        High-performance of Flexible Supercapacitor Cable Based on Microwave-activated 3D Porous Graphene/Carbon Thread

        We report a supercapacitor cable, which consists of three-dimensional (3D) porous graphene coated onto the surface of carbon thread. The 3D porous framework of graphene was constructed by microwave-activated process using a graphene oxide-coated carbon thread. The use of microwave irradiation enabled to convert graphene oxide into reduced graphene oxide without any reducing agents and activate graphene sheets into exfoliated and porous graphene sheets. Combining two wire electrodes with a polymer gel electrolyte successfully completed supercapacitor device in a form of cable construction. The supercapacitor cables were highly flexible, and thus can be transformed into various shapes of devices and be integrated into textile items. A high area-capacitance of 38.1 mF/cm was obtained at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. This capacitance was retained 88% of its original value at 500 mV/s. The cycle life was also demonstrated by repeating a charge/discharge process during 10,000 cycles even under bent states, showing a high capacitance retention of 96.5%.

        약물이상반응으로 입원한 환자에 대한 분석

        The survey on adverse drug reaction in patients admitted by drug toxicity was conducted. We reviewed the charts of hospitalized patients from February to August 1999. Approximately, 0.12% (n=15) of all the patients had been diagnosed as drug induced adverse reaction in the charts and 67% (n=10) of them were over sixty years old. 43% (n=7) of drug was carbamazepine and digoxin, which has known as having a narrow range of therapeutic drug concentration of blood and the other drugs were isoniazide, NSAIDs, etc. We could conclude the appropriate dosage adjustment through therapeutic drug monitoring is needed to reduce the drug-related adverse reaction, especially when the medications which may cause severe adverse reaction are prescribed to elderly patients.

        Capsaicin이 성숙흰쥐 근육층신경얼기의 칼슘채널 α1B subunit 면역활성도에 미치는 영향

        This study was performed to investigate the changes of immunoreactivities of calcium channel α1B subunit in myenteric plexus of capsaicin treated adult rats. Sprague Dawley rats (about 200 g) were injected with capsaicin (50 mg/kg) subcutaneously. Ileal myenteric plexus was prepared by whole mount preparation method in 1 day, 2 days, 1 week and 4 weeks after capsaicin treated adult rats. Each myenteric plexus was reacted with NADH-TR and immunostained with α1B subunit. Myenteric ganglion cell numbers were counted by image analyzer. In control group myenteric plexus was arranged in rectangular appearance; myenteric ganglia and internodal strand were immunoreacted with α1B subunit. Immunoreactive cells were 56.0% of total myenteric neurons. Total numbers of immunoreactive cells decreased by 19.0%, 37.9% and 64.9% in 1 day, 2 days, and 1 week after capsaicn treated group respectively. In 4 weeks after capsaicin treated group, immunoreactivities of α1B subunit were increased compared to that of the 1 week after group. However total numbers of immuoreactive cells decreased by 43.9% compared to that of the control group. In conclusion, we confirmed that immunoreactivities of α1B subunit were decreased until 1 week after capsaicin treatment and recovered progressively after that time. It will take more than 4 weeks latency to recover the control immunoreactivities of α1B subunit. 성숙동물 근육층신경얼기에서 capsaicin 투여 후 시간경과에 따른 칼슘채널 α1B subunit의 면역활성도 변 화를 살펴보기 위해 면역조직화학적, 형태계측학적 방법을 이용해 비교분석 하였다. 성숙흰쥐(Sprague Dawley계, 200 gm 안팎)에 capsaicin을 50 mg/kg 피하주사하고 1일, 2일, 1주일, 4주일 후에 동 물을 희생시킨 후 돌창자 근육층신경얼기의 전층표본을 제작하여 NADH-TR 반응염색과 α1B subunit 면역조직화 학 염색을 시행하였다. 면역활성도를 정량화하기위해 신경세포의 형태를 분류하고 영상분석기를 이용하여 계수하 고 통계처리 하였다. 정상군의 근육층신경얼기에서 α1B subunit는 신경절과 신경절사이띠에 뚜렷한 면역반응을 나타내었으며 세포질 이 α1B subunit에 대해 반응을 나타낸 세포는 전체 신경세포의 56.0% (1형: 68.2%, 2형: 66.9%, 3형: 50.1%)를 차지 하고 있었다. α1B subunit에 대한 면역활성도는 capsaicin 투여 후 1일군부터 급격한 변화를 나타내어 면역반응 신 경세포의 총수가 19.0% 감소하였으며, 감소현상은 1형(20%↓)과 3형(40.6%↓) 세포에서 두드러지게 나타났다. Capsaicin 투여 후 2일군에서는 1일군에 비해 활성도가 더 저하되어 면역반응 신경세포의 총수가 37.9% (1형: 23.7%↓, 3형: 52.2%↓) 감소하였다. Capsaicin 투여 후 1주일군에서는 가장 현저한 감소를 나타내어 정상군에 비해 64.9% (1형: 54.8%↓, 2형: 19.0%↓, 3형: 80%↓) 감소하였다. Capsaicin 투여 후 4주군에서 α1B subunit의 면역활성도 는 1주군에 비해 증가되는 추세를 보이고 있었으나 정상군에 비해 면역반응 신경세포의 총수는 43.9% (1형: 23.7%↓, 2형: 17.8%↓, 3형: 56.2%↓) 감소한 상태로 남아있었다. 이상의 결과로 capsaicin 투여에 의해 성숙흰쥐의 근육층신경얼기에서 칼슘채널 α1B subunit의 면역활성도는 투 여 후 1주일까지 빠르게 저하되며 그 이후부터는 점차 정상으로 회복되나 완전한 상태로의 회복에는 4주 이상의 시간경과가 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

        Evaluation and Application of Cryosectioning in Undecalcified Hard Tissues in Cartilage and Bone Regenerative Medicine

        This article overall describes the development of histological method especially, cartilage and bone research in regenerative medicine. Kawamoto’s film method, which has been recently introduced into our laboratory, has been applied in various fields that make sectioning of hard tissues easier than the conventional method. Moreover, this method also does not require the time-consuming chemical fixation and/or decalcification process. Kawamoto method involves the use of the adhesive plastic film instead of a cover glass where the thin tissue sections are attached efficiently at low temperatures (-25°C). Furthermore, the histological method preserves the enzymatic activity in the fresh sections in comparison to that of chemically-treated tissue sections. In fact, we used this Kawamoto’s film method in one of our researches in which drug repositioning was employed for cartilage regeneration. Some of the Kawamoto-processed tissue sections are featured in this review article. Therefore, the application of this tissue preparation technique allowed effective and histological and histochemical studies within a shorter preparation time with ease and convenience. In the future, this Kawamoto method may offer further applications in the preparation of a more diverse tissues and samples not only in the preclinical but also in the clinical studies.

        One of the effective roles of sport is to the alleviation of a tension, the improvement of a relations, and the realization of a harmony. We, two Koreas of the North and South, need a genuine exchanges of sports as a means to the solution of separated families and overcoming the division thereby realizing the reunification of this country. The pingpong diplomacy between People’s Republic of China and the USA in the past will be the exemplary model of this kind of exchanges eliminating anttagonism between them. The undergoing athletic meeting between the North and South is attracting our deepest concerns. The North is trying not to be alienated from international sports field since the breaking of Berlin Wall and the propellation of Korean government’s northern policy. The number of gold medals of Peking Asian games, which will be held between September 22, 1990 through October 7 increased by 39 to 308 in comparison to Seoul Asian Games. To our regret, however, if the formation of a unified team is realized, it is very uncertain for us to clinch the first prize. It is because the host country includes u-shu, their own sport, in the official events of the Games which is strange to two Koreas. But, the important thing is not a victory but a formation of a unified team and the restoration of national identity and harmony, a shortcut to the reunification of this nation.
