Performance of a 160㎿ class reheat cycle gas turbine for combined cycle power plant was evaluated as a preliminary performance diagnosis. Based on diverse measured performance parameters of the plant, component characteristic parameters such as compressor air flow rate and efficiency, turbine efficiency and coolant flow rate were obtained using a performance analysis scheme aimed to match analyzed and measured performance parameters. The absolute values of the characteristic parameters and their variations during operating condition change were quite reasonable.

This paper describes the methodology and results of predicting component characteristic parameters of a reheat cycle gas turbine for a combined cycle power plant. A performance simulation based on detailed component models has been constructed and a calculation algorithm, which produces characteristic parameters such as air flow rate, compressor and turbine efficiencies, was set up. A set of characteristic parameters, which matches the calculated performance parameters such as various temperatures, fuel flow and power to the measured counterparts best, were obtained as the solution. Prediction was performed in a wide operation range and predicted characteristic parameters were quite reasonable. In particular, the compressor inlet flow rate corresponds well with manufacturer data. A sensitivity analysis was also examined to examine the influence of uncertainties of measured parameters. The results present that high pressure turbine efficiency is much affected by the uncertainties.
