Characteristics of orbital wall fractures in preschool and school-aged children

Objective This study aimed to evaluate the injury patterns in pediatric patients with an orbital wall fracture (OWF) and to identify the differences in injury patterns between preschool and school-aged patients with OWF who presented to the emergency department. Methods We performed a retrospective observational study in the emergency department of a tertiary hospital between January 2004 and March 2014. A total of 177 pediatric patients (<18 years) with OWF who underwent facial bone computed tomography scans with specific discharge codes were included. Patients were categorized into preschool (≤7 years) and school-aged (>7 years) pediatric groups. Results The inferior wall was the most common fracture site in both the preschool and school-aged pediatric groups (50.0% vs. 64.4%, P=0.15). The male-to-female ratio and the mechanism of injury showed significant differences between the two age groups. Violence was the most common mechanism of injury in the school-aged pediatric group (49.3%), whereas falls from a height caused OWF in approximately half of the patients in the preschool pediatric group (42.9%). Concomitant injuries and facial fractures had a tendency to occur more frequently in the school-aged pediatric group. Conclusion Significant differences according to the sex and mechanisms of injury were identified in preschool and school-aged pediatric patients with OWF.
수 발포 폴리스티렌의 합성 공정에서 Na+-MMT 도입과 중합 조건 개선을 통한 수분 함유량 증가에 관한 연구

이 연구에서는 물에 자연 점토 광물을 혼합한 유화수를 사용하여 수 발포 폴리스티렌(WEPS)을 제조하는 연구를 수행하였다. 괴상 중합이 진행 중인 스티렌/PS 혼합물에 유화수(물/clay)를 도입하여 강력한 교반으로 분산을시켰다. 이 후 현탁 중합을 이용하여 수 많은 물/clay 방울이 내부에 분산된 PS 비드를 얻을 수 있었다. 괴상 중합단계에서 수분의 도입량을 증가시킬수록 현택 중합 단계에서 비드의 뭉침으로 중합이 어려운 경우가 많았는데, 임펠러의 형태를 개선하였고 교반 속도를 증가시켜 최대 수분 도입량을 18 wt%까지 증가시켰다. 제조된 WEPS를 물과 CO2를 이용하여 밀도 31.6 kg/m3의 발포체를 얻었다. 수분 도입량은 기존 연구에 비하여 2배 정도 증가시킨 결과이다.
Imaging Features of Gastric Invasive Aspergillosis: A Report of Two Cases

Invasive aspergillosis is an opportunistic infection that usually occurs in immunocompromised patients. Although there are a few rare reports of isolated invasive aspergillosis affecting the small intestine, isolated or disseminated gastric invasive aspergillosis is extremely rare. Herein, we report 2 cases of gastric invasive aspergillosis in a 72-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man; the woman had been recovering from ruptured left posterior communicating artery aneurysm, which presented as emphysematous gastritis and the man from acute subdural haemorrhage in the intensive care unit, which presented as a pseudoaneurysm on CT imaging.
자궁적출술 후 복막결손을 통해 발생한 직장자궁오목(Douglas Pouch)탈장: 증례 보고

Internal hernia is a rare cause of small bowel obstruction. Among the different types of internal hernias, the pelvic hernia is extremely rare. We report the radiographic findings of a patient with a Douglas pouch hernia presenting with closed loop obstruction at the anterior aspect of the distal rectum. The patient was a 60-year-old female, who had undergone a hysterectomy 20 years prior, for treatment of a uterine myoma. 내탈장은 소장폐쇄 중 흔히 볼 수 없는 원인이며, 그 중에서도 골반탈장은 가장 드문 곳 중의 하나이다. 저자들은 20년 전 근종으로 자궁적출술을 시행한 60세 여자 환자에서 원위부 직장의 앞쪽에서 닫힌창자막힘(closed loop obstruction)으로 나타난 직장자궁오목(Douglas pouch)탈장의 영상소견을 보고하고자 한다.
