Weak Firms Follow Strong Firms in Hot IPO Markets

We investigate whether initial public offerings (IPO) occurring during hot markets are fundamentally different from those occurring during cold markets. Firms that go public during hot markets show lower survival probability, shorter survival duration, and worse long-run performance. When hot markets are separated into two periods, we find early issuers during hot markets (pioneers) have better investment opportunities than late issuers during the same hot markets (followers). Furthermore, pioneers show higher survival probability, longer survival duration, and better long-run performance than followers. Our evidence shows that the inferior quality of followers is a major contributor to the difference between hot and cold IPO markets.

The present study is devoted to investigate the transient flow and to estimate the filling time fur underfill process by using the numerical model established on the fluid momentum equation. For optimization of the design and selection of process parameters, this study extensively presents an estimation of the filling time in the view points of some important factors related to underfill materials and flip-chip geometry. From the results, we conclude that the filling time changes with respect to the under fill materials because of different viscosity, surface tension coefficient and contact angle. It reveals that, as the gap height increases, the filling time decreases substantially, and goes to the saturated values.
Accuracy and Stability of Higher-Order α-Method in Computational Plasticity

탄소성 해석을 실시함에 있어서 재료물성관계(constitutive relation)의 수치적 적분법이 갖는 정확성(accuracy) 및 안정성(stability)을 평가하였다. 수치적 적분에 있어서는 von-Mises의 항복표면과 선형 탄소성 모델이 사용되었으며 보다 정밀하고 안정된 연산방식으로 2차 α-방법(quadratic α-method)이 제안되었다. 제안된 2차 α-방법을 선형α-방법과 비교하였으며, 제안된 방법이 갖는 높은 정확성 및 안정성을 Krieg [Krieg and Krieg, 1977]에 의해서 제안된 정밀해와 비교분석 하였다. 제안된 2차α-방법은 모든 α값에 대하여 적당한 μ값을 사용함으로써 높은 안정성을 확보하였으며 연산시간에 있어서도 선형α-방법과 동일하였다. 특히 연산시 선형α-방법이 갖는 조건적 안정성(conditional stability)을 α값 및 μ값의 조합적 사용으로 무조건적 안정성(unconditional stability)을 확보하는데 성공하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the achievement process’s characteristics of HSGPA(High School Grade Point Average) of whole grades, NAAT (National Academic Achievement Test) of three years, and CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) on English. This study carried out the analysis of correlation and regression between HSGPA and CSAT Scores on English in an Academic High School. In addition to qualitative data from HSGPA and CSAT, this study conducted survey by subject students to analyze the role of the affective component. The results show that the achievement of students who have already accumulated learning strategies by or before first year was usually higher than those who don’t. The level of knowledge of lower grade has also determined whether the students could have good achievement or not in their future. According to the analyses from the survey research, the significant variables that made main impacts on the students’ achievement were parents’ SES(Social Economic Status), educational background, teacher’s encouragement, private academic education time, and individual study hours. Among them, parents‘ SES was highly related with students’ CSAT scores, while positive relationship with teachers and stable study hours gave significant influence on HSGPA scores of students. In sum, the HSGPA, based on the results of this paper, had the excellent advantages as the college admission qualifications.
