        황사 발생과 일부 초등학교 학생들의 자각증상 및 행동변화

        Purpose : While there have been growing concerns about the effects of Asian dusts on health, there are few studies for relationship between Asian dusts and health outcome. This study was designed to examine the perceived symptoms and behavior change of children during the Asian Dust events. Methods : We surveyed 459 students at an elementary school in Seoul, Korea from November 20th to 27th 2002. Children with parents were asked to return the completed questionnaires within a week. The questionnaires included the sociodemographic factor, previous respiratory disease, and perceived symptom, hospital visits and behavior change during the Asian dusts. Results : The majority of children reported that they restrained going out and outdoor recreational activity during the Asian dusts. The rate of children who worn the mask was 49% and 47% in second grade and fifth grade, respectively. Regarding the perceived symptom during the Asian dusts, the children in 2nd were more likely to have symptom than 5th and there were significant difference between two groups in cough. asthma symptom, dry cough, phlegm and medication for allergy or asthma symptom. In addition, children who had previous disease were more likely to change behavior in order to prevent the effects of Asian dusts. Conclusions : This study suggested that the younger children and children who had past respiratory disease were susceptible to the effect of Asian dusts. There is a need for providing public information and health education to prevent the impact of Asian dusts on health.

        황사 기간 동안에 어린이, 성인, 노인에서의 자각증상과 예방행동에 대한 조사연구

        Purpose: Recently there are scientific evidences for the health effects of Asian dust-storms. Particularly in 2002, the daily average of PM_(10) exceeded 600 and 700 ㎍/㎥ in March and April respectively. We examined the effects of Asian dust-storms on perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors among children, adults, and elders. Method: The subjects of this study were 425 children, 444 adults and 60 elders. A questionnaire survey was carried out on the children and the adults by teachers and on the elders by interviewers to obtain information on demographic variables, perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors, previous respiratory disease, environmental tobacco smoke, and proximity between the house and the road during Asian dust-storms. We analyzed using descriptive statistics, X_(2) test and multiple logistic regression models. After adjustment for potential confounders, we estimated the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of the children and the elders for perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors. Result: The elders had a significantly higher prevalence of respiratory symptoms than the other groups. The children had a significantly higher prevalence than the adults in getting URI (1.51), coughing (1.68), rhinorrhea (1.46), fever (2.39) and medication for allergy or asthma (1.90). The children had better behaviors than the elders in closing windows (3.57), taking less outdoor recreational activity (2.59) and staying home (2.60).

        서식지 적합 지수를 이용한 멸종위기식물 단양쑥부쟁이와 층층둥굴레의 대체서식지 평가

        4대강 사업 공사로 인해 한강수계에서 자생하던 멸종위기 야생생물 II급인 단양쑥부쟁이와 층층둥굴레의 서식지가 소실되어 이에 대한 대안으로 대체서식지가 조성되었다. 본 연구에서는 조성된 대체서식지가 각 종의 서식에 적합 한지를 파악하기 위하여 서식지 적합 지수(Habitat Suitability Index; HSI)를 이용하였다. 2015년 10월부터 2016년 7월까지 경기도 여주 강천섬과 섬강 일대에 위치한 단양쑥부쟁이 대체서식지와 강천섬과 충북 충주 영죽지구에 위 치한 층층둥굴레 대체서식지를 대상으로 HSI를 평가하였다. 단양쑥부쟁이의 평가 변수로는 서식 기질(매몰되지 않 은 자갈의 비율), 고도 범위, 토양 양분, 광 조건 4가지를 선정하였고, 층층둥굴레는 토성, 광 조건, 동반 위해종의 피도 3가지를 선정하여 HSI를 이용한 대체서식지 적합성 평가를 수행하였다. 평가 결과, 강천섬의 단양쑥부쟁이 (HSI = 0.839)와 층층둥굴레(HSI = 0.846)의 대체서식지 모두 비교적 높은 적합지수를 나타내었으나, 섬강 일대의 단양쑥부쟁이 대체서식지와 영죽지구의 층층둥굴레 대체서식지는 대체서식지로서 적합하지 않음으로 판단되었다 (HSI = 0). 또한 이들 부적합한 대체서식지의 경우, 자생지 인근에서 서식에 적합한 장소를 새로이 선정하는 것이 더 바람직할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 식물종에 대해 HSI를 적용한 국내 최초의 시도로, 식물 서식처에 대한 HSI의 효용성을 증명하였다. As a result of the Four-River Restoration Project in Korea, the habitat of endangered plant species of Aster altaicus var. uchiyamae and Polygonatum stenophyllum, which had been natively grown in the riparian zone of Namhan River, was destroyed and artificial replacement habitats were created. In this study, Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) was used to determine whether the replacement habitats are suitable for each species or not. From October 2015 to July 2016, Habitat Evaluate Procedures (HEP) were conducted on two replacement habitats of A. altaicus var. uchiyamae (Gangcheonsum and Sum-River) and on two replacement habitats of P. stenophyllum (Gangcheonsum and Youngjuk) in the Namhan River watershed. As evaluation parameters for A. altaicus var. uchiyamae habitat, habitat matrix (ratio of unburied gravel), height above the ordinary water level, soil nutrients, and light conditions were selected and for P. stenophyllum habitat, soil texture, light conditions, and coverage of companion species were selected. HSI was applied to evaluate the suitability of each replacement habitat. According to the result of the evaluation, replacement habitats of A. altaicus var. uchiyamae and P. stenophyllum located in Gangcheonsum have relatively high HSI values as 0.839 and 0.846, respectively. On the other hand, replacement habitats of A. altaicus var. uchiyamae in Sum-River and P. stenophyllum in Youngjuk zone have HSI value of 0, indicating unsuitable habitats for these species. This is the first attempt to apply HSI for plant species in Korea and proved the usefulness of HSI on plants.

        Silver reduction on the surface of magnetite nanoparticles using a coupling agent

        The present study deals with a modified polyol process for synthesizing silver nanoparticles selectively on the surface of fine magnetite particles consisting of two step reactions, i.e. sol–gel reaction and silver reduction reaction. In the first step, the surface of magnetite particles is treated with thiol (S–H) groups which have a high affinity with silver using a coupling agent 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS). The second step is reducing silver nitrate with ethylene glycol at thiol groups on the magnetite particles, so called polyol process. Specifically this study is focused on understanding the effect of reaction parameters on the formation of silver nanoparticles at the surface of magnetite particles. The reaction parameters are amount of coupling agent MPTMS, solvent composition, mechanical dispersion treatment, dispersant for the sol–gel reaction and reduction time for the polyol process. The surface modification of magnetite is checked with FT-IR spectra and silver synthesis is analyzed with TEM, TEMEDS,and UV–vis spectrum. It is found that the MPTMS amount and mechanical dispersion conditions give relatively large influence on the pattern of silver formation.

        Preparation of silver nanoparticles on the surface of fine magnetite particles by a chemical reduction

        We demonstrate a modified polyol process to synthesize silver nanoparticles on the surface of larger magnetite nanoparticles. The overall process consists of two step reactions. First the magnetite particles of 100–200 nm in diameter are functionalized with a coupling agent 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) through a sol–gel reaction. The functionalization of the magnetite surface is confirmed with IR spectra. For the second step silver nitrate is reduced at the site of thiol groups of the functionalized magnetite surface with ethylene glycol (EG) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). It was observed that silver nanoparticles were formed on the surface of the magnetite particles from transmission electron microscopy images and chemical composition analysis with energy dispersive spectrometer.

        DRES 기반 국방연구시설장비 정보관리 개선방안 연구

        R&D Facilities and Equipment(F&E) is one of the major R&D outcomes, and the NFEC manages R&D F&E information. In particular, the NFEC collects R&D F&E information from other R&D agencies and departments and then provides information service through ZEUS to researchers. However, the defense field manages its R&D F&E information independently to avoid technology leakage and because of the specialty of the field. So, the DAPA enacted a regulation in 2017, and according to the regulation, KRIT has been managing R&D F&E information in the Defense field. Also, KRIT provides information service through DRES and executes related public use support, similarity test, investigation, and so on. However, the use rate of the service is low, and public use and management of the operation and maintenance log are limited because it does not reflect the actual work requirements, although the work is stabilized by enforcing the regulation. So, this research analyzed the policy and regulation related to national R&D F&E and that of the defense field and the corresponding information management processes and their utilization status to overcome this limitation. Furthermore, this research conducted interviews and surveys with military and research organizations and then drew the associated problems and the requirements for using R&D F&E. Consequently, this research showed an advancement plan and strategy tasks for the information service with respect to information management, investigation, and public use. In effect, this research will eliminate an idle & less utilized R&D F&E and related duplicated establishments. Finally, this research will contribute to the development of defense science and technology through the execution and expansion of defense R&D projects. 연구시설장비는 연구개발 활동의 주요 성과물 중 하나로 범국가 차원으로 국가연구시설장비진흥센터(이하 NFEC)에서 연구시설장비 정보를 종합관리 중이다. NFEC은 연구개발 예산으로 구축한 시설장비 정보를 수집하여 ZEUS를 통해 정보서비스를 제공 중이며, 연간 조사를 통해 유휴·저활용 장비를 식별하여 산학연 연구기관에게 이전 업무를 수행 중이다. 이와 다르게 국방분야는 기술유출 및 연구개발 사업의 비닉성을 고려하여 독립적으로 연구시설장비 정보를 관리한다. 방위사업청은 `17년 관련규정을 제정하였고 출연기관인 국방기술진흥연구소(이하 국기연)를 통하여 정보서비스 구축·운영 업무를 수행하고 있다. 국기연은 연구시설장비 정보를 수집하여 국방기관 및 산학연 연구기관에게 정보서비스를 제공 중이며, 공동활용지원, 중복성 검토, 조사 업무를 수행중이다. 하지만 규정 시행에 따라 관련 업무는 안정화 되었지만 정보서비스의 활용률은 저조하며 운영·유지보수 관리 및 공동활용 관련 업무는 현업을 반영하지 못한 기능구축으로 이용에 제한된다. 이를 극복하기 위해 본 연구에서는 국가-국방간 정책·제도 조사, 연구시설장비 정보관리 업무절차 및 현황, 정보서버 운영현황 분석을 수행하였다. 또한 국방기관 및 산학연 기관 대상으로 인터뷰와 설문조사를 수행하여 현실태와 요구사항을 수렴하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 고도화 방안을 수립하였고 정보관리, 조사업무 및 공동활용 측면으로 전략과제를 제시하였다. 연구시설장비의 효율적인 운영을 통해 유휴·저활용 장비 감소 및 중복 도입을 방지할 수 있고, 산학연 연구기관의 국방연구개발 참여를 확대하여 국방과학기술 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
