Synthetic aperture radar(SAR) has been widely used for reconnaissance. It provides high-resolution, day-and-night and weather-independent images for a multitude of applications. Because SAR coherently combines many viewing angles to effectively create a large aperture(narrow beam) radar, the test-bed should be capable of moving straightly SAR sensor for the integration angle to meet resolution. This paper describes the test-bed developed to test and evaluate the SAR performance. It forms high-quality images in real time and saves the raw data for the purpose of post processing on the ground.

Energy consumption is an issue in the built environment. Since energy costs are significant in an apartment building mainly for heating, cooling, and lighting, it is very important to identify energy consumption patterns in the building. In addition, energy consumption in a dwelling is also closely related to the household’s operating costs for the life of the apartment. Therefore, it is very important that residents of apartments consider energy consumption and use patterns to minimize the operating costs of the apartment. To determine energy consumption patterns in apartment buildings, this study collected utility data from the owners of 614 apartments to include natural gas, electricity, and water consumption from January 2010 to December 2010. The number of users in each apartment and the orientation of the building was also recorded. The apartments are located in the Walbae district in Daegu, South Korea and have been occupied since August 2008. The study found that February is the lowest month of water consumption and August is the highest. The highest month of natural gas use is January, 1,038.7% higher than the lowest gas consumption in July. August is the month with the highest consumption of electricity, 62.6% higher than the lowest consumption in May.
아파트 단위세대의 규모 및 방위별 에너지 사용규모와 패턴에 관한 연구

The goal of this research is to provide basic data for energy efficiency in multi-family residential building designs and to contribute to its improvements. The goal is achieved by analysing the amount of energy use and the energy use patterns for different ‘apartment housing units’. The apartment unit samples for the analysis are selected from ‘J-apartment complex’ constructed by a prominent construction company in South Korea. The samples are sorted according to several criteria such as ‘floor plan size and configuration’, ‘exterior wall lengths’, and ‘building orientations’. The analysis is aimed to guide economic feasibility for energy saving designs in multi-family residential buildings. The final analysis is aimed to provide the standard for energy efficient multi-family apartment designs. Three inferences are made during this research. First, the energy usage and its cost escalate as the size of an apartment unit increases. Second, when the size of apartment units are same, the energy usage of each unit differs according to its orientation. Energy usage factors according to building orientations are as follow: South units(100%), South-West units(105.71%), South-East units(111.04%), South-West units with location disadvantage(112.38%), South-East units with location disadvantage (113.22%). Third, a set-back from the building mass creates micro-climate conditions and draws shadow on the apartment unit. It is proved by the analysis that such micro-climate conditions give the unit disadvantages for its energy efficiency.
스포트라이트 모드 SAR 영상 형성에서의 수정된 가중치 최소 자승기법에 의한 자동 초점 알고리즘

요동이 존재하는 환경에서 항법 장비 정확도의 한계 및 시스템 지연 오차 등으로 방위 위상 오차가 필연적으로 발생하는 항공기 탑재 SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar)의 경우, 방위 위상 오차를 신호처리 알고리즘으로 추정하고 보상하는 자동 초점(Autofocus: AF) 기법 적용이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 수정된 가중치 최소 자승기법(Modified Weighted Least-Squares: MWLS)에 의한 자동 초점 알고리즘을 제안한다. 새로운 방식의 표적 선정 및 정렬과 방위 방향 반복 위상 추정방식을 통해 기존 WLS보다 견고한 성능을 보이게 된다. 비행 시험을 통해 획득한 SAR 원시데이터에 제안한 방식을 적용하고 성능을 분석하여 제안한 방식의 유효함과 우수성을 입증하도록 한다. In the existence of motion, azimuth phase error due to accuracy limitation of GPS/IMU and system delay is unavoidable and it is essential to apply autofocus to estimate and compensate the azimuth phase error. In this paper, autofocus algorithm using MWLS(Modified WLS) is proposed. It shows the robust performance compared with original WLS using new target selection/sorting metric and iterative azimuth phase estimation technique. SAR raw data obtained in a captive flight test is used to validate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
