과학영재학교 학생들의 여름방학 활동 중 교과활동과 연구활동의 특징 분석: 대학과목선이수제 수강 교과를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 과학영재학교 학생들의 여름방학 활동의 특징을 알아내는 것이었다. 이를 위해 과학영재학교 1학년 88명과 2학년 82명과 일반고등학교 1학년 84명과 2학년 66명을 대상으로 한 설문을 통해 학생들의 여름방학 활동의 특징을 분석하였다. 영재학교와 일반학교간의 여름방학 중 교과활동은 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 없었으나(43%:40%), 과학영재학교 학생들은 연구활동을 더 높은 비중(23%:6%)로 하였다. 대학과목선이수제(AP) 수강 과목에 따라 교과활동의 과목별 비중이 달라졌으며, 물리 AP를 수강하는 학생은 물리교과 비중이 높은 반면 수학과 화학의 비중은 다른 과목 AP 수강생에 비해 낮았다. 연구활동에서는 수학AP와 물리AP과목 수강여부에 따라 활동이 달라졌는데, 물리AP과목 수강생은 다른 과목 수강생에 비해 각종 연구대회 준비 활동을 더하고 글로벌 프런티어는 상대적으로 덜하는 것으로 나타났다. The aim of this study was to discover the characteristics of students’ summer-vacation activities in a science academy for the gifted. This study conducted a survey among 88 tenth-grade students and 82 eleventh-grade students in one science academy for the gifted and 84 tenth-grade students and 66 eleventh-grade students in a general high school. No statistically significant differences were noted in the proportions of curricular activities between the academy for the gifted and the general high school (43%:40%), students in the science academy for the gifted engaged in many more research activities (23%:6%). The students in physics advanced placemennt (AP) courses had increased physics and decreased math and chemistry curricular activities. The most increased activities of the eleventh-grade students at the science academy for the gifted were research activities, which were selected by 65% of these students (N=53).

The inflammatory cells might play the major role in sustained contraction of bronchi in patients with bronchial asthma and the number of neutrophil was reported to elevate in bronchial tree at the late reaction after allergen challenge in animal and human studies. In order to aearch the presence of neutrophil chemotactic activity(NCA) in bronchial tree of the patients with bronchial asthma and partially characterize that activity, We have Perqormed bronchoalveolar lavage in 20 non-smoking pat- ients with symptomatic bronchial asthma and normal subjects for control group and analyzed NCA in BAL fluids concentrated with ultrafiltration membrane(cutting point of M.W. 5000 dalton). L. In 17 of 20 bronchial asthma patienta, NCA was found to elevate in low molecular range below 5000 dalton in BAL fluids and NCA also elevated in 10 cases above the molecular range of 5000 dalton 2, The NCA increased significantly in low molecular substances when compared with that in high molecular substances of BAL fluids in patients with both extrinsic and intrinsic bronchial aathma. 3. The NCA was not changed after heating of 56C for 30 minutes in 5 patients tested and the protein composition was not different between NCA positive ad negative BAL fluid. 4. There was significant correlation between NCA of low molecular weight and percentage of neutrophil in BAL fluids. In conclusion, our results indicate that the heat stable NCA increases in bronchi of the patients with bronchial asthma, and this activity is mainly in low molecular range of BAL fluids
