This paper deals with Asherah by exploring her presence in Ugarit myth, Hebrew Scripture, and archeological remains and further by comparing translated words between Korean and English Scriptures. In Ugarit myth, Asherah played an important role as a wife of the supreme god El and gave birth to seventy gods. Although Asherah appears 40 times in the Hebrew Scripture, this paper focuses on two verses (Judges 3:7 and I Kings 18:19), which implies that Asherah might be a goddess. Several debates reveal that Asherah was a goddess associated with Baal during the period of Judges, while Asherah was a goddess related to YHWH during the Divided Kingdom period. Inscriptions found from Khirbet el-Qom and Kintillet Ajrud demonstrates that Asherah was YHWH’s consort even though there were some grammatical problems in ancient Hebrew. In addition, scholars assume that female figurines excavated near the borders of Judah could be Asherahs, but this assumption requires more textual evidences. The translations of Asherah in Korean and English Scriptures reveals different perspectives. Korean Scriptures regard Asherah as wooden poles, but English Scriptures do not exclude Asherah as a goddess. With regard to Asherah, Korean scholars need to be more acceptive to updated perspectives on Asherah.

This paper evaluates how well Google Translate and Naver Papago translate English proverbs. For this aim, the research questions include: i) are most frequently used proverbs translated more correctly than rarely used ones?; ii) what causes the translation errors? The analyses of COCA reveal that there is no correlation between the frequency of proverbs and the correct translations of proverbs in machine translation. Naver Papago translates English proverbs into Korean more correctly than Google Translate. The error analyses of incorrect translations from Google Translate and Naver Papago demonstrate that the translation errors are divided into three categories: errors from words, errors from syntactic structures, and errors from proverb format. 41 proverbs are translated incorrectly in Google Translate, but 9 in Naver Papago.

This paper focuses on how tense equivalence is maintained when English present progressives are translated into Korean and on how university students translations are different from those derived from translation machines. The source text is selected from COCA according to Vendler s verb categories. Based on the analyses of 30 students questionnaires, two findings are identified. First, the tense equivalence in English-Korean translation is affected by verbal types. The activity verbs strongly keep the tense equivalence and then achievement and accomplishment verbs follow. The tense equivalence in state verbs is relatively weak. Second, the machine translation keeps the tense equivalence between source and target texts, but students seem to use several tenses: the present, the progressive, the future, and the past. With regard to abstract nouns, adjectives, adverbs, adverb phrases, the machine produces more monotonous translations than students.

In this study, we attempted a structural analysis in order to design a balloon type extracorporeal membrane oxygenator that can induce blood flow without using blood pumps for the purpose of complementing the weakness in the existing extracorporeal membrane oxygenator. To analyze the flow characteristic of the blood flow within the virtual model of extracorporeal membrane oxygenator, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) modeling method was used. The operating principle of this system is to make the surface of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenator keep contracting and dilating regularly by applying pressure load using a balloon, and the ``Time Function Value`` that changes according to the time was applied by calculating a half cycle of sine waveform and a cycle of sine. waveform Under the assumption that the uni-directional blood flow could be induced if the balloon type extracorporeal membrane oxygenator was designed as per the method described above, we conducted a structural analysis accordingly. We measured and analyzed the velocity and pressure of blood flow at both inlet and outlet of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenator through CFD simulation. As a result of the modeling, it was confirmed that there was a flow in accord with the direction of the blood by the contraction/dilation. With CFD simulation, the characteristics of blood flow can be predicted in advance, so it is judged that this will be able to provide the most optimized design in producing an extracorporeal membrane oxygenator.
파견교사의 수학체험센터 운영 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구
박영란(Young-Ran Park),이윤주(Yoon-Joo Lee) 학습자중심교과교육학회 2024 학습자중심교과교육연구 Vol.24 No.8
Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of dispatched teachers’ experiences of operating a Math Experience Center and explore the implications of these findings for their perceptions and practices as teachers. Methods This study conducted a narrative inquiry to vividly capture the changes in the life and qualities of teachers through the experience of operating the mathematics experience center of dispatched teachers and to comprehensively understand them. In-depth interviews were conducted three times each for two secondary school mathematics teachers with more than one year of experience working at the mathematics experience center, and field texts were collected by visiting the center in person. Starting with the teaching experience that chose dispatched work, the research results were presented by categorizing them into teachers, dispatched teachers, and individual areas based on spatiality and relationship. Results Through the operation of the Math Experience Center, the dispatched teachers experienced a change in their perception of themselves and growth as ‘education professionals’ by improving their subject expertise. These experiences led to, first, a role shift from a ‘made teacher’ to a ‘making teacher’ while searching for a direction for mathematics education; second, an attitude shift from a ‘teacher who teaches’ to a ‘teacher who learns and strives’ while recognizing the subjectivity of status; and third, an identity growth from a ‘subject matter expert’ to an ‘education expert’ through relationship formation and changes in the work environment. Conclusions This study confirmed that the educational achievements gained by teachers through subjective status and challenges in the new educational environment change their perception of themselves and activate target behaviors, contributing to the improvement of teachers' professionalism and educational practice.
