        Preservice Teachers' Perception of Readiness in Multicultural Education

        This study examined four female early childhood preservice teachers’ perception of readiness to work with children and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and the factors that influence their perceived readiness. Although both of the two Caucasian and two ethnic minority student teachers exhibited competence to work with diverse populations, they were confronted by a lack of skills and deep understandings of diversity in field placement. The factors that influenced the preservice teachers’ perception of multicultural readiness were more complex and multifaceted, interwoven with their attitudes, prior experiences, multicultural training, and ethnicity. This study suggests that teacher educators need to recognize multidimensional backgrounds of each preservice teacher and understand how those factors are translated to their teaching. Also, educators need to provide practical and specific knowledge and skills to preservice teachers so they can effectively work with diverse students and families.

        영아기 Churg-Strauss Syndrome 1예

        Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a disorder characterized by pulmonary and systemic smallvessel vasculitis, extravascular eosinophilic infiltration and hypereosinophilia; it is rarely diagnosed in the pediatric age group. We experienced a case of CSS in a male infant who had repeated symptoms of asthma with hypereosinophilia and transitory non-fixed pulmonary infiltrates on chest radiographs. He also had rectal bleeding in early infancy and multiple erosions with extravascular eosinophilic infiltrations in the sigmoid colon. We report a rare case of CSS in a 14-month-old infant and review the medical literature. 저자들은 말초 혈액 호산구수 증가, 반복적인 천식, 고정되지 않은 폐 침윤, 그리고 위장관 출혈 및 혈관외 호산구 침윤을 보인 영아에서 p-ANCA와 c-ANCA의 증가 소견과 스테로이드 사용 후 증상과 검사 소견이 급격히 호전을 반복적으로 보이는 임상 소견을 근거로 진단된 영아기 CSS 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

        예비유아교사의 교육실습 경험 이야기 : 관계형성을 중심으로

        본 연구에서는 유치원 교육실습 기간 동안 예비교사들이 작성한 저널과 면담자료를 중심으로 그들의 실습 경험과 그 의미를 탐색해보고자 하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 예비교사들은 실습 과정에서 유아와의 관계형성 및 상호작용을 통해 다양한 정서적 경험을 하며 실습생으로서 자신의 정체성을 형성해 나가는 것으로 드러났다. 둘째, 예비교사들은 실습지도교사와의 관계가 실습과정 중의 어려움을 상쇄하거나 가중시키는 등 실습 성패에 중요한 영향을 미친다고 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 실습생들은 교실 안에서 자신의 위치와 구체적인 역할을 스스로 정립하지 못해 혼란스러워하였고, 수업 중에는 스스로의 평가나 유아의 반응을 보며 좌절과 당황 등 부정적인 정서를 경험하는 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 예비유아교사가 실습과정을 통해서 직전교사교육으로써 의미 있는 경험을 할 수 있도록 교육실습과 예비교사 교육과정에서 지원할 수 있는 방안에 대해서 논의하였다. This study aims to explore the preservice teachers’ experience and understanding of teaching practice based on journals and interviews. Participants were seven female senior students in a four-year college of education at Kyeonggi-do province. They were involved in four-week teaching practice and asked to fill out their journals more than 3 or 4 times a week. They also conducted individual and group interviews before and after teaching practice. The findings indicated as follows: first, preservice teachers developed meaningful relationships with children and explored their identity in their teaching practices. Second, they agreed that how they build relationships with teachers increased or decreased their difficulties during teaching practice. They also recognized that teachers must be educational experts who conduct planning and implementation of curriculum and effective interactions with children. Third, they were confused about their role in the classroom and experienced negative emotions such as fear and worries while considering self-evaluation and children’s reactions toward their teaching practice. In addition, they confronted difficulties when they were asked to deal with children’s problematic behaviors. Physical exhaustion through overworking resulted in their malfunction. The journal writings allowed them to reflect on their identities as early childhood teachers, their educational value, and their teaching methods. Through journaling, they reflected their own experiences in teaching practice and gained practice knowledge. This study has implications for improvement of the practical experience for early childhood teacher educators, cooperating teachers, and student teachers.

        양측 피질 기형을 동반한 환자의 동측 피질척수로-증례보고-

        The developing brain is highly plastic and thus brain lesions during development interfere with the innate development of architecture, connectivity and mapping of functions and trigger modifications in structure, wiring and representation. Unilateral inhibition of the sensorimotor cortex during development results in a sparse contralateral projection from this cortex and retention of a greater number of ipsilateral projections from the more active cortex. We report a patient with bilateral cerebral lesions. She had mild hemiparesis. Transcranial magnetic stimulation to the less affected hemisphere elicited bilateral motor evoked potentials of the first dorsal interossei and ipsilateral responses revealed shorter onset latencies and larger peak to peak amplitude than contralateral response, implying a greater ipsilateral than contralateral projection. This observation indicates direct ipsilateral corticospinal projections from the less affected brain hemisphere.

        남녀 고등학생의 완벽주의 성향과 이상섭식태도의 관계에서 신체불만족과 우울 증상의 다중매개효과

        This study aims to examine the relationship between perfectionism and disordered eating attitudes (hereafter DEA) among male and female adolescents with focusing on serial mediation effects of body dissatisfaction and depressive symptoms. A sample of 584 (male 305, female 279) adolescents aged 17-18 living in Ulsan completed offline survey, consisting child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale (CAPS), Multidimensional Body Self-Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ), The Korean version of Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26KA), and The Center for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Frequency, bivariate correlation, and serial mediation analyses utilizing PROCESS macro were conducted to assess the serial effects of perfectionism on DEA, mediated via body dissatisfaction and depressive symptoms according to gender. Main results are as follows; First, in male adolescents, relationship between self-oriented perfectionism and DEA was mediated by depression. Second, in female adolescents, a significant serial mediation effect was found in body dissatisfaction and depression. Third, all paths showed significant effects in socially prescribed perfectionism. Based on results, this study suggests a need for a better understanding of the relationship between perfectionism and DEA for male and female adolescents. 본 연구에서는 남녀 고등학생의 완벽주의 성향의 하위요인이 신체불만족과 우울 증상을 순차적으로 매개하여이상섭식태도에 미치는 영향을 검증하여 성별차를 탐색하였다. 이를 위하여 경남 지역에 소재한 고등학교 3곳에재학 중인 고등학생 1,2학년 584명(남자 고등학생 305명, 여자 고등학생 279명)을 대상으로 청소년 완벽주의 성향척도, 신체-자아관련 다차원 설문문항, 우울 증상 척도, 한국판 식이태도 검사를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS PROCESS macro를 사용하여 다중매개분석 및 간접효과의 유의성을 검증하기 위해 부트스트랩을 실시하였다. 연구결과를요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 남자청소년은 자기지향 완벽주의가 우울 증상을 매개로 이상섭식태도에 미치는 간접효과만이 유의미하였다. 둘째, 여자청소년은 자기지향 완벽주의가 신체불만족을 매개로 이상섭식태도에 미치는 간접효과와신체불만족과 우울의 순차적 매개로 미치는 간접효과가 유의미하였다. 셋째, 여자청소년의 사회부과 완벽주의는모든 경로가 유의미한 것으로 검증되었다. 이와 같이 본 연구에서는 청소년의 이상섭식태도에 영향을 미치는 완벽주의성향과 신체불만족, 우울 증상의 영향을 통합적으로 탐색하고, 완벽주의 성향의 두 가지 하위요인과 이상섭식태도의관계에서 신체불만족과 우울 증상의 매개 효과를 실증적으로 검증하였다는데 그 의의가 있다. 이러한 연구결과는완벽주의 성향을 가진 청소년들의 이상섭식태도에 관하여 이해하는데 도움이 되는 자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것이다

        Disruption of the Corticoreticular Tract in Pediatric Patients With Trunk Instability: A Diffusion Tensor Tractography Study

        The authors report the diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) findings of three pediatric patients with gait dysfunction and corticoreticular tract (CRT) disruption. All three patients showed unilateral trunk instability, but they did not show any spasticity or weakness of the distal extremities. Clinical evaluation of trunk instability using a Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS) revealed that the more affected side had a lower score than the contralateral side. DTT showed disrupted CRTs in hemispheres contralateral to the hemiparetic sides, which were associated with unilateral proximal instability, although conventional MRI showed no abnormal lesion explaining the hemiplegic symptom. Compared to the results in age-matched controls, these three patients had decreased values of fractional anisotropy (FA) and tract volumes (TV) of the affected CRTs, and these values were also decreased compared to those in the contralateral side. On the other hand, values of FA and TV of the corticospinal tracts on the ipsilateral and contralateral sides were only marginally different. In conclusion, diffusion tensor imaging can be helpful for investigating the state of the CRT in pediatric patients with trunk instability and gait dysfunction.

        사회양극화에 따른 유아교육 양극화 현상에 대한 고찰

        본 연구의 목적은 오늘날 우리 사회에서 문제시 되고 있는 사회양극화와 교육양극화 현상에 대한 이해를 기초로 하여 유아교육의 양극화 현상을 해소하기 위한 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 사회양극화로부터 파급된 교육양극화 현상은 부모의 사회경제적 지위에 따라 유아기 교육에 있어서 극명하게 다른 양상을 드러내고 있다. 유아기 교육에 있어서 사교육의 무분별한 팽창, 과도한 교육비 지출, 교육기회의 지나친 지역 편중화로 인해 교육 기회의 불균등성, 교육격차, 교육비 부담 등의 문제를 파생시켰다. 반면 우리 사회에서 빈곤 유아들은 계속적으로 증가하고 있고 이들은 적절한 교육과 교육환경의 부재로 인해 사회적 위화감과 상대적 빈곤감 등을 경험할 수 있다. 사회양극화로 인한 경제적 불평등이 교육에 있어서의 양극화 현상을 초래하고, 교육양극화는 경제적 불평등을 공고히 하면서 불평등의 구조가 악순환 되는 현상이 나타나고 있다. 그러므로 공교육 강화를 통한 교육기회의 균등성을 제공하고 양극화 현상을 완화시키고 계층이동의 가능성을 열어주는 사다리 역할을 할 수 있는 사회의 개입이 시급한 실정이다. The purpose of this study is to investigate solutions for relieving early childhood educational polarization based on understanding of social polarization as well as educational polarization which are on-going issues in our society. According to the parents’ socioeconomic status(SES), educational polarization addressed different aspects in early childhood education, especially for private education. First, as private education market in early childhood education was outrageously growing, parents’ educational expenses became higher and regional bias to have educational opportunities was obvious. Therefore, inequity and gap in education and parents’ burden on educational expenses have been issues in early childhood eduction. Furthermore, as child poverty has been increasing in our society, children in poverty suffer from lack of educational opportunities, environments, and appropriate care. They also experience atmosphere of social disharmony and relative poverty. Since social polarization and educational polarization were caught in vicious circle, social intervention, which reinforces public education and guarantees equity in education, was needed in early childhood education.

        편마비 뇌성 마비 환자에서 재활치료 이후 손상된 뇌피질 척수로의 회복

        Objective: To investigate whether injured corticospinal tract (CST) could recover after rehabilitative therapy in hemiplegic patients with cerebral palsy using diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) which is known to be useful in detecting microscopic white matter lesion in vivo. Method: Sixteen hemiplegic patients (mean age, 13.6 months) were enrolled. Diffuse tensor image (DTI) and gross motor functional measurement (GMFM) evaluation were performed before rehabilitative therapy and at follow-up. We measured the fractional anisotropy (FA), and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of CST in the affected and unaffected hemisphere. To evaluate asymmetry of affected and unaffected CST, asymmetry index of fractional anisotropy (AA) and asymmetry index of apparent diffusion coefficient (AD) were measured. Results: The FA value of the affected CST was lower than that of the unaffected CST and the ADC value was higher than that of the unaffected CST in initial and follow up DTT (p<0.001). Compared with the result of initial DTT, the results of follow up DTT demonstrated that the FA value of both CST was increased (p=0.000). A significant increase in AA was showed in all patients (p=0.000) and the increase of AA had significant correlation with the increase of FA of affected CST, but not with the unaffected CST (r=0.537, p=0.032). Conclusion: DTT would be a powerful modality not only for diagnosis and prognosis of cerebral palsy, but also assessment of microstructural change of CST after rehabilitative therapy.
