(N). Subjects were 75 baseball players whose ages ranged between 18 and 23 years old. Each subject measured the maximum mumber of contractions during extension and contraction movements between 45 degrees and 110 degrees of right elbow joint angle by using arm ergometer. The rate of tempo was once every two seconds. And, In this study, the value of maximal isometric stength was applied elbow joint engle in 45 degrees. The results may be summarized as follows : 1) It was significantly that maximum number of contractions during training group was higher than that of De-training group (P<0.05). 2) In the total, it was significantly that maximum mumber of contractions during Low group of maximum muscle strength was higher than that of High group by measuring 70 to 90% Loads (P<0.01) 3) In the total, it was significantly that maximum number of contractions during High grip strength was higher than that of Low group by measuring 50% Loads(P<0.05). 4) Relationship between Load(kg) and number of contractions has shown to be well fitted to an exponential equation : N = -allP + b. On the basis of these findings, it was suggested that estimation of maximum muscle strength relationship between load and mumber of contractions brachial biceps more adequate weight-loads than relative load(%).

We succeeded in generating nanopores in a cellulose acetate (CA) matrix under water pressure using copper nitrate (Cu(NO3)2·4H2O) as the additive. The nanopores were produced when the polymer matrix was subjected to isostatic water pressure adding copper(II) nitrate into the CA membrane. The polymer chains were weakened by the plasticization effect of copper(II) nitrate present in the CA membrane. We confirmed that the pore properties were readily changed by water pressure as external physical forces with additive content. The water flux of the CA composite (CA/ Cu(NO3)2·4H2O) membrane improved with increasing water pressure and additive content. For the CA membrane without the additive, the water flux was not measured from 1 to 8 bar water pressure. In contrast, the water flow of the polymer film with the additive varied from 95.3 to 205.75 L/m2h, depending on the water pressure and additive content.

The purpose of this study was to attempt to clarify the influence of difference in intensity of movement on the timing skills. The results are as follows ; 1. Time phase in B group were longer than that in A group. And as a characteristic of movement, I found the difference on pre-movement time and pre-movement start time. 2. A group started pre-movement by Sw_2, and organized the time structure of movement. B group started pre-movement by Sw_1, and organized the time structure of movement. 3. A group had a tendency to extend Jumping time by training, B group had a tendency to extend contraction time by training.

AT is an effective mental training for athletes. The purpose of this research is to show how much a skillful adaptation of AT based on a biological index Resp, HR could possibly streamline AT. Experiment was recognized simplified AT were conducted by experiened for three times. Although there were no biological index to prove simplification from inexperienced AT athletes, it was suggested from observation that are effects of AT. However, there were evidence of simplification by experienced AT athletes. Therefore there is possibility of simplification by proper AT.

This study investigated the relationship between self-esteem, perceived competence and participation of masters swimming. Participants(N=322) were randomly selected from masters swimming program of swimming pool in seoul and Kyung-Kee. Results indicated that the meaning significant found the representation of duration of contingencies and participation of swimming competition in masters swimming. In sum, firstly, in the participation of masters swimming, every time participation in swimming competition assigned greater than the other participant to perceived competence, and in duration of contingencies of participation, 4-7 years participation group assigned greater than the order participant group to perceived competence. Secondly, in the participation of masters swimming, every time participation in swimming competition assigned greater than the other participant to self-esteem, and in duration of contingencies of participation, 2-4 years participation group assigned greater than the participant group to self-esteem. Thirdly, in the participation of masters swimming, perceived competence is postitively influence on self-esteem.
