        Increased Bacteriocin Activity of a Recombinant Pediococcus acidilactici

        Pediocin PA-1, mainly produced from Pediococcus spp., is a well-known class IIa bacteriocin showing strong anti-listerial activity. Pediococcus acidilactici K10 producing the bacteriocin was transformed with pLR5cat(S)_PSAB in which the pediocin PA-1 structural gene (pedA) was translationally fused with a deduced signal sequence of the bifidobacterial α-amylase gene for secretion. The P. acidilactici K10 transformant presented increased bacteriocin activity when compared with that of native P. acidilactici K10. The P. acidilactici K10 mutant (K10M), in which the plasmid for pediocin PA-1 production is cured, also showed bacteriocin activity when transformed with pLR5cat(S)_PSAB, indicating that the pediocin gene was expressed in hosts. An increase in pedA gene transcription level and the detection of both transcripts from the pediocin operon and PSAB were also confirmed. The P. acidilactici K10 [pLR5cat(S)_PSAB] transformant was more inhibitory against Listeria monocytogenes than that of the P. acidilactici K10 wild type in co-cultures.

        LASSO 방법을 이용한 프라이버시 침해 우려 행태 분석

        As the use of various media channels increase rapidly, personal information must be filled to use various services and media contents. However, there are many problems in leakage of personal information. This study analyzes various aspects of the degree of privacy invasion concern using media panel data from 2014 to 2017. When model includes many variables, multi-collinearity and overfitting problems generally arise. This paper uses LASSO to solve these problems. For privacy invasion concern, we selected variables by LASSO and then classified the characteristics of users by decision tree analysis. The results show that SNS activity, smartphone or Wi-Fi zone usage time, and frequency of internet cafe activities have the greatest impact on personal privacy invasion. Also, men are strongly influenced by car audio, document work, and number of household members, and women are more likely to be affected by average monthly income, sleeping time, amount spent in applications, and music listening time. Samsung, LG and Apple show their own characteristics, although Samsung and LG have similar trends by year. Especially, Apple has a distinctly different trend from others. 다양한 미디어 채널 사용이 급격히 증가함과 동시에 각종 서비스와 미디어 콘텐츠를 이용하기 위해서는 개인정보를 기재해야한다. 하지만 요즈음 급증하고 있는 개인정보의 유출에 많은 문제점이 대두되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 2014년-2017년 기간 동안의 미디어패널 자료를 이용하여 프라이버시 침해 우려 정도에 대해 다방면으로 분석을 진행하였다. 보통 설명변수가 많을 경우 다중공선성 및 과적합 문제가 발생하게 되는데 이를 해결하기 위해 벌점화 모형 중에서 LASSO 방법이 주로 사용된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 LASSO 회귀모형으로 연도별 프라이버시 우려 정도에 미치는 변수를 선택한 후 의사결정나무 분석을 이용하여 프라이버시 침해 우려에 관한 이용자들의 특징을 분류해보았다. 분석 결과, 개인 프라이버시 침해에 대해 2014년-2017년 각각 SNS 활동, 스마트폰 이용시간, 와이파이존 이용시간, 인터넷 카페 활동 빈도가 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성별과 핸드폰 제조사 브랜드 별로 나누어 분석해본 결과, 남성들은 카오디오, 문서작업, 가구원 수에 영향을 많이 받고, 여성들은 월평균 소득, 수면시간, 애플리케이션 관련 지출금액, 음악/음원 청취 시간에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 핸드폰 브랜드별 분석 결과에서 삼성과 LG는 연도 추세를 따라가는 공통점도 보였지만 세 브랜드 모두 각자의 특징을 보였고, 특히 애플의 경우 삼성, LG와는 확연히 다른 형태를 보였다.

        Real-world management of chronic myeloid leukemia in South Korea: the TARGET survey

        Background The global TARGET survey examined real-world management of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) compared with international guideline recommendations. This report focused on the responses of physicians from South Korea compared with those of physicians from the rest of the world (ROW). Methods The self-administered, online survey, comprising 23 questions and clinical case scenarios, was completed between April and August 2017. It was designed to gather information on practicing physicians and local practices for CML diagnosis, disease monitoring, treatment, and adverse event (AE) management. Results While there were similarities in the mutation analysis and treatment efficacy between Korea and the ROW, there were also differences in CML management. Initial diagnostic testing was more comprehensive in Korea than in the ROW, and there was significantly better access to standardized polymerase chain reaction testing. Assessment of BCR-ABL levels during the first 12 months of treatment was excellent in Korea, and there was greater frontline use of second-generation BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Korean physicians were significantly less likely to switch therapy for hematologic AEs. Treatment-free remission was not an important goal of therapy among Korean or ROW physicians. Conclusion This study identified some differences in the current CML management between Korea and the ROW; CML management in Korean patients was generally in line with the current guidelines.

        Construction of Bioluminescent Lactobacillus casei CJNU 0588 for Murine Whole Body Imaging

        Recombinant DNA pLuc2 which contains a firefly luciferase cDNA from the commercial pGL3-Basic plasmid vector was constructed for bioluminescent Escherichia coli and lactobacilli. The bioluminescent signal strengths of E. coli DH5α and L. casei CJNU 0588 transformed with pLuc2 were 2.78×109 and 1.19×106 p/s, respectively. Approximately 1010 cells of bioluminescent L. casei CJNU 0588 (pLuc2) were given orally to 6-week-old female Balb/c mice. The bioluminescent signal was detected from all three mice at 1 h and one mouse at 3 h but was not detected thereafter. The signal was also confirmed from an opened abdomen and the extracted GI tract of a mouse at 1 h. From the results, we have known that L. casei CJNU 0588 pass through the murine stomach and reach the colon and cecum 1 h after oral administration.

        줄리안 반즈의 『잉글랜드, 잉글랜드』 — “멋진 브리테니아”의 허상 —

        The aim of this paper is to explore the nature of Englishness based on historical factors or authorized history in British postmodernism fictions published after the 1980s. For this, as selecting Julian Barnes’ England, England, which was published in 1998 and dealt with the issue of Englishness, I analyze how Barnes reveals the nature of Englishness with postmodernism narrative strategies in the first and the second chapter in England, England, To illustrate the fictitious and artificial nature of Englishness, in the second chapter, I focus on the function of historiographic metafiction, one of postmodernism literary forms, while examining how Pittman and his committee designs the authentic “England, England.” In the third chapter, I stress postmodernism parody as the key role in identifying not only imperfect but artificial characteristics of Englishness, and find out how parodies of political policies related to history classes, which have been controlled by the UK government since the 1980s, expose what Englishness is. In short, I will prove how Barnes defines Englishness supported by history features as a myth in England, England with the postmodern literary form and style as well as the content, and shows the possibility to expand the meaning and significant of Englishness. 본 논문은 영국성의 본질을 분석하고, 현대 사회에서 영국성의 해석 영역을 확장하는 데 목적이 있다. 1980년대 이후 영국 정부는 역사를 기반으로 한 영국성의 강화를 정책으로 지원했다. 하지만 동시대의 영국 포스트모더니즘 소설가들은 해당 개념을 지배 이데올로기의 산물로 간주하고, 다양한 의문을 제기하며 그 허구적 본질을 폭로했다. 본 논문은 줄리안 반즈가 『잉글랜드, 잉글랜드』에서 내용뿐 아니라 형식을 통해 드러내는 역사와 역사에 기반을 둔 영국성의 본질을 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 반즈가 포스트모더니즘 형식 중 하나인 히스토리오그래픽 메타픽션을 사용하여 어떻게 효과적으로 역사의 허구적 특성을 드러내는지를 분석하고자 한다. 그리고 3장에서는 반즈가 작품 전반에 걸쳐 독자들이 영국성의 본질을 직시하고, 단순히 영국성 뿐 아니라 국가 정체성을 포함한 모든 절대 가치의 본질을 재평가하도록 이끌기 위해 사용한 포스트모더니즘 패러디가 드러내는 영국성의 본질을 탐색하고자 한다. 즉, 이 연구는 현대 영국성의 본질이 신화에 불과하다는 점을 밝힘으로써 기존의 제국주의와 탈식민주의와 연관지어 분석되던 영국성의 의미뿐 아니라, 해당 개념의 탐색을 통해 기대할 수 있는 인식 확장의 가능성을 함께 제시하고자 한다.

        하브루타를 활용한 한국어 혼합형 수업 사례 연구 - 논쟁 중심 하브루타를 중심으로 -

        The purpose of this study is to present a Korean language teaching model using Habruta in a Blended learning environment and to find a teaching and learning method using it. Based on the theory, a model was designed for the ‘argument-oriented Habruta class’ for international students for academic purposes, and the class was applied in an online-offline learning environment. The effects of 'improving communication and speaking ability', 'expanding thinking ability', 'self-directed learning', and 'active interaction' were confirmed through the interview of the learners. It is significant in that it presented a class model that can induce active interaction in a Blended learning environment by presenting a Habruta class model for Korean learners for academic purposes.

        Construction of a Recombinant Leuconostoc mesenteroides CJNU 0147 Producing 1,4-Dihydroxy-2-Naphthoic Acid, a Bifidogenic Growth Factor

        1,4-Dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (DHNA), a precursor of menaquinone (vitamin K2), has an effect on growth stimulation of bifidobacteria and prevention of osteoporosis, making it a promising functional food material. Therefore, we tried to clone the menB gene encoding DHNA synthase from Leuconostoc mesenteroides CJNU 0147. Based on the genome sequence of Leu. mesenteroides ATCC 8293 (GenBank accession no., CP000414), a primer set (Leu_menBfull_F and Leu_menBfull_R) was designed for the PCR amplification of menB gene of CJNU 0147. A DNA fragment (1,190 bp), including the menB gene, was amplified, cloned into pGEM-T Easy vector, and sequenced. The deduced amino acid sequence of MenB (DHNA synthase) protein of CJNU 0147 had a 98% similarity to the corresponding protein of ATCC 8293. The menB gene was subcloned into pCW4, a lactic acid bacteria - E. coli shuttle vector, and transferred to CJNU 0147. The transcription of menB gene of CJNU 0147 (pCW4::menB) was increased, when compared with those of CJNU 0147 (pCW4) and CJNU 0147 (-). The DHNA was produced from it at a detectable level, indicating that the cloned menB gene of CJNU 0147 encoded a DHNA synthase which is responsible for the production of DHNA, resulting in an increase of bifidogenic growth stimulation activity.

        효율적인 ID 기반 인증 및 키 교환 프로토콜

        사물인터넷 기술을 기반으로 한 초연결 사회에서는 다양한 성능의 기기들로부터 데이터가 수집되고, 이를 가공하여 사용자에게 새로운 서비스를 제공한다. 이 경우, 사용자의 프라이버시를 보호하고 악의적인 공격자로부터 안전한 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 기기 간 상호 인증이 필수적으로 수행되어야 한다. ID 기반 서명을 이용하면 기기 고유의 ID를 이용하여 기기 간 인증 및 키 교환을 수행할 수 있다. 그러나 기존 RSA 구조의 ID 기반 서명 기법을 이용하면 인증단계 이후에 키 교환을 위한 추가적인 파라미터 공유가 필요하기 때문에 효율성 측면에서 IoT 환경의 저성능 기기에 적용하기에 어려움이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 ID 기반 서명을 설계하고, 이를 이용하여 인증 및 키 교환이 동시에 수행되는 효율적인 ID 기반 인증 및 키 교환 프로토콜을 제안한다. 그리고 제안하는 기법의 안전성을 RSA 일방향성에 기반하여 증명하고, 기존 기법들과의 비교를 통해 효율성을 분석한다. In a hyper-connected society realized through IoT-enabled technology, a large amount of data is collected by various devices and is processed to provide new services to users. While communicating through a network, it is essential for devices to execute mutual authentication since users’ privacy can be infringed by malicious attackers. ID-based signature enables authentication and key exchange with a unique ID of a device. However, most of the previous ID-based signature schemes based on RSA require an additional step to share parameters for key exchange so that they are not suitable for resource-constrained devices in terms of efficiency. In this paper, we design an efficient ID-based signature and thereby propose an efficient ID-based authentication and key exchange protocol in which sessions for both an authentication and a key exchange are executed simultaneously. In addition, we prove the security of our scheme under the RSA onewayness problem and analyze the efficiency by comparing with the previous schemes.
