The advantage of tubular torsion beam axle is to have light weight, sufficient rear package. As time goes by, Target of roll stiffness of rear axle get higher than before for satisfied roll gain related to front and rear roll stiffness. In this study, We will do not only to find the design factor of tubular torsion beam required high roll stiffness, but to correlate between CAE analysis and actual test for design factor related to roll fatigue life of beam. And we will compare the results between forming simulation and prototype based on CAD data.

In analysis of welded structures, the weld zone is generally described to be rigid or a multiple thickness, due to difficulties in finding a suitable modeling method and in collecting material data. This method has advantages of making modeling easy and free from the influence of analysis time. However, it is difficult to depict the mechanical property of the structure in this method. Therefore, this paper will present a weld zone modeling program in order to efficiently describe the weld zone of MIG welded structures. We have built 3 specimens on the basis of welding method in an effort to build a finite element model of the weld zone, we have observed the weld zone and have measured its hardness, using hardness tester. Using a relation of hardness and strength, we have collected material data of HAZ and nugget, and have performed the welding analysis in order to check out the residual stress and the deformation shape of the weld zone. Besides, we have compared the results with the those in strength experiment tests of the weld specimens, and have evaluated the reliability of the modeling in comparison with the existing modeling methods.
