This study explores the theme of family restoration in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), an adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1964 fairy tale with the same name. While Dahl's story written in the form of a fairy tale, Burton’s adaptation modernizes the original and expands scope by adding details about Willy Wonka’s troubled childhood. Burton remains true to the fairy-tale genre in his adaptation, emphasizing on moral lessons alongside a dualistic vision of a society pitted against good and evil. His portrayal of Wonka adds a deeper psychological dimension to the simplified character of the original protagonist. Through Wonka’s character, Burton challenges the traditional fairy-tale reliance on binary categories. This is completed in the theme of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the family system, even the alternative family, which is also the key theme of the fairy tales.

우울 증세를 보이는 기혼여성의 학습된 무기력과 우울감소를 위한 콜라주 미술치료 사례연구

본 연구의 목적은 콜라주 미술치료가 우울 증세를 보이는 기혼여성의 학습된 무기력과 우울감소에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 그 효과에 대해 알아보는데 있다. 연구대상은 중간 우 울정도를 나타내고 있는 기혼여성 1명으로 2016년 1월~5월까지 주 1회, 60분씩 총 12회기 에 걸쳐서 구조화한 콜라주 미술치료를 진행하였다. 측정도구로는 학습된 무기력 검사와 우 울검사, 나무그림검사를 사전․사후로 실시하여 그 변화를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 콜라주 미술치료는 학습된 무기력검사 결과 사전 총점 75점에서 사후 45점으로 30점 감소된 변화치를 보였다. 둘째, 콜라주 미술치료는 우울검사 결과 사전 총점 23점에서 사후 8점으로 15점 감소된 변화치를 보였다. 셋째, 콜라주 미술치료는 나무그림검 사 사전․사후 결과에서도 긍정적인 변화를 보였다. 회기별 작품에서도 사진 조각 수, 사진 내용, 여백의 작품 구성에서 긍정적인 변화를 보였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 종합하여 보면 콜라주 미술치료는 우울 증세를 보이는 기혼 여성의 학습된 무기력과 우울을 감소시키는데 효과적이었음을 입증하였다. The study examines the effects of collage art therapy on mitigating learned helplessness and depression of married women with signs of depression. The study subject is a married woman who is showing a moderate level of depression. Collage art therapy was carried out for 12 sessions in total, one session per week, from January 2016 to May 2016, each session consising of 60 minutes. Learned Helplessness test, Depression Scale test, and Tree picture test were carried out before and after the therapy sessions to track changes. The study results are as follows. First, Learned Helplessness test score decreased by 30 points from 75 to 45. Second, Depression Scale decreased by 15 points from 23 to 8. Third, Tree picture test results showed positive changes. Sessional works showed positive changes in the number of picture pieces, the contents of pictures, and the composition of the works. As a result, Collage art therapy was proved to be effective in mitigating learned helplessness and depression of married women with signs of depression.

18세기 『여지도서』 편찬과 군현지도의 발달

16세기 이후 지방 단위로 개별, 분사적으로 편찬되었던 읍지들이 18세기 중엽에 전국 읍지인 여지도서(輿地圖書)로 마무리 되었다. 『여지도서』는 서명에서 알 수 있듯이 ‘도(圖)’와 ‘서(書)’가 결합한 전국단위의 지리지이다. 『여지도서』에 수록되어 있는 군현지도는 『신증동국여지승람』에 수록되어 있었던 간략한 지도에서 발전한 것으로, 읍지의 내용을 지도로 도식화하여 보여준 것이다. 이는 읍지 내용의 정확성을 증가시키고 당시 지도를 이용하는 사람들의 공간적 인식에 변화를 가져왔다. 그리고 이와 같은 형식은 이후 제작된 대부분의 읍지의 기본 틀이 되었다. 지방 단위의 읍지를 국가가 종합화하여 『여지도서』를 편찬한 것과 비슷하게 각 군현의 지도도 도별 단위 또는 전국 단위로 제작되었다. 군현지도집은 지도의 내용과 제작 방법에 따라 일정한 축척을 적용하여 전국을 그린 군현지도집과 일정한 축척을 적용하지 않고 일정한 종이 크기에 각 군현을 그린 군현지도집으로 구분할 수 있다. 『여지도서』에 수록된 군현지도를 포함하여 18세기 이후 제작된 군현지도들은 이전까지 문자로 기록하였던 각 군현의 모습을 다른 형식으로 제작한 것이며, 『여지도서』와 같이 이 시기 조선 전 지역의 정보 파악을 통한 종합 결과물이다. 또한 군현지도의 제작은 지역 인식의 파악과 진전, 그리고 행정적 파악의 객관화를 보여 준다는 점에서 국가의 지방지배와 관련하여 의의가 크다.

오스카 와일드의 『행복한 왕자와 이야기들』에 나타난 사회적 미학

This paper intends to research Oscar Wilde’s socio-aesthetics in The Happy Prince and Other Tales(1888), his first book of fairy tales. His most works in The Happy Prince and Other Tales expose the problems arising from the conventions in Victorian bourgeois society. These stories describe how hypocritical social practices and measures maintained control of the system. They also serve as records of pain and suffering, with plots that seldom have happy endings despite being modeled as fairy tales. The main characters, through their deaths, revealed the poor conditions of a modern capitalist society that ultimately landed them in tragic situations in the end. Under these conditions, the best way an individual could rise was to be crucified, much like Christ. Since the norms of society have not significantly changed, the personal sacrifices of a protagonist are not enough to end poverty, injustice, and exploitation. However, these tales present a bright vision into a dark reality, representing Wilde’s socio-aesthetic life-changing art.

미국 아동청소년문학을 혁신하기 위하여: 호손의 『아이들에게 들려주는 놀라운 이야기』

This paper aims to demonstrate why Nathaniel Hawthorne's A Wonder Book for Boys and Girls(1851) is a revolutionary work in America’s juvenile literature. Hawthorne began to write juvenile works, publishing “Little Annie’s Ramble” anonymously. He published Grandfather’s Chair Series(1840-41) and Biographical Stories(1842) under his own name successfully, which combined American history with imagination. He could share the childhood concept with the Transcendentalists and be absorbed in the imagination. Having the idea of childhood, he continued to retell classical myths in A Wonder Book and Tanglewood Tales. In A Wonder Book, he created a lot of bright children including a youth narrator Eustas Bright who could come in and out a neutral territory between the real world and fairy-land to tell stories full of imagination. It remains an important historical text because it contributed to the shift reading culture that allowed children to read with and for pleasure.

20세기초 지형도로 본 제주

본 논문은 20세기에 제작된 제주도 지형도 현황을 파악하고, 이 가운데 20세 초 한국 근대지형도에 반영된 지리정보를 통해 제주도의 자연환경은 물론 이 시기 변화한 경관을 연구하는데 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 19세기 말에서 20세기 초에 제작된 1:50,000 제주 근대 지형도를 분석 대상으로 하여 1910년대 11장, 1950년대 8장, 1970년대 6장에 대하여 각 시기별로 제작된 지형도의 특징을 살펴보았다. 그리고 《大東輿地圖》와 『民籍統計表』, 『新舊對照朝鮮全道府郡面里洞名稱一覽』, 『地方行政一覽表』를 통해 지명을 비교하고 당시 행정구역을 복원하였다. 이를 토대로 20세기 초에 제작된 근대지형도를 활용하여 이 시기 제주도의 행정구역, 지명, 하천의 지리정보를 파악하고, 역사지리환경을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 한국근대지형도에 표기된 지명과 지리정보를 활용하여 20세기 초 제주의 모습을 확인할 수 있었다는데 의의가 있다.

루이스 새커의 소설 『구덩이』에 나타난 동화적 특성

This paper intends to research the fairy-tale aspects of Holes (US, 1998; UK, 2000) to identify the way writers for children and young adults incorporate these classic elements into their texts as an effective means of tackling twenty-first-century issues. Holes is a novel with both realism and fairy tale aspects that follows the story of how Stanley Yelnats IV lifts a curse, inflicted by his great-great grandfather, that has influenced the Yelnats family for generations. The novel takes place in a desert penal establishment for young offenders, allowing for the fairy tale structure of home-departure-adventure-home, as well as other fairy tale signifiers such as misfortune and fortune, fulfillment of a destined task, coincidental events, and a happy ending. The message of this novel is to live positively, the most common motif of many fairy tales. This positivity is exemplified by the main characters, Stanley and Zero, despite going through undeserved evil situations, are able to live with hope and integrity. The novel encourages the reader to make their own efforts and then thank God or providence even in evil situations, as there is often good within evil.
