        The Role of NMR in the Field of Quantitative Analysis

        Although NMR technique has been using in many areas of chemistry, its merit on quantitative analysis seems not to acknowledge greatly because of the many inferior intrinsic aspects, particularly its sensitivity. Recently, new NMR techniques, high-field NMR, and demands for cutting edge techniques of analysis, however, seem to change the role of NMR spectroscopy in this field. This review shows the application of NMR development in quantitative analysis and will discuss the basic idea, limitations, and pitfalls. Then it will show you several successful applications applied in quantitative analysis and you will see how useful and accurate method it is.

        내시경 점막 절제술 및 내시경 점막하 박리술 시행 중 발생한 위장천공의 비수술적 치료

        목적: 내시경 점막 절제술(endoscopic mucosal resection, EMR) 및 내시경 점막하 박리술(endoscopic submucosal dissection, ESD)은 점막에 국한된 조기 위암 및 전암성 병변에 대하여 비교적 비침습적인 치료법으로서 현재 시행되고 있으나 출혈, 천공 등의 합병증이 생길 수 있으며 이 중 천공은 사망률, 이환율을 높일 수 있다. 따라서 저자 들은 시술 중 천공이 발생했을 경우 내시경을 이용한 클립 봉합 등의 비수술적 방법을 통한 치료의 효과 및 안전성에 대해서 평가해 보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 계명대학교 동산의료원 소화기 내과에서 2003년 2월부터 2007년 12월까지 점막을 침범한 조기 위암 및 위 선종을 가진 환자 중 EMR 또는 ESD를 시행한 482명, 507병소를 대상으로 하였고, 이 중 천공이 발생한 14예에 대해서 후향적으로 분석하였다. 결과: 총 14예에서 천공이 발생하였다(14/507, 2.8%). 천공이 발생한 환자들의 연령은 68세였으며, 병변의 크기는 평균 35.6 mm이었다. 천공이 발생한 위치는 분문부 1예, 전정부 4예였으며, 나머지 9예는 체부에서 발생하였다. 천공의 크기는 12예에서 5 mm 이하였으나, 2예에서는 크기가15 mm 이상이었다. 11예는 시술 중에 천공을 발견하여 클립 봉합을 하였으나, 3예에서는 시술 후 방사선 검사에서 천공이 발견되어 클립 봉합 없이 보존적 치료만 하였다. 보존적 치료로 금식, 정맥 내 수액 공급 및 항생제 치료(평균 5.8일)를 실시하였다. 14예 모두에서 수술적 치료 없이 증상이 호전되었고, 시술 후 평균 7.2일간 재원 후 특별한 증상 없이 퇴원하였다. 결론: 내시경 점막 절제술 및 내시경 점막하 박리술 시행 중 발생한 천공은 내시경을 이용한 즉각적인 클립 봉합 등의 비수술적 치료로 비교적 안전하게 치료될 수 있으므로 천공 발생 시 우선적으로 시행할 수 있다.

        Current Concepts and Occurrence of Epithelial Odontogenic Tumors: II. Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor Versus Ghost Cell Odontogenic Tumors Derived from Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst

        Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors (CEOTs) and ghost cell odontogenic tumors (GCOTs) are characteristic odontogenic origin epithelial tumors which produce calcifying materials from transformed epithelial tumor cells. CEOT is a benign odontogenic tumor composed of polygonal epithelial tumor cells that show retrogressive calcific changes, amyloid-like deposition, and clear cytoplasm. Differentially, GCOTs are a group of transient tumors characterized by ghost cell presence, which comprise calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (CCOT), dentinogenic ghost cell tumor (DGCT), and ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma (GCOC), all derived from calcifying odontogenic cysts (COCs). There is considerable confusion about COCs and GCOTs terminology, but these lesions can be classified as COCs or GCOTs, based on their cystic or tumorous natures, respectively. GCOTs include ameloblastomatous tumors derived from dominant odontogenic cysts classified as CCOTs, ghost cell-rich tumors producing dentinoid materials as DGCTs, and the GCOT malignant counterpart, GCOCs. Many authors have reported CEOTs and GCOTs variably express keratins, β-catenin, BCL-2, BSP, RANKL, OPG, Notch1, Jagged1, TGF-β, SMADs, and other proteins. However, these heterogeneous lesions should be differentially diagnosed to allow for accurate tumor progression and prognosis prediction.

        The insufficient tensile strength of asphalt concrete is a major problem to pavement performance. This is particularly true when asphalt concrete pavements are placed on unstable subgrades or overlayed onto previously cracked asphalt or cement concrete pavements. This report presents comparisons of selected mechanical properties of unreinforced and fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures. Fiber reinforcement was achieved with homogeneously dispersed steel and polyester fibers. Comparative experimental evaluations were made using Marshall mix design procedures and indirect tensile tests. The test results indicate that fiber reinforcement increase the tensile strength of asphalt mixture.

      • 부동산집행절차에 있어 유치권의 문제

        According to the fifth clause of Article 91 of Civil Execution Act, although it practically takes on abernahmeprinzip that forces a purchaser of real estate auctions (successful bidder) to reimburse receivables collateralized as a lien with respect to a real estate lien, a rightful person is not legally obliged to report a lien in auction procedures and the auction court is not responsible for definite title examination, solely notifying a purchase candidate of legal relationships such as whether or not a lien is valid by record with ambiguous not indisputable expression. The responsibility on this is completely imposed on a purchaser. Further, different from other rights over real estate that take registration as a method of public notice, a lien is valid with lawful occupation (Civil Law the second clause of Article 320) without registration, which is subject to conflict with a lien and other rights. In Civil Execution Act, if a false or exaggerated lien is reported by abusing the problem in a real estate auction with a collusion of debtor, owner, and lien holder, a rightful person in a prior-order security right is subject to infringement by a lowered winning bid and a status of a purchaser of real estate auctions (successful bidder) noticeably is not secured. For this, along with genuine protection of lien holder and prevention of false, exaggerated report of a lien, auction participants should be able to check in advance whether or not a lien is true. To achieve this, required is to introduce a lien registration order system similar to the lease registration order system of housing (shop) leaseholder in Special Civil Law. Required is also to secure a status of a rightful person such as a person holding a security right and a purchaser by enabling a lien holder to access to material, along with making public the court's screening, when a lien holder applies for his or her right. If a valid part on a lien can be definitized and also title examination on the sale property can be settled in concrete through an enhanced lien holder legal status on real estate and relevant improvement schemes, a transparent real estate auction market will be set up which prevents delayed real estate procedures and possible disputes later on in advance.

      • 교대 뒷채움 재료의 변형특성 평가

        It is very important to select backfill materials and its precision construction techniques for the structural integrity of abutment in bridge. In generally, backfill materials as unbound crushed stones were used to provide the safety of abutment structure and to reduce of different settlement around abutment which is significantly relate with performance of road pavement under working conditions. In this study, for compatibility evaluation of backfill materials at abutment and development of abutment design program, the followings were studied: i) basic properties of subgrade soils in Korea, ii) creep characteristics of soils. The subgrade soils in Korea are mostly sandy soils, showing the capability of the subgrade soils being used as backfill materials at abutment. It was observed that the creep characteristics of soils and its PI value was significantly relate. In the simulation study of the concrete box culvert, the value of dynamic earth pressure during compaction is greater than that of static condition. It was observed that the earth pressure during compaction can give harmful effect to the wall structure with backfill compaction.

        Large scale of repair works have been done due to the various reasons like an increase of heavy weight vehicles since the 1990’s. For the reason of that, large quantities of waste asphalt concrete have been produced for every year. In developed countries, the waste asphalt concrete has been reused in pavement, but in Korea it had used to heap up the earth works or to fill on waste reclaimed land. This study conducts the research to use the matter for Asphalt-treated base course and Surface course in Cold Mixture Recycling manufactured from using Modified(High Float) Asphalt Emulsion in Cold Mix Recycling, which is considered utilizable rate will be higher because it is easy for using in construction field and safe environmentally.

        사람의 침샘에서 발현하는 새로운 유전자의 분리 및 동정

        In order to unravel unidentified genes from human salivary gland, a cDNA library of human submandibular gland was constructed in the Uni‐ZAP XR vector by use of mRNA from human submandibular gland and ZAP‐cDNA® Gigapack® III Gold Cloning Kit. cDNA of salivary gland was subtracted with cDNA of immortalized human keratinocyte cell line, Rhim Human Epithelial Keratinocyte cell line. The phage cDNA library was converted into a pBluescript phagemid cDNA library, which was subsequently plated on LB plates with ampicillin, IPTG, and X‐gal, and white colonies were selected for sequencing. Among 200 clones analyzed, four clones containing C77‐091, C75‐014, C76‐022, and C76‐012 designated orphan genes that are intensely expressed in the interlobular ductal and serous acinar cells of human submandibular gland. Particularly C77‐091 gene expresses 46 amino acids peptide (pI=9.45). C75‐014 and C76‐022 genes were characterized as those expressing excretory basic proteins primarily consist of alanine, proline, and leucine residues, mimicking a basic proline‐rich protein (bPRP) showing helical structures and having multiple consensus sequences of phosphorylation sites. The strong expression of C76‐012 mRNA in the nuclei of salivary ductal and acinar cells suggests a role of C76‐012 gene as a DNA binding RNA/protein. These data suggest that the identification of four orphan genes from the human salivary glands may add further understanding of greater role of salivary proteins providing innate immunity by protecting and stabilizing the mucosal epithelium in the maintaining homeostasis of oral mucosa.
