        Molecular cloning and antifungal activity of an inhibitor cysteine knot peptide from the bumblebee Bombus ignitus

        The honeybee inhibitor cysteine knot (ICK) peptide acts as an antifungal peptide and insecticidal venom toxin. However, the ICK peptide from bumblebees has not been characterized. Here, we report the molecular cloning and antifungal activity of a bumblebee (Bombus ignitus) ICK peptide (BiICK).We identified a BiICK that contains an ICK fold. The BiICK was expressed in the epidermis, fat body, and venomgland of B. ignitusworker bees. A 6.7- kDa recombinant BiICK peptide was expressed in baculovirus-infected insect cells. Recombinant BiICK peptides directly bound to Beauveria bassiana, Ascosphaera apis, and Fusarium graminearum, but they did not bind to Escherichia coli, Paenibacillus larvae, or Bacillus thuringiensis. Consistent with this finding, BiICK exhibited antifungal activity against fungi. These results demonstrate that BiICK acts as an antifungal peptide.

        초등학교 학생선수의 경기력과 스포츠 수행전략

        The purpose of this study was to investigate a difference in psychological skills according to the competitive performance of elementary school-aged student athletes. The Test of Performance Strategies (TOPS) was conducted twice in the early and late of the year. 74 student athletes completed 1st and 2nd TOPS surveys were selected the subjects of the study, and the group of performance devided by awarded/non-awarded in the National Junior Sports Festival. Data were analyzed through t-test, covariance analysis, repeated-measure ANOVA for investigating differences by performance (awarded/ non-awarded), period(1st/2nd survey), and period×performance. As a result, there was a significant different in ‘self-talk’ by performance, and there were significant effects of performance on ‘condition control’, ‘imagery & goal setting’. In conclusion, higher performed elementary school athletes consistently highly use ‘self-talk’. Higher performer used more ‘condition control’ and ‘imagery & goal-setting’ strategies. These implicate that elementary school athletes with high performance are more likely to use psychological skills such as ‘self-talk’, ‘condition control’, and ‘imagery & goal-setting’. Furthermore, these imply that psychological skills are benefit to performance in elementary school athletes, and help to increase the importance of psychological skills in youth sports.

        남자 초등학교 학생선수의 운동종목 유형에 따른 체력특성 분석

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of physical fitness according to types of sport in male primary school athletes. Male primary school athletes (n=271) were divided into 3 groups: record establishing sports (n=108), rocket sports (n=84), and ball sports (n=79). Physique, physical fitness (muscle strength, muscle endurance, power, flexibility, agility, reaction time, total lung capacity), and professional fitness (anaerobic power, isokinetic knee muscular function) were measured. One way ANOVA and post-hoc was used to conduct verify the difference among the groups. The results of this study were as follows: Physique in ball sports group were significantly higher than record establishing sports and rocket sports group(p<.05). As for physical fitness, muscle strength in ball sports, muscle endurance and agility in rocket sports, and flexibility and total lung capacity in record establishing sports group were significantly higher than other groups, respectively(p<.05). As for isokinetic muscular function, peak torque of extensor in right knee joint of ball sports is significantly higher than other groups, and peak torque of flexor in record establishing sports and ball sports groups were significantly higher than rocket sports groups(p<.05), but peak torque per body weight did not different among the groups. Ratio of flexor and extensor in right side of rocket sports group was significantly ideal compared with record establishing sports and ball sports groups(p<.05). Taken together, it is difficult to generalize the physique and body characteristics according to the types of sport in the elementary school athletes which is the growth period. However we suggest that the provision of theses data is an essential resource and will also be an invaluable guide for professionals to develop and train elementary school athletes. 본 연구의 목적은 남자초등학교 학생선수의 운동종목 유형에 따른 체력특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 남자초등학교 학생선수 271명을 대상으로 기록종목 (108명), 라켓종목(84명), 구기종목(79명)으로 구성되었다. 측정항목은 체격, 기초체력(근력, 근지구력, 순발력, 유연성, 민첩성, 전신반응, 폐활량), 전문체력(무산소성파워, 등속성근관절기능검사)를 실시하였다. 운동종목 유형 간의 체격 및 체력의 차이검증을 위하여 일원변량분석(One-way ANOVA)과 사후분석은 Scheffe 방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 체격변인에서는 구기종목 선수가 기록종목과 라켓종목 선수보다 체격이 큰 것으로 나타났으며(p<.05), 기초체력분석 결과 구기종목은 근력요인, 라켓종목은 근지구력과 민첩성, 기록종목은 유연성과 폐활량이 타 종목유형보다 높은 것으로 나타났다(p<.05). 슬관절의 등속성근관절기능검사 결과에서는 우측 신근의 최대파워에서 구기종목이 좌측 신근 최대파워, 좌·우측 굴근 최대 파워에서는 기록종목과 구기종목이 라켓종목보다 유의하게 높게 나타났지만(p<.05), 단위체중당 최대파워에서는 종목유형간 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 우측의 굴근과 신근의 비율에서는 라켓종목이 기록종목과 구기종목보다 유의하게 이상적인 비율을 나타냈다(p<.05). 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면, 성장기인 초등학생선수의 종목유형에 따른 체격 및 체형의 특성을 성인기 선수처럼 일반화하기에는 어려움이 있지만, 초등학생 남자운동선수의 운동종목유형별 체격, 기초(전문)체력의 특성을 근거로 선수발굴이나 훈련프로그램을 구성하기 위한 기초자료의 제공은 의미가 있으리라 생각된다.

        Aerobic exercise training enhances cell proliferation and reduces IL-2 and IL-6 cytokine production in spleen of high fat diet-induced obese mice

        This study investigated the effect of aerobic exercise training on immune cell proliferation and inflammatory cytokine production in the spleen of high fat diet-induced obese mice. C57BL/6 male mice (4 weeks aged, n=20) were fed a high fat diet (45% fat)for 5 weeks so that obesity was led intentionally. Then, these obese mice were divided into 2 groups; control group (CON, n=10)or exercise group (EXE, n=10). EXE performed treadmill running for 30-60 min/day at 10-22 m/min, 0% grade, five times per week for 8 weeks. After 13 weeks, all the splenocyte was collected and Con A (Concanvalin A 10 μg/ml) was used to stimulate the cell proliferation. MTS and BIOPLEX assay were used for cell proliferation and cytokine production. Independent t-test was used and a p-value under 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. In the results, body weight, IL-2 and IL-6 production were significantly reduced and Splenocyte proliferation was significantly increased after 8 weeks of exercise training. These findings suggest that aerobic exercise training has a positive effect for improving the obese-induced immune dysfunction.

        치과용 Co-Cr 금속도재관의 표면처리에 의한 도재와의 결합 강도 분석

        Purpose: Observation of Oxide Film Formation and Bonding Strength according to surface treatment of Co-Cr Alloy for porcelain fused to Metal. Methods: metal specimens 0.5㎜×25㎜×4㎜ in size were made using Co-Cr alloys for porcelain fused to metal crown (Heraenium P, Tae jung Medis). Dental porcelain 0.5㎜×25㎜×4㎜ in size was sintered on the metal specimens after changing the etching time, sandblasting condition, and heat treatment temperature. Subsequently, the bonding strength was compared by the three-point flexural strength test using a universal testing machine (UTM) to observe the fracture surface and oxidized layers. Results: With regard to the experimental group treated with acid-etching, Specimen 1 treated for 25 minutes (B-3) showed the highest bonding strength, and Specimen 2 treated only with sandblasting showed the most excellent bonding force at 3.5 bar (C-3). With regard to the experimental group treated with sandblasting at 3.5 bar after acid-etching for 25 minutes, Specimen 3 with heat treatment at 980℃ (D-3) showed the highest bonding strength. Conclusion: The specimen which went through both sandblasting and etching, showed an excellent ceramicmetal bond strength.

        Antibacterial activity of major royal jelly proteins of the honeybee (Apis mellifera) royal jelly

        Major royal jelly proteins (MRJPs) are the protein components in royal jelly (RJ). MRJPs 1–7 are detected in the honeybee Apis mellifera RJ. Although A. mellifera MRJP (AmMRJP) 2 exhibited antibacterial activity, the other MRJPs with antimicrobial activities in A. mellifera RJ remains largely unknown. Here, we compared the antibacterial activity of recombinant AmMRJPs 1–7 expressed in baculovirus-infected insect cells. Antibacterial assays of recombinant AmMRJPs 1–7 against the gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli revealed that AmMRJPs 2–5 and 7 exhibited antibacterial activity, whereas AmMRJPs 1 and 6 displayed almost no antibacterial activity. Consistent with the antibacterial activity of AmMRJPs, AmMRJPs 2–5 and 7 are bound to bacterial cell walls. These results indicated that AmMRJPs 2–5 and 7 contribute directly to the antibacterial property of RJ, suggesting that MRJPs play a role in the antimicrobial property of RJ.

        초등학교 축구 선수의 포지션별 체력, 하지 무산소성 파워 및 등속성 근기능 특성 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 남자초등학교 축구선수의 포지션에 따른 체격, 체력, 무산소성 파워, 등속성근기능 특성을 분석하 고자 하였다. 연구대상은 남자초등학교 축구선수 55명을 대상으로 공격수 11명, 미드필더 26명, 수비수 18명으로 구성하였다. 측정항목은 체격과 체력요인(근력, 근지구력, 순발력, 유연성, 민첩성, 전신반응, 협응성, 폐활량, 무산 소성 파워, 등속성 각근력)을 측정하였다. 포지션간의 체격 및 체력의 차이검증을 위하여 일원변량분석(One-way ANOVA)과 사후분석은 LSD 방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 신체구성에서는 수비수가 공격 수와 미드필더보다 체중, 체지방량, 체지방률, 신체질량지수가 높게 나타났으며(p<.01), 둘째, 체력요인에서는 순발 력 변인중 제자리높이뛰기에서 공격수가 미드필더와 수비수보다 높은 결과를 보였고(p<.05), 폐활량에서는 수비수 가 공격수와 미드필더보다 높았다(p<.01). 셋째, 등속성 각근력에서는 신전근에서 수비수가 공격수와 미드필더보다 우측최대파워, 좌측최대파워, 우측 단위체중당 최대파워에서 높은 결과를 보였으며(p<.05), 굴곡근에서는 좌·우측 최대파워에서 수비수가 공격수보다 높게 나타났다(p<.05). 이러한 결과를 종합해보면, 초등학생 축구선수의 발육발 달 단계상 성장기인 점을 감안하면 본 연구에서 나타난 포지션별 체격 및 체력의 특성을 일반화 시키기는 어렵지 만, 이러한 축구종목 포지션의 체격, 체력의 특성을 근거로 한 선수 발굴 및 포지션 결정 그리고 훈련프로그램을 구 성하기 위한 기초자료의 제공은 의미가 있으리라 생각된다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of physical fitness anaerobic power and isokinetic muscular strength by forward, mid-fielder and defender position of primary school soccer athletes. Fifty-five soccer athletes were divided into 3 groups: Forward(n=11), mid-fielder(n=26), and defender(n=18). Physique, physical fitness(muscle strength, muscle endurance, power, flexibility, agility, reaction time, coordination, lung capacity), and professional fitness (anaerobic power, isokinetic knee muscle function) were measured. One way ANOVA and post-hoc was used to conduct verify the difference among the groups. The results of this study were as follows: Body weight, fat mass, %fat and BMI in defender group was significantly higher than other groups respectively(p<.05). As for sargent jump of forward group was significantly higher than mid-fielder and defender group(p<.05). The defender group was significantly higher lung capacity than other groups(p<.05). As for isokinetic muscular strength, peak torque of extensor in right and left knee joint of defender group was significantly higher than other groups, and peak torque of flexor in defender group was significantly higher than forward group(p<.05). In this results, it is difficult to generalize the physique and physical fitness according to the positions of soccer in the primary school athletes which is the growth period. However we suggest that the provision of theses data is an essential resource and will also be an invaluable guide for professionals to develop and training program in primary school soccer athletes.
