Development of Functional Yogurts Prepared with Mulberries and Mulberry Tree Leaves

In order to develop new functional yogurts using mulberries and mulberry leaves, which were cultivated in Hwasun-gun,Jeonnam Province, Korea, the nutritional compositions, fermentation conditions, sensory properties, and storage stabilities of the yogurts were analyzed. The mulberry powder yogurt contained 87.96% moisture, 3.21% carbohydrate, 4.52% protein,3.63% lipid, and 0.68% ash, and the mulberry leaf yogurt contained 86.36% moisture, 4.13% carbohydrate, 4.87% protein,3.79% lipid, and 0.85% ash. A yogurt base was fermented for 13 h with 0.01% ABT-5 starter inoculum at 40oC. To prepare the mulberry jam and mulberry leaf yogurts, a variety of mulberry jam and mulberry leaf samples were added to the yogurt base. The sensory evaluation results of the yogurts containing the mulberry jam and mulberry leaves indicated that a product made with 15% mulberry jam was more strongly preferred than other samples. When the mulberry jam and mulberry leaf yogurts were stored at 4oC for 15 d, there were no significant changes in pH, titratable acidity, or viable cell numbers of lactic acid bacteria and Bifidobacterium bifidum.
뽕나무( Morus bombycis Koids)의 오디와 잎의 조성 특성

오디와 뽕잎을 이용하여 새로운 건강기능성 식품을 개발하기 위하여 전라남도 화순군에서 생산되고 동결건조된 원료의 영양성분들과 항산화활성을 분석, 비교하였다. 오디는 7.70%의 수분, 2.58%의 조지방, 6.55%의 단백질, 1.32%의 회분, 30.39%의 식이섬유를 포함한 81.50%의 당질을 함유하고 있었다. 한편, 뽕잎은 수분 5.86%, 조지방 1.62%, 단백질 18.74%, 회분 6.90%, 그리고 43.29%의 식이섬유를 포함한 66.88%의 당질을 함유하는 것으로 분석되었다. 오디는 100 g 당 387.0 mg의 Ca, 153.3 mg의 Mg, 1,344.0 mg의 K, 4.0 mg의 Fe, 1.7 mg의 Zn, 5.5mg의 Mn, 1.3 mg의 Na, 0.4 mg의 Cu와 274.2 mg의 P를 각각 함유하고 있었다. 한편, 뽕잎은 100 g 당 Ca 1698.0 mg, Mg 314.8 mg, K 1896.0 mg, Fe 10.0 mg, Zn 7.0 mg, Mn 6.6 mg, Na 3.2 mg, Cu 3.0 mg 그리고 P 369.8 mg을 각각 함유하는 것으로 분석되었다. 오디 100 g 당 주요 유기산 함량은 10.87 g의 구연산, 2.29 g의 사과산, 그리고 1.09 g의 호박산 등이었으며 뽕잎 100 g 중에는 구연산 0.32 g, 사과산 0.11 g, 그리고 호박산 0.07 g으로 분석되었다. 항산화활성은 오디의 경우 68.21%이었고, 뽕잎의 경우에는 58.69%로 나타났다. 시료 g 당 총 페놀함량은 오디에서 8.48 mg이었고, 뽕잎에서는 4.56 mg으로 분석되었다.

Recently, IEC published new standards about the requirements and tests for lightning protection system(LPS) components. If components are used for LPS, they should comply with the IEC standards. This paper, we collected six specimens for the metallic connection components using in domestic, and it tested for withstand lightning current which according to the IEC 62561-1. As a result, only one specimen meet this performance requirement. The specimen is the metallic connection component with four bolts fixed. Therefor, when designing of LPS in domestic, the metallic connection components shall be taken into account for the selection of the withstand lightning current. In addition, we need to develop for LPS components product and the national standards.

1980년부터 2012년까지의 전국 92개소의 기상청 기상자료를 수집하고 전국의 감자 지역적응시험 성적을 수집하였다. 이 데이터들을 활용하여 기상요소가 감자수량에 미쳤던영향을 평가하고 기상자료를 활용, 감자 수량을 예측해 보고자 하였다. 노지 무피복 재배 수미감자를 대상으로 전국17지역의 86개 지역적응시험 성적을 추출하여 해당지역의기상요소들간 상관계수를 조사한 결과, 감자의 상서수량은파종일부터 50일간의 평균기온, 최고기온 및 일교차와 고도의 상관이 나타났고, 수확 50일전부터 수확일까지의 최고기온과도 고도의 상관이 있었으며, 수확 30일전부터 10일전까지의 강수량, 상대습도, 일조시간 및 강수일수도 높은 상관이 나타났다. 이들 시기별 기상요소들과 감자 상서수량간의 관계를 통계분석 프로그램 SAS를 이용하여 단계분석(Stepwise)한 결과, 다음과 같은 감자 수량예측 모형을 얻을수 있었다.감자는 품종마다 기상에 대한 반응이 다르고, 기상 이외에도 토양, 비료, 재배방법 등 여러가지 가능한 요인들이 존재하므로 이 모형만으로 우리나라 지역별 감자수량을 정확히 예측할 수는 없겠으나, 기후변화에 적응하는 농업기술개발을 위한 지역별 감자 파종적기 재설정, 재배적지 탐색 등에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. We aimed to evaluate the effects of climatic elements on potato yield and create a model with climatic elements for estimating the potato yield, using the results of the regional adjustment tests of potato. We used 86 data of the yield data of a potato variety, Sumi, from 17 regions over 11 years. According to the results, the climatic elements showed significant level of correlation coefficient with marketable yield appeared to be almost every climatic elements except wind velocity, which was daily average air temperature (Tave), daily minimum air temperature (Tmin), daily maximum air temperature(Tmax), daily range of airtemperature (Tm-m), precipitation (Prec.), relative humidity(R.H.), sunshine hours (S.H.) and days of rain over 0.1 mm(D.R.) depending on the periods of days after planting orbefore harvest. The correlations between these climatic elementsand marketable yield of potato were stepwised using SAS, statistical program, and we selected a model to predict theyield of marketable potato, which was y = 7.820xTmax_1- 6.315xPrec_4+ 128.214xDR_8+ 91.762xDR_3+ 643.965.The correlation coefficient between the yield derived fromthe model and the real yield of marketable yield was 0.588 (DF 85).
Safflower Bud Dietary Prevents Ovariectomy-induced Osteoporosis in Rats

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) seeds have long been clinically used in Korea to promote bone formation and prevent osteoporosis. In addition, the safflower buds (SB) were found to have more useful functional ingredients than safflower seed. Thus, we investigated the preventive effects of SB diet in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. The rats were divided into five groups; sham operated group, OVX alone group, OVX plus 17β-estradiol (E2 10 ㎍/㎏, i.p.) and OVX plus SB diet feeding group (0.3% or 1%). Feeding of SB diet (0.3% or 3%) to OVX rats markedly increased trabecular formation in femur compared to OVX rats. Feeding of SB diet (0.3% or 3%) to OVX rats also decreased TRAP activity compared to OVX rats. These results suggest that SB diets have bone sparing effects by the decrease of osteoclast activity. We also observed that OVX rats fed with SB diet (0.3% or 3%) exhibited the decrease of calcium and phosphorus in serum compared to OVX-induced rats. Therefore, SB may be beneficial for the patients of osteoporosis, especially in postmenopausal women.

Korean-Automated Guideway Transit (K-AGT) was successfully developed through Light Rail System Development Project. Since then the domestic development rate of on-board signalling system of light rail has been improved up to 90% by Practical Utilization Project of Light Rail. After utilization project furthermore POSCO ICT has developed the wayside signalling system of CBTC including wireless communication equipment. KRRI carried out the performance test of the wireless communication interfacing and using the other CBTC equipments of KyungSan Test Line so as to see whether it conforms IEEE 802.11x international communication standard in view of operational concept of CBTC. In this paper we presents analysis results of roaming test while train runs.
