Recently, the number of accident that a train collides with a rail trespasser are reported to be more than 200 per year in korea. This kind of accident results fatal wound and death. Because the train runs fast and has heavy weight, the driver can not stop it effectively when he finds a rail trespasser. The casualties of this kind of accidents are increasing especially in urban train. Thus many countries that have advanced railway system endeavor effort to reduce these casualties. In this paper, a rescue device is proposed that has automatic detection device using laser detection technology to find a rail trespasser and airbag system to reduce damage. This concept adopts the ideas of recent researches in the area of automotive engineering and robotics. An airbag system are reported to be somewhat effective against collision accident with pedestrian in the recent researches of auto safety. Many types of combination sensors using laser detection technology are reported in researches of unmanned ground vehicle for outdoor terrain. As detection device, the combination of three sensors, stereo camera, short range laser scanner, long range laser scanner, are used in the proposed approach. As feasibility study of this idea, a detection device and a miniature airbag system is established on a test bed.
